  1. I really enjoyed this one Mark! I love the way the guitars interplay and the mix sounds just perfect to my ear. Really nice, heartfelt vocals and great performances all around. I've listened to this with my vsx headphones and with my crappy bluetooth  earbuds and it sounds great with both.

  2. Love the progression and the slow  but groovy groove, nice! And it's always nice when someone bends over backwards to meet your needs!

This is a mesmerizing piece, seems much shorter than 7:17 :) The melodies are wonderful and the whole effect is very uplifting. It's very inspiring, thank you!

  3. I was setting up to do a new bass take when I noticed that the bass was running through an amp sim. Turned it off and there it was. Give it a listen and see if that doesn't help some, thanks all!

  4. Thanks for listening and commenting, John! The bass is played by me on a lovely Fender American  P Bass that I record direct in to the interface, an Audient ID22.
On some songs it sounds killer and on others not so much. I think it has more to do with my playing technique than any effects I throw at it. It’s time to throw the bass track out and try again I think.

I own both Modo and ample but I don’t  play keys and I’m just not any good at getting midi basslines to sound natural. Maybe I’m missing some secret that make great sounding midi bass parts possible.

    Love the trippy feel😉

I agree with Nigel that the bass could use some work.
Seems like there's a little crack at the start (or is it my internet connection?)

Nice instrumental part,  nice little fills throughout the song!

Thank you for listening! I'm not quite finished with it so I'll spend some looking for it. I appeciate your comments!

    Hi Kevin

Really good track and excellent guitar - the only thing for me is the bass - do you have a chorus effect on this perhaps? It just seems to not be constant and is drifting a bit

    otherwise all good

    Nigel

I very well might have, Nigel. I always throw so much crap at the bass guitar trying to get a good sound that I tend to forget. Thank you for yor ears!

  7. This tune has been percolating for a very long time, and I've finally decided to finish this thing. It's not really finished yet but it's certainly in shape enough to get some feedback. I'd love to hear some critical feedback on the mix, instruments and arrangements. In short, here's your chance to be a (very poorly paid) producer! :)

Thanks in advance for any comments!

Updated: New mix addressing sucky bass.

  8. The way Reaper handles this function is pretty great since it's so easy. Audiosnap works too but it's been hit or miss for me. Google for posts in the old cakewalk forum, there's several threads there that describe in detail how to do it with Audiosnap.

As for the decision to re-record, it depends a lot on how much change is needed and what your quality requirements are. (Yes, imho, sometimes perfect is not needed.)  A small bpm bump is perfectly acceptable under a lot of circumstances. After all, the Beatles monkeyed with speeds all the time, and since they did it by speeding up or slowing down tape, they also changed the pitch of the recordings. Sometimes they recorded solos at half-time and sped up the tape to make the solos pop. "Strawberry Fields Forever" is a wonderful example of them piecing together multiple takes with different speeds and keys to make the final track. Sounds great to me.
