    Lo-fi effects come from what were considered undesirable elements by audio engineers back in the early days of tape recording. For example, degraded audio signals, fluctuations in tape speed, imperfections in the mixing process such as an audible “hiss”, or a distortion in the sound.

    Virtual Acoustic releases "VA2G Campionessa" - Accordion for Kontakt

    Virtual Acoustic has announced, VA2G Campionessa, a new type of accordion sample instrument. They say:

    Now the sound depends on several factors and the reality of the tone is raised to a much higher level. The samples have been processed in detail and are now very mix friendly. In addition to the pure sounds of the accordion, there are all possible noises that the accordion creates when playing: Key on, key off, register and bellows noise. The tone can also be suppressed/bent with the help of aftertouch control, which in the real version of the accordion is obtained by insufficient pressure of the button. It is suitable for various genres of music. There is also the possibility of saving your own presets.

    Soft, warm and wide sounds are the main features of this model. Four-voices accordion, two voices in the room (cassotto) and two outside. Standard Balkan tune. Guerrini Champion accordion (very different from the previous version) was used for sampling.

    ROLI release Orchestral Ensembles for Equator 2 and ROLI Studio

    ROLI have released Orchestral Ensembles, an MPE enabled Orchestral sound library for their Equator 2 and ROLI Studio instruments.

    Orchestral Ensembles features over 50 MPE and standard MIDI string, woodwind, and brass sounds — plus presets that blend all three together to recreate the swell of an entire orchestra.

    A String ensemble of 18 players, a Brass ensemble of 12 players and a Woodwind ensemble of 11 players were captured in detail for the library in a unique seating arrangement in order of pitch in the stereo field. This unique arrangement suits sounds destined for a keyboard or Seaboard, as the pitch and position match a grand piano (with the low instruments on the left and higher instruments on the right-hand side).

    The sessions were recorded with over 20 microphones, including a Neumann M150 decca tree setup, DPA 4006 and Sennheiser MKH20 room mics, as well as Neumann, Schoeps, Coles and Royer close mics before being mixed together.
