  1. tmpc on VI Control contacted Waves and was told "they are moving to a different company to handle the actual license generation and management" I still think I might be right about them getting rid of WUP. Maybe moving back to iLok. It made sense to use their own license manager when creating new iLok licenses comes at a cost and new Waves versions covered under WUP required generating new licenses. But what an error prone mess Waves licenses are. I'm terrified of updating Waves plugins because half the time everything disappears and I have to do some kind of deep clean to get them back. It must have been costing Waves a fortune in support dealing with all the issues. Whereas iLok, for all the hate it gets, works pretty reliably these days. So if there's no more WUP, then there's no reason to maintain their own licensing and copy-protection regime when iLok does it better. Anyway that's just my guess... partly fueled by wishful thinking 🙂
  2. This is one United Plugins plugin I'm really happy to have bought. I copied the settings I saw someone demo in a YouTube video and saved it as a preset to add crunch to drums, and using that I can take super clean SSD5 drums and make them sound like Goldbaby samples. So I think adding some new presets was a good call.
  3. I've been keeping an eye on Unify and the deals really are few and far between so I decided it was best to grab this while it was reduced. Looking forward to learning more about it. Clearly I'm going to have to read the manual because I couldn't figure out how to scan for VSTs 😊
  4. I wondered what SS might stand for? Maybe "Secret Sale"?
  5. Hi all Bit of a niche deal, this one. But in case it comes in handy for anyone else... Syn'X is currently available for 99 Euro directly from XILS. https://www.xils-lab.com/products/syn-x-p-134.html If you bought Mini Syn'X you would have been eligible for a discount when upgrading to Syn'X that worked as a coupon code that reduced the full price of Syn'X. Previously I'm pretty sure the discount was 39 Euro. I paid 59 Euro for Mini Syn'X so it never seemed like a good deal to upgrade to me. But Syn'X has never come down very cheaply. Perhaps because they have this upgrade angle to deal with. Anyway at present the upgrade coupon is worth 59 euro, which brings the price down to 40 Euro. So at that point, I jumped. FYI Mini Syn'X is serial protected. Syn'X requires iLok.
  6. Nice. I use headphones all the time. The 1990 Pros are the ones I had thought about stumping up for. Guess I'd better start saving then!
  7. Haha, well I'm glad you found it subtle too! I really expected the addition of crosstalk to be more noticeable. I have Realphones already, and I really dig it. I haven't been using it lately because of the CPU load on my aging machine, but I think I'll have to start using it again, because I immediately got a wow factor when comparing it to Canopener last night on my AKG 701s. Re better headphones I'm conscious the Realphones recommendations are that to get the best experience one should spend a bit more than the tier of headphones I already own (HD600s are my other goto) but I don't find it as easy to spend hundreds on headphones these days, and I'm pretty happy with the cans I currently have. What headphones do you use?
  8. Spent the day thinking I'd get home and demo Canopener then buy it, based on the positive feedback I had read about it online. But in the youtube video I checked out during my lunch break, I couldn't hear any difference between when it was enabled and when it was disabled. Installed the demo. Still can't hear the difference. Not sure if it's just subtle stuff or if I'm just not cut out for mixing.
  9. According to this Facebook thread it might be a serial based protection. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0yvKXKizKKtsZtDFLDJcVEHxsSkn7Dq7Nkh2fvTkRyHFjhDVBxkvGcbpdHwkfpDzBl&id=207277397138
  10. @D-Fused Sounds how long is this sale on for?
  11. Vouchers every month! Broke by June!
  12. There was an apology email from the team member at GForce who looks after the website. He mentioned an issue with a database loop. I've worked on projects where this kind of issue has brought websites to a halt during intense purchasing periods, so I have felt their pain. Sometimes it's not easy to rearchitect the code when the issue involves database calls made through an underlying framework library that simplifies things for the developer at the expense of obfuscating how the database is being queried. It's especially not easy when you're trying to allow buyers to complete their purchases simultaneously while you try to investigate and fix the issue(s).
  13. It's possible you're being offered $49 off the (full) price of Keysuite Bundle. Maybe try adding the deal to your cart to check. I think everyone who gets this offer gets super excited then almost equally disappointed haha.
  14. Did you compare Miniverse against anything more recent than version 1? That thing is showing its age. I can't say I ever felt inclined to use it after picking it up for free, but the V2 demo seems pretty capable. Just wondering if you had any thoughts about the Cherry Miniverse vs Softube Model 72, Synapse The Legend, or the UAD Minimoog perhaps? I haven't demoed the Miniverse yet.
  15. They gave version 1 away last year as a Sound Collective freebie, so that's a lot of prospective upgraders. Including me 😊
  16. Are you saying you should have listened to Zo and bought Bassynth? That the advice to buy serum presets was poor? As someone who still thinks about buying Serum and is also contemplating Bassynth I'd be interested in your thoughts.
  17. Seems fair, people on the top tier of loyalty discount could be competing with Acustica for sales.
  18. Wow, this thing is impressive! Very convincing, and a surprising range of sounds possible. Didn't take long to decide to buy this, especially when I realised I had 86 rewards points in my account. Total outlay only $19 after cashing in 50 rewards points for a $50 off voucher.
  19. I think they're going to announce the end of WUP! Waves is going to become cool again.
  20. When I click upgrade and then add the promo code to the cart, it shows what the upgrade discount is based on at the top. Mine says "Volume 5 (upgrade from Marshall Plexi)". I also own Amp Room, Drawmer S73, TSAR-1R and Tube Delay. I get the uninspiring $349.50 upgrade price. May I ask what it says your upgrade is from, to be offered $39.50?
  21. I noticed that UVI String Machines 2 has samples of the Streichfett amongst the collection. Since my Streichfett demo period has expired, I can't compare them directly.
  22. Considering the launch discount was 33 Euro my suggestion is wait for a sale. Often when JRR adds a product it's because a sale is coming up. I demoed it at launch and it sounds pretty good but I thought I was good for strings with Gforce Virtual String Machine. But apparently I wasn't because then I bought the XILS string machine bundle, and after buying UVI Vintage Vault I discovered its string machine library is far superior to Gforce's, to my ears anyway. So once again I think I'm good for string machines. I'll probably still buy this when it goes on sale if it comes back down to $33 ish. Who doesn't love string synths!
  23. Being an SE product it's a cut down version, the full Mixbox has 70 modules where this one has 24.
  24. I do have a decent case with fans but you're right I need to re thermal paste it, and probably the cooler which is stock. My problem is that it seems any money spent would be better spent on a new machine 😊 So maybe I'll just clean the heatsink fins out instead.
