  1. The offline activation looks overly complicated.
  2. English is not my first language so excuse any grammatical issues. Let me begin by saying I would totally understand if the team only focus on Windows. I dont know how big the team it is and I know users of Cakewalk want the company to focus on features like the notation editor, and other aspects. That being said I want to make the case for a Linux port. Political tides and the year of the Linux desktop in China If you have followed global politics recently you will know there is kinda a cold war going on between China and the US. China wants its own CPU's and its own homegrown Linux operating system out of fears of back doors and political embargoes, like what is happening to Huawei. Citations: 1. Two of China's largest tech firms are uniting to create a new 'domestic OS' 2. China to ditch all Windows PCs by 2022 – could this be Linux’s time to shine? Bandlab is a Singaporean company with a diverse product portfolio which include the largest musical instrumental chain in Asia, i.e Swee Lee It wont be implausible to say that Linux is going to gain millions of new users in China, a country with more than one billion people and seeing Bandlabs presence in Asia it might be a good move to cater to the Chinese public. A linux port will thus complement Swee Lee's business in China. ChromeOS Linux app support coming up Citation: You'll Soon Be Able to Run Linux Apps on Any Chromebook The moral case for a Linux port In many countries a $100 Microsoft license is a lot of money, this is true for many parts of Africa, South America and Asia. Linux is not only an operating system, its a movement towards open, free and ethical software that is accessible to those less fortunate. Allow people to donate/crowd fund on the Bandlab.Cakewalk site for ports and features As it is Cakewalk is an altruism product, and it probably don't have a massive team. For Bandlab to gain developers with expertise in Linux and Mac please allow crowd funding and donations.
  3. Midnight Faces - Feeling like a stranger
  4. There are many many good audio inferfaces these days, Focusrite, Presonus, Audient etc. But here is one recent release: AudioFuse 8 Link to website Review by Podcast Stage
  5. This bug have been resolved please close. It appears to be indeed plug-in induced crash.
  6. Hello Guys A Cakewalk user and Youtube creator made this video and it showcases a bug in the beginning. This is his feature requests. "One major thing I faced was sometimes the exported output will have sounds at places that I didn't use. In the beginning of the track in my video there is no snare and hat right? But sometimes it did came. & the reason why I had to export so many times is point 2. The final exported audio seems different than what I hear in the DAW. The main difference I experienced was with the extreme low end and extreme high end. They felt higher than what I was hearing in the DAW. And about the improvement, AUTOMATION. Its a pain!!! I was using a plugin with 100s of knobs. Went into automation and I fainted. So many options, that too not named properly (Its a free plugin). It would be great if it was possible to create automation lanes directly by reight clicking and taking the snapshot by right clicking on the knob like we can do with cakewalk's own knobs. It would have helped if the help module pane would atleast show the names of those knobs but it does not."
  7. Solid State Logic is launching two new audio interfaces the SSL 2 and SSL 2+. Because its Solid State Logic people thought it was going to be expensive, but the pricing, starting at $229, is quite affordable imo. I am not affiliated with them, I am just an audio enthusiast.
  8. I just want to add that if you do need a very simple (but capable DAW) then Bandlab's other product Bandlab Online is the ideal DAW.
  9. Please don't "simplify" Cakewalk. I hate this trend of dumbing down software and minimalism. The core features of CakeWalk is easy to learn. The manual in fact has a chapter dealing with the core features. If you dont know how to arm a track and press record then you just have not spend that little bit of time needed to master these core features.
  10. I definitely think there are a good case for two modes, "Easy/Basic" and "Normal". Thus BandLab can cater for people like podcasters etc and another for the power users. To understand why easy mode is a just cause you have to analyse the impact of Garageband. Below are two articles you might find interesting. https://pitchfork.com/features/article/9728-democracy-of-sound-is-garageband-good-for-music/ https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/apple-garageband-modern-music-784257/
  11. Maybe there can be two versions of the UI, which you can you can toggle? One simple, GarageBand esque UI and the other one the default UI for advanced users (which is the current one).
  12. Doing the basics on Cakewalk is easy. There is just a slight learning curve. Arming a track and pressing record is very easy. Creating new tracks is very easy. Making things easier and dumbing down software is something that is infuriating to power users. If people want very very basic there are options, like Audacity.
  13. Just want to mention that I really appreciate BandLabs direction to make CakeWalk a super stable host first. That is the most important thing.
  14. I recently read how few millennials can afford big houses in the US and around the world. These folks can't host a traditional band with drums, physical instruments, big amps and such in their homes. Thus a lot of new music are electronic computer made music, made by one man bands using synths, drum plugins, loops, sampling and step sequencers. This is why FLstudio is the most popular DAW in the world at the moment as polled by Music Radar. I really hope CbB can create some kind of parity with this types of DAW's. This would increase CbB's user base by a massive amount. But I understand if CbB want to focus on audio at the moment. One step at a time.
  15. You guys at CbB are awesome! This is going to be the best DAW in the world.
  16. @SomeGuy I am extremely grateful to the new owner of CakeWalk. I believe him and the developers of CdB would like to satisfy all of its users, catering to the audio, electronic music and composing crowds simultaneously. At the moment Bandlab are aiming towards 100 employees. The startup itself is fully funded and the investors of Bandlab have a net worth of $13.2 Billion Dollars US. I believe the resources to turn this DAW into an all-rounder are there and it will happen. We just have to be patient.
  17. Also note Autogun synth, its free and it have an amazing amount of presets. https://www.image-line.com/plugins/Synths/Autogun/
  18. I think my previous comment are very short sighted. The community have spoken and Cakewalk will focus on bug fixes and audio improvements. The electronic music crowd will probably use VST's in conjunction with Cakewalk. I believe in the future the step sequencer and sampler will be souped up. To satisfy everybody will be very difficult and I am glad for what we have. Cakewalk is not just a DAW anymore, its a movement.
  19. There are no reason why the features cant co-exist. In my opinion Cakewalk should become more "electronic music producer" friendly because that is where the most users are.
  20. Cheers Paul. We are so spoiled for choice, Sony, JBL, Sennheizer, TinAudio, BeyerDynamic, Audio Technica, Philips...all make affordable earbuds these days. Its a shame you can just go into a shop and try all of them all out.
  21. From a lot of reviews these Panasonic's are supposedly the best value for money. https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Headphones-RP-HJE120-K-Ergonomic-Comfort-Fit/dp/B003EM8008 https://www.cnet.com/reviews/panasonic-ergo-fit-review/
  22. I can recommend two more free synths. Surge https://surge-synthesizer.github.io Helm https://tytel.org/helm/
  23. Are they working on this? Is it going to be re-released in the future or is it abandon ware?
