The FX collection is a separate product to the V Collection. So if your offer is to upgrade 7 to 8 for $149 it won't include the Fx Collection 2. The reason I think some of us got this offer for $129 is that Arturia was including OBXa with V collection 7 for $299 last year and that's when I bought it. So owning one of the synths in 8 means we get a slightly cheaper price for the upgrade. (but if you had bought V Collection 7 for $249 you'd be ahead as 299 + 149 > 249 + 129) If I had taken up the $29 offers to upgrade Stage 73 or Jup 8 maybe my upgrade price would have been even lower, like $99.

Hehe me too. Various entries in Arturia V Collection 7 have been some of my most frequently used instruments over the past year and a bit. I'd actually logged in repeatedly in the past week, looking at the $299 upgrade price each time to see if it had dropped, so it would have been crass of me to ignore it 🙂

I don't have UAD (yet lol) but the Sanctuary mode in Valhalla Vintage Verb is said to be inspired by the EMT 250. I demoed it against the TC one, Nimbus, VSR S24 (on a hunch) and the EMT 250 impulse responses and they can all sound pretty close at the right settings. I'd probably be happy enough with VVV. I really should buy that one of these days. Never being on sale, there's no rush...

That may have been the TC Electronics one, it has a controller that can authorise the software in place of iLok.

At first listen I was really taken by this. It seemed to add something to the high end that none of my other reverbs had. But after comparing to some EMT 250 impulse responses and getting out MMultiAnalyzer I realised it's that ERS 250 aliases like crazy, with shrill disharmonic tones clearly audible. Totally unsalvageable. Thankfully it has up to 4x oversampling, so I turned that on.... only it actually made it worse, if you can believe it! I checked out the TC EMT 250 plugin as well and that one is as clean as a whistle. But I don't want to spend $90 even if its currently reduced from $199. I'm keen to upgrade. The Jupiter 8 V4 is significantly improved, and so is the Stage 73 V2 (I've been geeking out over electric pianos since the discussion about the Famous E). I was really hoping it'd be $99 though. Wonder if it'll come down to that at Black Friday. I'll probably bite at $129

Wow. I don't even need any more piano plugins, but Simeon's demo of the Pearl Concert Grand was enough to convince me to add these to the collection. Now I just need to learn to play like that, lol.

They should have a sale to celebrate this new old update.

I think it'll be a new Amplitude collection. Peter's announcement mentions the finest tones, which to my mind is mostly to do with the amp and cabinet and other effects like pedals rather than the guitar model itself. Also, Amplitude is described as offering tones. Peter, if I guessed right can we have a Total Studio spectacular sale soon? 🙂

It's an invalid code for me too. I only own Model 72, Model 84, and Valley People Dyna-Mite, none of which are in the Volume 5 bundle. Does anyone know what the upgrade cost looks like if you own a single product in the Volume 5 bundle? Wondering if I should pick up one of the included products individually from the current sale, and then upgrade from there, or wait for August when the bundle will probably go on sale for $450 USD at 50% off (based on last year's schedule).

In case you weren't aware of this, there's an option when you're paying through paypal and it shows you the converted rate in your local currency, "View currency conversion options" that allows you to pay in the original currency and then you'll get your own banks exchange rates. My bank gives pretty much the exchange rate, and because we have our home loan with them they don't charge currency conversion fees, so it works out saving me money each time. Unfortunately when I'm spending above and beyond and need to use credit, my credit card company charges exorbitant currency conversion fees so it makes the pain of overspending even greater. I think it ends up being about the same as what Paypal charges that way.

Everyone hates WUP but the conclusion I came to a while back after some research and giving a good bit of thought was that there are upgrade costs with most plugins and the way it works with Waves isn't really that bad. Eg Reason (I just paid to upgrade from 10 to 11 to get high res support down the track - no idea if it will be any good). This is a DAW even though I only want to use it as a VST plugin nowadays and of course to get the VST rack I had to upgrade. Speaking of DAWs though they mostly charge for upgrades pretty frequently (Ableton, Cubase, Reaper every 2 versions). Native instruments Komplete I am trying to force myself to wait for version 14 and the upgrades are more expensive the more you own. No resizable UI in many of their older workhorse plugins despite paying for upgrades to get the new stuff. Plugin Alliance brings out multiple paid upgrades for the same plugins quite ruthlessly. Arturia finally made their Jupiter 8 sound good in a paid V Collection upgrade. Hopefully they give the Minimoog, CS80 and Prophet the same treatment in future. IK Multimedia, Acustica and iZotope releases multiple paid upgrades. Many smaller operations charge for upgrades too. The companies that don't charge for upgrades often either never go back to fix up or improve their plugins (eg no resizable UI, or insufficient CPU optimisation, or bugs that go unfixed), or they release "new" products with the extra features that bear remarkable similarity to their older plugins. They will happily sell those old pretty much unsupported plugins to new customers though. I could name names but I don't really want to name and shame smaller companies. If they're still in business that's a start. There's never going to be an update if they go under. There are a few standout developers that add features and support their plugins over time with small or no upgrade costs but they generally have excellent word of mouth, such as TAL, u-he, Valhalla. Or they use it as a point of differentiation (and presumably sell to enough new customers to make such an approach viable) such as FL Studio. At the end of the day, companies need an income stream to stay in business and keep the plugins we use working as things change. New hardware (M1), new operating systems, higher res displays, higher sample rates, support for new DAWs, it's an ever changing landscape. So at this point I'm OK with the expectation of paying WUP from time to time. I'd joyfully pay it if they released better high res support such as vector graphics. Many of their plugins look pretty ugly. If they all looked amazing maybe they wouldn't get such a bad rap. Anyway that's the rationale for jumping into the Waves ecosystem despite having read countless complaints about WUP. Am I missing anything essential that could lead me to regret my decision?

Yay the best price on Horizon yet. Got an even better upgrade price from Koby. Decided to bite the bullet. Now I need to start saving up for the upgrade to Mercury... that's still a big jump from here.

I'd say so. It started last year with a sale on Select that was based on a coupon code too. I bought that to start with, then grabbed the upgrade to Komplete that became available next.

It flashed system = 20 on screen at the end of the code statement so I'm guessing Korg MS-20.

I didn't own a Pultec yet so I picked this one up along with the Millennium EQ making use of my $50 voucher, and a total outlay of $35 seemed quite reasonable. I now see why people are so enthusiastic about the Pultec and its boost+attenuation magic.

In case Uncle E doesn't reactivate the sale pricing the deluxe bucks with audiodeluxe were really good for imposcar 2, $6 or so.
