Yeah, the big push before VCV Rack pisses in all the modular plug-ins cornflakes

I'm really interested to see if they do any major updates to the audio engine. It's the worst sounding of the big 3 right now with Softube being the best sounding but not as easy to work with as Cherry Audio Modular which doesn't sound as good but has a better workflow. VCV's big thing was it was all free and loaded with modules. I am not sure how that will all translate to 2.0 though.

Use your survey or monthly voucher instead of the one above makes this $14.99

Add bx_tuner to cart, use the general monthly voucher on top of the CHERRY-1999 voucher for yet another $1 off! :)

    $13.99

Thanks, scook.  I saw the notices too, but was surprised that a non-US company had sales tax nexus in the US.

Most of my plugin purchases are from non-US companies, and I seldom, if ever, pay sales taxes.  Maybe I should have; who knows.

It's because Cleverbridge is based in the US so they charge sales tax on everything that goes through their portal because of the law changes that happened a couple years ago. It's annoying as hell and I wish companies would just stop using them. :P

  4. Linus did really good at covering some of the complaints this past weekend on WAN show and why some of this stuff is in place.

I hope you are correct!  I fear that some DAW developers (like Steinberg/Cubase) will demand Windows 11 for their upgrades, or that some vst developers will require the latest Windows (11) for their updates/upgrades.

I have a 7th gen intel chip that works just fine, but some sites are saying that Microsoft in addition to the TPM are also requiring at least an 8th gen processor.

This is really a sad development from Microsoft. As I said elsewhere, a lot of DAW computers will fail to meet the WIN11 requirements.  Really Sad!

FYI--I do try to upgrade my DAW Computer every three or four years, but I think I will wait for motherboards to come out that are stable, tested and have TPM already onboard and are certified as Window 11 compliant.

That's how progress works though. Things change and developers want to take advantage of new technologies coming out. That will take time though and especially when you are putting out a product to make money on, you don't want to limit your options of how many people will buy it right away. With the microprocessor shortage and the hardware shortages overall, companies will be more careful about putting out products with such limitations because it's going to be very difficult getting the iron to run them. I still don't have a 5950X to replace my 3950X because I'm competing with gamers and cryptominers alike for those processors and now AMD is getting ready to show off the next generation of Zen so by the time I get a chance to purchase a 5950X, it will be old news.

Plus, anyone who adopts a new OS for a work machine or a machine they require for stable daily use is a fool. They get it and then wonder why nothing works for it or why it's crashing all the time. I'll wait a bit to load 11 on my personal machine and at least a year before I put it in the studio. Meanwhile, so many Mac users be like "OMG IS IT BIG SUR COMPATIBLE YET?!?!?!?!?! WHY CAN'T I USE IT!??!?!?!??!"

  6. I'm really looking forward to it. The new GUI is sleek.

Snap Layouts and Groups are going to be a massive help to productivity, multiple desktops will be great for my personal computer. I may use them to separate different things I'm doing on the studio.

Teams integration I'm cautiously happy about. I like the idea but I'm not getting excited until I know it works well. It should make working remote with people a bit easier.

Widgets I like the idea of on my personal computer but will turn it off on the studio. The update we got the other day with the new widget panel on 10 I'm not very impressed with. It needs a lot of work yet.

The gaming stuff I don't really care about.

I would like to see more integration between multiple devices. I'm wondering if they will make any changes to networking computers together.

Also, some of you guys are getting an error saying you can't run Windows 11 because you need to turn on TPM 2.0. https://www.howtogeek.com/737171/how-to-fix-this-pc-cant-run-windows-11/

For the rest, stop living up to the stereotype that Sonar users are a bunch of outdated old heads who spend thousands a year on plugins to run on a 12 year old computer. lol

I'm with you on the Steelcase Leap. Mine came with a 10 year warranty, and they sent a tech to my home to replace the gas strut and the armrests after ~9.5 years. Best investment I ever made! Still going strong, and my back has never felt better! :)

We had a few of those Aeron chairs at the office that my team mates used to fight over, but I never really found them all that comfortable for sitting  up at a desk. And the rim on the front of the seat always dug into the back of my legs.

Tip: Ignore the retail prices on that Steelcase website, as they are about twice what Amazon sells them for...

That Gesture does look like a fine chair, for around $1,000 at Amazon.  But at this point my Leap's likely to outlive me, LOL.

I had mine serviced about 4 years ago and the company I bought it from came and did it here so I could have my chair back that day. Got all new pads and arm rests put on as well as new fabric. I'll likely keep this one in the studio once I get my Gesture as a secondary. My only complaint is mine is squeaking right now when I lean back so I need to get it lubricated again but waiting till covid be gone to do it.

Relax everybody.  This is InMusic, the marketing geniuses who have taken the SONiVOX and AIR Technology brands to the heights of the industry.

Be patient.  You'll soon be able to get BFD for $2.99 at Plugin Boutique.   😀   or maybe fish out some serials out of a bin at K-Mart.

Free with any purchase for the month. ;)

Latest IS a third WILL be required.

Yup, I got my first two days ago and was told there will be a booster in fall/winter. If it works and we can get rid of covid and we manage to eradicate this thing and get back to having live events, I'm all for it.
