Dear All, I need an advise. I have the cords. I use arpeggiator (built in or built into instrument). The cakewalk plays the arpeggiated notes, but I cannot see them. I need them to be printed out as they played (not as the input to the arpeggiator), so I can move or edit some notes. I cannot figure out how to see the notes are played after the arpeggiator is engaged. Please advise. Many thanks. Istvan

    Hi Istvan,

I think I found a solution to your dilemma.  At the time of inserting Synthmaster into your project, choose MIDI Source and First Synth Audio Out along with checking the Enable MIDI Output box:

In the synth property page, click on ARP/SEQ tab and click the MIDI Output option to On (circled in yellow):

You can close the synth propery page now.

Then Insert a MIDI track into your project. In the Input of the MIDI track, select All inputs:

Make sure you click on Input Echo in the Synthmaster MIDI track, Arm both MIDI tracks and you should be good to go.

Let me know if you have any difficulty.

    Kind regards,

    Hi John

this makes sense, thank you. I have it set to 44.1 at present so will try and change it.

"I Also set 48 in Windows sound settings and in same I uncheck the give this device exclusive control option box. "

Have looked for this and can't seem to find this?

You can find this setting from the Control Panel then to Sound, then the Play Back tab and click on Speaker/HP and there you click on the Advance tab.  Under "Default Format" you can make a selection on the drop down list shown in red below:

  3. Is this the ultimate interface?  It's seems to cover everything as complex/complicated as it is.  I never seen so many inputs on an audio interface.  It has so many conveniences, I can't believe it.  Someone tell me, is there a more comprehensive interface?

Forgot to mention, for the price of $1499, it's a real deal!  I thought, at first glance, it would be $1600.  But that estimation went up quickly as I watched the promo video.

  4. I would suggest using the Matrix View.  You can drag and drop as many loops as you want into the cells and play them back one or many or all.  It's pretty cool, I guess.

Ive ticked my midi device in preferences-midi-devices but when I create a midi track and set the input to my midi device, (selecting simple instrument track) no input is recorded at all. if I tick the midi output box, the keys I press make the green bar on the track light up but no sound comes out. what could I do to make this work?

Hi euan and welcome to the Cakewalk forums.

Make sure you have Input Echo on (on any MIDI track).

...I would like to pay someone to export the separate .WAV files (probably about 12 or so audio tracks)...

Hi Stafford and welcome to the Cakewalk forums.

No need to pay for this kind of help.  You can simply pull any audio tracks from the Audio folder saved in the project folder.  If you have MIDI files, you can bounce each track individually (https://legacy.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Mixing.46.html#1098466) and then pull those audio files for the Audio folder.

Of course you can pay me a small gratuity for the above instructions/suggestion.

If you read what they said, all they are doing with CbB is a few bug fixes they had already worked out before they switched over to working on the new products. My guess is that was ready to release back in December.  People keep excepting the last update of CbB will have new stuff added??  Why would they do that. You want new stuff? from now on you pay for it and it's called Sonar.

The only "new feature" many are hoping for is the removal of the authorization time out. But I wouldn't put money on that either. They still might want to track how many people are still using CbB and not upgrading to Sonar. That is valuable information for a business to have. Say 2 years from now they still see a huge majority of people are still using CbB and Sonar is not doing that well. If it was my business I would most certainly pull the plug on the free version.

Next is a totally different kettle of fish and I have a feeling it will be the winner for them.

There is obviously a good reason why they want to release everything all at once.

Ah, I see today the are releasing an EA (2023.09).   Gotta check this one out.

  8. Hi Flubb and welcome to the Cakewalk forums.

Just one thing I can think of, what output is your Master buss set to?  It should be set to your sound card/audio interface.  After changing driver mode can change to the Master output (to none).

  9. Hi Jeff and welcome to the Cakewalk forums.

Can you post a screenshot of your Plug-in Manager with VSTis selected so we can see if the Studio Instrument is present?  It may be just a matter of inserting the plug-ins in the list of your VSTis or adding the install path to the plug-in scan properties.

You may try to (re)scan your plug-ins (from Plug-in Manager) to see if they are picked up that way in case you haven't already done so.

    Kind regards,
