  1. I'm new to Reaper. After getting it, I feel like this is the DAW I should have used all along. But the current version 7 of Reaper is actually the best version to get as newcomer. It feels like it can do everything every other DAW can do. With the help of freely available scripts that you can easily get for it($0), you can have a visual modulation environment to modulate ANYTHING (the Q knob of an EQ modulated by the mix knob of a Reverb or anything crazy like that, even in parallel!), a visual scripting environment to create your own scripts, and effects that are on par or better than ones you have to pay for.

It would have actually saved me a lot of money on plugins if I got Reaper as my first DAW actually. 😆

    All for $60! 🤑😛🤪🤣

Reaper users are like lynx users....or People's Temple converts.

Come on and drink the kool aid! 🧉

LOL! This is what people on other forums may be like. But after my disappointment with Sonar then finding a video of a cool layout of Reaper, I decided to check it out. I was impressed by how much more it can do than all versions of Cakewalk. Both in theme customization and functionality customization. And at $60 it was an easy decision.

What subscription scheme are you referring to? To my knowledge, Cakewalk have announced neither a subscription model nor a perpetual model for Sonar licensing.

They currently have something where you get access to a pre-release version of it with a BandLab membership. But it's only a pre-release, not the actual shipping version.

    Did I miss something?

You missed a whole thread LOL!

So you're saying that reaper sounds better than reason? By how much? 20-40%?

Funny thing is I knew someone would make the joke about Reason when I typed "reason". 🤣

I had Reason 11 Suite for years now and only use it as a plug-in for the Rack Extensions and it works just fine in Reaper so it has no reason (pun intended) to be mentioned in my original post unless your reason is different to my reason. But I don't see the reason in that. 😛
