If you read my OP it explains that the software is in the default location. The Steinberg VST folder. They were working just fine so I can’t see it was anything to do with any of that but you never know.

Apologies I missed that! I got too excited thinking I may be able to help rather than asking for it! 🙂

  2. A very long shot but do you have the AIR VST's on a disc different from your system disc. I ran into problems and contacted support a few years ago and the told me to move the VSTs to my C drive and they worked fine after that - including installing on a  new PC. It looks like your problem is different but thought I should mention this!

  3. I just got the activation message too - logged in to Bandlab website and also into Bandlab Assistant for good measure. Closed CbB and reopened - message gone. No big deal 🙂

  4. @PavlovsCat thanks so much Peter - very kind of you!

Native have sent links to some free Sonuscore orchestral instruments - wondering if they are worth installing. I think they may be getting on a bit now. I have Miroslav Philharmonik (also very old!), Garritan PO, BBC SO Core and now, of course, the Orchestral Tools instruments in the Kontakt Factory library so not sure I need those as well though the free Kontakt library GAS is going to be in full flow over the next few days!

I don't think you could possibly regret getting KONTAKT, Joe.

I have a thread full of my recommendations for free sample libraries for the full version of KONTAKT. There's a wealth of high quality instruments in there.  Pianos, synths, brass, strings, drums, percussion -- it's there. The included Factory library with KONTAKT likely also includes some libraries you'd enjoy. I don't think I have a single DAW project with multiple instruments that doesn't include KONTAKT. I use it far more than anything else.

Thanks Peter - I had a quick listen through to the Kontakt libraries and although there is some good stuff in there I wasn't overwhelmed - especially as I have IK TotalStudio 2 Max and several other libraries & synths. However, as you suggest, the main temptation is the free libraries. I'm a tight git money wise but  I'll mull it over during the holiday and will probably bite - after all my New Years Resolution is likely to be to spend more time making music and less on Facebook and forums 😉 Oh and drink less beer which would pay for Kontakt - that's how I justified buying TS2 Max 🙂 - but only after drinking less beer!

  7. Can't see this one here. I don't seem able to post the link but head over to NI to find the voucher

Cleverly it starts at a £90 spend - 50p more than a crossgrade to Kontakt7 so I would have to buy one of their £22 instruments / packs to get Kontakt cheaper. Pretty good deal though and I am increasingly tempted as Kontakt also includes two free Play Series (though I can't find much tempting in there!)

  8. Fair comment - I think some of us might have been (hopefully unnecessarily) worried about the way the thread might go

I believe Mike is one of the good guys and I'm probably a bit over protective because of what I owe to his tutorials and the way he presents them. He has shown great candour in personal issues which I find warms me to him even more.
