  1. Bandlab's Studio Instruments are excellent and I believe they're included with Cakewalk? I use the SI-Electric Piano and SI-String Section a lot. Loads of great sounding presets on the Electric piano in particular.
  2. Thanks everyone for the informative feedback and resources, there's certainly a lot to think about. As hsmusic suggested, a sensible course of action would be to employ it within some mixes that I'm currently happy with and see if it makes me any happier! Seasons greetings to you all.
  3. As my journey through the process of making music has progressed, I've become aware that I am completely ignoring the use of compression. I don't record live music - my guitar and bass go through an audio interface into the DAW (either DI or using a mic for acoustic) and my keyboards via MIDI. The drum tracks are always high quality samples that I purchase. I exclusively make instrumental music so vocal tracks are not required. I spend a lot of time balancing the tracks using the faders until what I hear sounds cohesive to my ear and the separate output levels are good. If the overall output level needs adjusting I'll use the master fader. I will then use an EQ across the whole track to adjust the lows, mids and highs to my taste. Under these circumstances would the use of compression add anything to the final product? I'd be very interested to hear your opinions. Thanks.
  4. Since posting this I have also discovered a couple of really good plugins that I thought I'd share: https://www.pluginboutique.com/products/7185-Spaced-Out https://www.pluginboutique.com/products/10701-Dawesome-LOVE
  5. I'm using an Audient iD14. And yes, they're fairly standard fx pedals - drives, delays, reverb etc.
  6. Hi all, I'm exploring the possibility of running some analogue pedals into my audio interface and it was suggested in another thread that a DI box would be an ideal option. Does anyone have any recommendations for boxes best suited for home recording purposes? Thanks!
  7. I'm using an Audient id14 interface which doesn't have that option. Could the pedal be plugged straight into the DI?
  8. Really? Is that an option? It's something that I've never considered for some reason. So effectively: Guitar -> Pedal -> Audio Interface -> DAW
  9. Sorry, got sidetracked. My next question is... what's the best option for using analogue pedals in conjunction with a DAW? Or maybe I should start a new topic on this?
  10. Thanks everyone. Didn't really have a 'goal' as such, was merely playing around to see what it could (or couldn't) do. I already have a recording setup that serves me well, I was interested to see if this might add anything useful to it. One thing I did discover is that the NUX is a very decent platform for pedals so I wondering if this might be an option for recording purposes. Which brings me to my next question....
  11. Thanks Glenn, the NUX is a midi device so would setting that still be applicable? Apologies if that's a silly question, when it comes to the technical aspects of DAWs my skills are not great...
  12. Hi all, Recently bought a NUX Mighty Space amp and was interested to see how it works as a recording device. I've downloaded the editing software and drivers (for Windows) but for some reason I can't get a signal to Cakewalk. I've checked the settings on the NUX editing software and they appear to match up with my settings in the DAW. The only thing I can think of is the drivers I have downloaded for the NUX are ASIO but there is no option for ASIO in the drop down? If anyone else attempted to use the NUX for recording and experienced similar issues, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks!
  13. Thanks for the swift reply. I understand that it has been added for the sake of authenticity but I find it really loud and intrusive. And yes, the features are insane but I'm finding myself avoiding it due to this issue which is a shame,
  14. Hi all, Is anyone else having issues with unwanted hiss when using this plugin. And if so, have you found any efficient ways of removing it? Thanks in advance.
  15. Thanks for the links, I'll be checking these out too.
  16. Wow! There's a lot to explore and also really useful to be able to see the control layouts. Thanks, very much appreciated.
  17. Good shout, Erik! I've literally just installed this and am really enjoying the sounds I'm getting from it. This is exactly the sort of thing I'm after, are there any others that have similar capabilities that I can play with?
  18. Hi everyone, I'm looking for a reverb/delay plugin that will create an airy, atmospheric effect for a guitar part. If you're familiar with the Earthquaker Dispatch Master pedal, then that's the kind of sound I'm after. Does anyone have any recommendations for plugins that will do the job? Thanks!
  19. Thanks Noel but it appears to have fixed itself! I opened up the project again a couple of days later and it was working again as normal. I had replaced the fx plugins on a couple of tracks so maybe it was an issue with one of them. Anyhow, I appreciate the offer.
  20. Hi everyone, I just had this exact same issue with a track I'm currently working on. Everything was working as it normally does and then all the tracks became silent and will only play when the solo button is activated. I am using the latest version 2022.11 and not utilising tracks created in older versions of the software - everything has been freshly recorded. Is anyone else still experiencing this issue? Thanks. PS I've just checked several projects that I've created previously and they all appear to be working fine.
  21. As a couple of people have suggested, it's leakage from the headphones being picked up by the guitars. Some adjustment of the volume levels whilst recording is all that's required. Thanks for your input everyone..
  22. I have tried it with 4 different sets of varying types (including earbuds!) and the issue is apparent with them all. The set I use most often for recording are Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros which are a closed back design.
  23. Yes, I have other sets of headphones so my next step is to see if the issue occurs with them all. My setup is very simple as I am new to this game and didn't want run before I could walk: Instrument > iD4 > PC > Cakewalk.
