  1. System requirements All Softube products require a computer with appropriate DAW host software (none of which are included). Versions from 2.5.18 and newer of the Softube plug-ins have the following minimum requirements: All native versions Mac OS X 10.13 up to 11.6.1 - MacOS 12 Monterey support pending Windows 10 64-bit - Windows 11 support pending Mac: Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 / Xeon - M1 support pending Windows: Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 / Xeon / AMD Quad-Core or newer Screen resolution larger than 1280x800 8 GB RAM or more is recommended, as well as at least 8 GB hard disk space for installation (individual plug-ins take less space, while sample libraries may require additional disk space). Softube account iLok account Internet access for downloading installers and managing licenses iLok generation 2 and up, if you intend to use an iLok key for authorizing your plug-ins (note that a physical iLok USB key is not a requirement) In theory, any 64-bit VST, VST3, AU, or AAX (Pro Tools 11.0.2 or higher) compatible host application should work. However, due to plug-in host differences between DAWs - and our own rigorous testing standards - we only officially test our plug-ins and instruments in the most recent versions of Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton Live, Studio One, Reaper, and Cakewalk. Softube plugins are not tested in non-listed systems, but they most likely work as long as the system requirements are met. We cannot guarantee a solution for issues in unsupported systems. Note: We have checked the basic functionality of our plug-ins, and Softube Central, in macOS Monterey running under Apple Rosetta 2, and initial tests do look promising. Silicon M1 native support is pending. Note: We have run initial tests of Softube Central and our plug-ins within Windows 11 with positive early results. Further testing and announcements will follow. With regards to the different VST formats, we strongly recommend using VST3 as some of our plug-ins have features that are not present in the older VST format. Supported sample rates: 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, and 192 kHz, in both mono and stereo. The most recent maintenance release of your DAW application is recommended. AAX DSP is not currently in active development. TDM/VENUE is no longer supported (old downloads are available on the Legacy Installers page) Find the Softube installer you need both Softube Central and individual plug-ins. AAX DSP version For AAX DSP you need to meet the above requirements for the Native versions. You also need to have an Avid HDX processing card. For plug-ins available for AAX DSP, see Which Softube plug-ins support AAX DSP?
  2. 48 hours only: release The Beast Harness Kerry King's signature sound. For super-high gain and punchy articulation in one rig, there's only The Beast. And right now, this animal of an amp is just $39. Check it out. Get 60% off Kerry King Signature Use this checkout code in the next 48 hours to get Kerry King Signature at an exclusive price of $39 (reg. $99): KERRYKING60 A faithful emulation of the Kerry King Signature amplifier, Marshall 2203KK a.k.a. “The Beast” Two studio setups and one live stage setup recorded respectively by producer Terry Date and FoH engineer Chris Paccou Over 25 finely tuned Kerry King-inspired presets that define the sound of Kerry King Amp Room Ready: works as a native plug-in and as a module in Amp Room, our pro audio guitar platform. Thrash metal is visceral, energetic, aggressive. Getting the right depth and texture of sound, the right bite in the attack, the right snarl on the tail, is essential. You need an amp like a wild animal, like a fighter, like a beast. Kerry King has spent four decades at the vanguard of the scene, blazing trails and busting guts with his edgy in-your-face sound, so naturally his signature amp – the custom Marshall 2203KK, a.k.a. “The Beast” – is the only place to start if you’re after super high gain and punchy articulation in a single rig. Beast Mode "Beast Mode" engages Kerry's own signature EQ-boost-and-gate combo for an extra million percent of awesome. Expert engineers We brought in Kerry's own engineers, Terry Date for studio setups, and Chris Paccou for live, to give the most authentic, mix-ready version of Kerry's sound possible. Component-modeled for perfection Close enough is not good enough for Kerry, for Marshall, or for Softube. So we go component-by-component to build the most detailed software models possible. More than an amp Signature amps are nothing new – this plug-in is a model of the custom hardware Kerry King signature amp from Marshall, closely recreating Kerry's very own unit with all its quirks and special sauce. What's extra-special about this plug-in is the detail beyond the amp itself – down to the cab, the microphones, the engineers, the spaces, we've built a complete mix-ready workflow. The amp’s four KT88 power stage tubes have been expertly modeled, along with every other individual component of this premium unit, to give the most accurate software emulation imaginable. But that’s only the beginning of the signature experience. Top experts in thrash tone We recorded impulse responses from Kerry’s own Marshall Mode Four 4x12” cabinets (featuring Celestion G12K-100 12” speakers) at the famous Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles with multiple professional mic selections and placements designed by iconic producer/engineer Terry Date, famous for his work with Deftones, Pantera, Dream Theater, and Overkill. So down to the cab, the room, the microphones, you’re getting all the top-quality studio sound of a mix-ready thrash setup. On top of that, we visited with Kerry at a stadium show in Stockholm in 2018 to capture his on-stage live setup too, overseen by FoH engineer Chris Paccou. There’s huge variety in this plug-in, and yet at every setting it sounds phenomenal; curated by the world’s leading engineers in these tones. The Kerry King Cabs panel In addition to the amp itself, the plug-in provides a complete setup and workflow for getting mix-ready sounds. Both studio and live setups are represented in the side panel with cabs and microphones recorded in real world situations for the greatest depth and authenticity of sound. You can take the recommendations of Terry Date, engineer for some of the greatest bands in the history of heavy music, or tweak and combine them in the 'custom' section, with a channel for each specific microphone placement offering pan, volume, and phase. Explore every fantastic facet of this amp's sound. The real thing Making great music requires a mix of hard work and inspiration. We've done a ton of hard work on this plug-in so you can get inspired by using the very same gear as a verifiable colossus of the thrash metal scene. So whether you’re engaging “Beast Mode” and smashing a stadium with Kerry’s own signature EQ-boost-and-gate combo, or laying down gutsy layers in the studio, you can rely on the Softube Marshall Kerry King Signature amp to get you sounding bigger, better, and beastlier than any mere human should. Perfect for Amp Room Kerry King Signature comes with modules that are fully integrated into the Amp Room ecosystem and sound exactly the same as the native version of the plug-in. If you already own Amp Room, you definitely need this amp. Amp Room is the pro audio guitar and bass platform, designed with sound quality as top priority. It’s just like having a real amplifier with a miked up speaker cabinet in a high-end studio – with the added convenience of more options to patch in any kind of studio tool you need anywhere in the chain. Here's Ola Englund trying it out:
  3. I set my fan to run at full speed all the time in bios because noises like fans speeding up and down constantly drive me bonkers.
  4. I was playing with Polaris and Space Station at lunch time and they are both really good. Polaris sounds a lot like what I was looking for when trying to find a plugin equivalent of a Strymon Bigsky. Modern and digital sounding. Space Station has a very different sound to it, retro, warm and analog sounding. Really glad I got them.
  5. As tempting as this is, I would hate to end up with $200 worth of licenses that cannot be used without owning Console 1 hardware.
  6. Something I've only just realised with Ableton is that the load shown on the meter in Ableton doesn't necessarily map to load in task manager... it almost seems designed to create an unnecessary sense of anxiety. I found this out by doing some testing with Reaper to see whether it was more efficient than Ableton, and I realised it was using something like half the reported CPU usage, but then when I checked in task manager, there seems to be basically no difference at all between the two at low levels of load. I'm not sure why, but it's something to consider before stressing out too much.
  7. We've known for years there were speed gains to be had with reduced instruction sets and newer architectures. But Intel has been maintaining compatibility with x86 architecture for the sake of their users. They've never been so bold (reckless?) as to expect every developer to revise their every existing application to run on a new generation CPU. Whereas Apple already had this in its wheelhouse, having transitioned from Power PC to Intel, then a similarly radical shift from MacOS to OS X. I'm no fan of planned obsolescence, walled gardens, hardware lock in, or bravery as it applies to ditching headphone jacks, but I'm also no fan of unnecessarily massive boxes, high power consumption, excess heat during summer, fan noise, and fan failures! The iPad has been an astounding technological marvel and I'm keen to see what they can do with Apple silicon in the desktop space as long as they don't get too greedy.
  8. "Whatever path you choose to follow, here’s the good news. Chip technology is getting better from both Apple and Intel, giving us faster machines than we could have ever imagined. The game of cat and mouse between chip developers is ultimately good news for us the buyer." Damn straight. Intel has been taking their foot off the gas for far too long. I'm glad to see Apple giving them a run for their money. I much prefer Windows to OS X but I'm wondering if my next pc is going to be a mac mini at this point.
  9. Appassionata can't you see? What you're doing to me! Appassionata... Baby, let me take you home!
  10. That sucks. If it's any consolation I'm sure it'll be on sale again in a few months time.
  11. Ooh I told myself I'd get this if it came down to 50% off. I trialled it recently and found it offered quite a lot of possibilities for the price, although it is heavy on CPU on my aging machine (i7 4790k). Also it integrates into amp room as a cab option so you can get multiple sets of amps and cabs going in parallel rather than having to set up multiple channels and route audio around. Compared to buying individual cab IRs this gives you a huge range of speaker sizes and cabinet sizes to play with, among other parameters. Definitely worth demoing.
  12. If you're new to Gospel Musicians like me you'll be offered a free gift if you sign up for the newsletter via a popup box on the website. I signed up and was rewarded with a 15% discount code that would last 3 days. Easy decision after that. Downloading now.
  13. I thought that too but then I noticed it says 20gig lossless compressed. So that's a smaller mouthful at least.
  14. Great price! Wow. The demos I've seen on YouTube indicated that was a good one. And it seems to cover more EP territory than any other library I know. Gonna be very tempting.

I'm pretty sure Larry finds out about all of these deals because he's subscribed to every mailing list in the biz. 🙂 At the bottom of the homepage on solidstatelogic.com is a box to enter your email address labelled "STAY CONNECTED Keep updated"

    IWICB

I've just listened to this song, took a short break, then listened a few more times in a row. It's really great! Love the lyrics not to mention the irony of posting it at this time of year 🙂 I really enjoyed the use of harmony also. All the other instruments fitted the song perfectly. Well done!
  18. Bravo to UVI for having a customer-friendly upgrade policy that rewards rather than punishes existing customer loyalty!!!

    Reason 11.2

A few months ago, I had an issue where I could add it to a new track in Ableton Live, but if I closed Live and then tried opening the track it froze. A workaround was to load Live, add Reason to a track, then load the song after Reason was already initialised. If your freezing is when loading an existing track with Reason already in use, maybe try that workaround and see if it helps?
  20. The wording is admittedly a bit confusing on this one. "To celebrate this amazing giveaway, we are gifting EVERYONE who has a Two notes account the Two notes Tone Vault – a choice selection of DynIRs every guitar and bass player should have in their sonic arsenal! Don’t have a Two notes account? No problem, create a free account*** and redeem this pack to get immediate access to the full version of the Torpedo Wall of Sound v4 plug-in." Normally Torpedo Wall of Sound is only available to people who have purchased DynIR packs through Two Notes, so if you don't already have it, it's a great opportunity to get it for free. There are no songs to be composed or anything. In the past couple of month's they appear to have been doing weekly hardware giveaways to people who participated by making social media posts with their hashtags, but I only stumbled upon the thing last night at 1am and it's all over in a matter of days (the 7th of Jan) so get in while the getting's good 🙂
  21. Two Notes is offering a free Wall of Sound DynIR cab pack with 12 cabinets until January 7th https://www.two-notes.com/en/tonevault/
  22. Current version of cubase still requires a Steinberg USB key I believe. Factor that cost in too. If you're not desperate it may be worth waiting for the next version to come out... Edit: looks like you just bought it. Nevermind, I'm sure you're gonna love it 🙂
  23. Any idea what's new? Had a look at the website but all it seemed to offer was the 1.8gig installer
