When you say from the "Help menu", you mean  the help menu  inside cakewalk I assume?

When I try that I get the attached message:  "Connection Error - Could not check for updates. Please try again later"

I suspect that your currently installed version of Cakewalk is too old for the update to work from the help menu.

If I remember correctly, you can run the Cakewalk Installer to overwrite install the latest version without uninstalling. (Sorry if I'm misremembering...)

  2. This is my personal perception.

If only the track name is highlighted, that track simply has the focus with the track selected, and some shortcut key operation will operate on that track.

If the track number is highlighted, it is a little more complicated.
If you click on a track number to highlight it, clips (Audio or MIDI) in that track are selected, and the other way round, if you select clips, the corresponding track number is highlighted. Furthermore, if the selected clips spans multiple tracks, all corresponding track numbers will be highlighted.
(When there is a selection in the time ruler, these behavior gets even more complicated...)

I think you need to get a sense of it through actual experience.

  3. Are you using USB 3.0 devices such as thumb drives? If so...

High-frequency noise generated by USB 3.0 devices may affect devices using the 2.4 GHz band, such as the following

    • Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) IEEE 802.11b/g/n
    • Bluetooth
    • 2.4 GHz wireless peripherals (mouse, keyboard, etc.)

The solution to this is, for example...

    • Separate the USB 3.0 port from the receiver
    • Use a USB extension cable to separate the USB 3.0 port from the USB 2.0 connector
    • Replace with a shielded device to reduce noise
    • Connect the receiver to the USB 2.0 port

    CakewalkHelp_Documentation_1.0.0.21.exe

I guess it will update a local help file which you can see with pressing F1 key (or Help > Documentation) when the "Always Use Local Help" option is enabled in the preferences (File - Advanced).

I installed BandLab Assistant, but still can't see where to install SI. It looks like SI does not come with CbB because if it did I assume I would see it.

Launch CbB > Open Help menu > Click "Check for Updates"
If you don't have the latest Studio Instruments Suite on your PC, a toast should pop up to download it, I guess.

@Peter - IK Multimedia Just a thought with my strategist hat on, but if management's concern is about excessive re-downloads, how about they restrict re-downloads to x many times per period, such as a maximum of 2 re-downloads per 190 days or pay a fee? It might be a way to find some middle ground with management that thinks the current approach is a good idea. It would also give them a win with customers, as IK could announce the policy change as a result of listening to their customers and  being customer-centric.

    Good idea.
At the very least, it would be nice if the 180 day countdown did not start for libraries that have never been downloaded.

Unfortunately, I was unaware of this policy and have a library that has gone 180 days without being downloaded once. When I found out about this system, I screamed "D**n it! F**k you, as**ole"

Given that, if it's true, you might see why I came to the conclusion that CbB was closer to Professional than Platinum in features.

Platinum and Professional are not the same when compared based on the core program alone, excluding plug-ins and add-ons.
There's only one difference that I remember but at least Professional didn't have a "Plug-in load balancing" option, it was for Platinum only.
From that perspective, CbB is based on Platinum's core program.

P.S. It seems the dithering options for Pow-r 1, 2, and 3 were also only available in Platinum.

I purchased MPS 5.2 in July of this year (I have a receipt marked MPS 5.2) but it's showed as MPS 5.1 in the Product Portal and I can see only the higher offer price $229 on the iZotope site.
I asked iZotope Support and they insist that there is no MPS 5.2, only MPS 5.1 plus extra.
What the heck is going on...

Just purchase the upgrade to MPS 6 on JRRshop for $41.16 (with code GROUP)! You will get a MPS 6 serial that you can enter in the Product Portal of iZotope!

Music Production Suite 6 Upgrade from MPS 5 August

This specially priced Music Production Suite Upgrade is only for customers who purchased MPS 5 in August, 2023. Please do not order if you purchased MPS 5 at an earlier time.

I purchased MPS 5.2 in July, so does not appear to be eligible for this special price... 😭

The MSI that HIBI mentioned does seem to slow the fans at lower temperatures.

FYI, the MSI link I provided says "The fans completely stop when temperatures are relatively low.".
    Anyway, it's your choice. 🙂
