Of course OP "forgot" to add the proper product link. 🤣

I figured anyone interested in the latest version probably knew where to get it.  My bad.  (nevermind, I see the error of my ways).

    FX

add per-FX instance and per-FX chain oversampling options (if both chain and instance are set, the higher of the two is used)

add preferences for item vertical overlap percentage and opacity

add preference for minimum height to display peaks

change default item mix behavior to "items always mix", existing projects and user default project settings are unaffected

don't display cursor feedback when mouse is over controls of locked items

update mouse click prioritization to prefer opaque unselected items over transparent selected items (prevent clicking controls that are behind other items)

locked items do not autocrossfade with unlocked items

prevent editing take envelopes when item is locked

    Razor edits

razor edits on free item positioning lanes snap to item tops/bottoms, do not necessarily span the entire track height

add "razor edits affect all track envelopes", separate from "move envelope points with media items"

fix incorrect group selection edge highlight when razor editing

fix behavior when stretching right edge of razor edit with ripple edit enabled and automation items later on the track •

fix flickering display after running action to cut selected area of items •

    Free item positioning

fix minor time selection display issue •

    glued items inherit FIPM y-positioning

fix in-place conversion for non-boot macOS volumes •

    Media explorer

add action to delete file with prompting

fix updating database metadata when database is not on the local filesystem

    Projects

  3. This is nice:

"With the release of 12.0.10, we also made the Cubase Pro 12 trial available. The big news is that the trial doesn’t require the USB eLicenser anymore. Hence, there is no more reason not to try Cubase."

  4. Off topic...  I'm a bit of a synth vsti snob.  I'm easily bored with subtractive synthesis with just the 3 basic waveforms.  But when I listen to some of the programs which come with the u-He Tyrell N6, I'm blown away by what people are able to come up with, using what seems like a very finite set of components.  It's all about programming.

I did that today until I had to go back to the kitchen and finish up a project I started.  But I will be using it more now that I remembered I have it.

Example: Alright Now by Free. Paul K is doing something other than what I have seen everybody do. Everybody seems to play the D chord with the added little finger note (G). That's not what he is doing. I  was able to slow it down, keeping in pitch, and just play the section I was working on really easy.  Now I almost have it the way he's doing it!!

Very useful tool. I wanna tackle "Ten Years Gone" by Zep.

    Short, sweet and accurate:

    >>I've been using Studio One over 10 years now and I can honestly say I can't remember a single crash that was caused by Studio One. I was running it off digital camera SD cards for a while because I had 2 HDD's die on me and not once did I have a problem doing that. >>

Were you running a portable install off the SD cards or was it just your projects and media on there?

  7. I just happened on this thread.  I enjoyed the first Madonna video, but after reading the first page of comments, I'm thinking - "Did I miss something?  I didn't see anything about making Madonna laugh".  So I rolled through all 5 pages and finally saw this most recent video.

I really enjoyed it, but what I'd really like to hear about is the first time you showed Madonna Band-in-a-Box.

  8. I posted this in another thread, but...

I've got an unregistered boxed competitive crossgrade to Cubase Pro 10.  Do I have the luxury of waiting to see what's in version 12 before I register or should I register now, get 11 on my e-Licenser and then get 12 for free when it is available.

    Sorry, I'm confused.

  9. Once you use this for a bit, you'll want to kick yourself for not buying it sooner.  I haven't even come close to mastering it, but it has resulted in me being able to come up with tunes I would never have been able to previously.

I gotta try reaper. Starting to really worry about cubase.

Given the delay of 11.5 / 12 and the DAW landscape, I'm expecting something really spectacular.  There is already something of a "dump Cubase movement".  It's theirs to lose.

  11. A DAW is like a spouse - you aren't just marrying them - It's also their family.

Cakewalk and REAPER have nice families.

If I ever activate Cubase or get S1, I have my concerns about the community and the company.

I just bought a vintage Tascam 4 Track on FB marketplace to replace the one I used decades ago that died. I've been transferring my old masters in to my DAW and having a blast. I also have a Tascam 8 Track but it only has 4 outputs. Honestly, the 4 track sounds better. Must be the tape speed because it is normal speed while the 8 track is double which may be why the tapes make a warbling sound over time as well. I don't know.

This was back when I got my 4 Track on Facebook marketplace.

What a great idea - my nearly 40 year-old PortaStudio II is in the basement along with my original cassettes.  It would be a blast to go through that old stuff.
