Thank you so much, Treesha! In the last 10 minutes I made some changes to this. After hearing a consensus form regarding the low end, I made some slight adjustments that I hope will address this issue. Your input is greatly appreciated.

It has a little tension built into it in the right spots that sets up for the relief areas. Nice performance throughout. And while I was at SClick I got a chance to hear one of your other tunes titled "Behind Enemy Lines". Nice progressive rock guitar work in that project. Cool lyrics too. "Spell bound" is also right up there too. Cool vocal treatment and harmonies, and again, nice guitar work. You have a lot of nice songs and talent for writing, Lynn. Much enjoyed. Thanks.
FreeEarCandy, thank you for your kind words and time! I'm very pleased that you took the time to listen to some of my other songs, as well. I hope your holidays are filled with peace and joy!

Wow, this puts me in a very good mood! Well done. Wishing you and Liz the merriest of Christmases!

Treesha, you nailed this! I like the song, the lyrics, and your vocal and instrumental performances. It goes in unexpected places which really piques my interest. After listening to this several times on different days, the mix has grown on me. Having said that, perhaps the vocals could be cleaned up a little by using a hi-pass filter to clear the lower midrange of your voice, though you could leave this alone, and who would be wiser? Keep up the good work!!

Jack, this is one of the most interesting songs I've heard from you. The vocal and words are somewhat poignant which goes well with your chord progression and melody. This deserves a wider audience!
-
Kevin, you're hitting on all cylinders with this mix. Your singing and playing are so soulful that I keep going back to them for more! It just gets better over time.
For the record, whenever you post a song, I typically listen to it numerous times because I love your songwriting! Keep up the good work and happy holidays to you.

I've now listened to this 3 times and still can't believe it's over 4 minutes long. I'm always left with wanting more. I love your guitar solo!! I hear and feel the sadness. Great songwriting and performance with an emotive mix. Encore!

Song is wonderful. Love it mate.
Incidentally it sounds great on my phone.
Thanks a ton, mate! I actually used my phone to monitor this at some stage in the process. Happy holidays to you and Liz!

With regard to the other comments and the lack of bass, IMO (and due to the fact I was accompanying this in the studio with strings) I feel a lower register strings pad could help fill out the overall mix and would also make the lyric work a little better. For my part I think the mix is fine though.
You know Lynn, you have a lot of the Beatles chord changes in this and I could hear Harrison doing this one.
You have the toy I want for the new year, I've invested in Ni's Maschine plus bit'n'bobs and Keys2 would be a step too far at the moment but just to say it sounds great soo ... .
Steve
Steve, your words are always meaningful to me! I have taken the above advice and tweaked the bass while trying out some new approaches to this mix. I haven't posted yet, but the results are interesting. I'd love to hear Harrison do this; either Dhani or Olivia
You certainly don't need EZK 2 to get those "Beatles" chords, but in your hands, God only knows what you would come up with. Thanks a million!

To me .. it also seems to be missing some compression "glue" to smooth it out a little more. I did listen on some "somewhat" hyped cans but the same ones I use for all online listening.
Great performance , Enjoyed it .. mark
Mark, thank you for your time and advice! I think you're on to something, and I'll test this out later. I'm glad you like the song!
12 hours ago, KSband said:Boy, there is a lot of details in there, very cool work. Great song and arrangement! I agree the bass could use improvement. Is it a real bass? I think a McCartney sound would be fantastic on this. He used a pick and a tube amp, it made a somewhat percussive sound that is so cool, you just don't hear that with bass anymore. I find bass sounds the toughest to get right.
KS, I like your idea of a McCartney style bass. I originally thought of making this piano only, but I kept adding this and that and ended up with what you hear. Thank you for your time and effort!

Mix-wise my ear wanted to hear a bit more bottom end, and maybe a bit more drums. I spent a bit of time listening to some of your other tunes on SoundClick, some really good stuff there. You've got a great sound that's all yours.

Really like this - I agree with Kevin re the Bottom end could do with coming up a bit.
The only other thing was the keyboard - did you have a lot of reverb on that?
Apart from that, enjoyed this
Nigel
Thank you Kevin and Nigel! I was trying to be oh, so careful not to overload the low end, but maybe too careful. As for the reverb, I did choose a preset with plenty of reverb because I rarely use much at all. I've listened to so many piano songs drenched in reverb that I might have thought that it's normal. Anyway, these are two areas I'll look at very closely on the next pass. Good ears!

Greetings and salutations to all my CW friends this holiday season. I hope all is well for everybody in these challenging times.
Here is a song that I wrote last summer using EZ Keys 2, Midi Guitar 2, SD3, and the other usual suspects. It is the first song I used EZ Key 2 on, and it is quite a tool; now I have to learn how to play this manually 😆 It's about that person almost everyone knows who goes about his or her life, quietly in the background, doing those small things that make everyone's life a little easier. As always, I look forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions for this, and I want to thank all of you for your time and effort!
It can be found here: https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14611150
12/23: I've updated this to take advantage of the good suggestions I've received. I increased the low end by adjusting the bass and drums. Once I started making changes others followed, but most were subtle for clarity's sake. I really appreciate all your input!

This was a good start to my day! It's all very organic and sweet, but too short. (it's perfect)

Great 80's style song and sound! I'm not surprised that you were involved in this; I expect quality from you. I've just started doing the same thing in Next with some of my old tunes, and I'm very impressed with the quality, so far. If you've got more, I'd love to hear them.

It's not easy to write a good Christmas song, and this is a good one! Congrats, Steve on a super production. Merry Christmas to you, too.

I love the arrangement in this song; it takes unexpected turns and is dissonant in a very good way! The mix is very sophisticated and dense which is not easy to pull off. I've lately learned the value of widening my mixes so I appreciate the feedback you got, though this song can stand as is. I had a lot of fun listening to this.

Kevin, this is on the road to becoming a brilliant song! Your vocals are haunting though not quite clear (at low volume), but regardless, terrific! I'm sure you'll get this right.

You wrote a beautiful song, Rex! I, too, share your love of CW, and I'm constantly amazed at its proficiency. I'm looking forward to the next phase. Keep up the good work, and have a great holiday season!
