Most interestingly it mentions Guitar Rig 6. Curious to see if they can make the leap to the level of the likes of NeuralDSP here.

yup. i recall seeing a beta tester invite for GR6 a while ago. i am very interested in what NI manage to do with GR6 if it does indeed get released.

Kontakt 6.4.0 is now showing the following when you start:

NI really messed this one up.  If you haven't updated to 6.4.0, don't.  If you have, keep your eyes out for an update.

this is what i just saw on my Mac. I was so confused.

Better not get it then. If we start buying plugins that cost 75 EUR on a sale, after we demo them and 'we don't know what to say',  we're doomed. Really, that'll be the end. Scientology level stuff, with hydrogen bombs dropped into volcanoes.

I didn't buy it yet. I didn't buy any of the NeuralDSP sims.

I demoed it to look again at system resource usage. But mostly I demoed it to see if i could get what "to me" sounds like a usable tone. It's weird. I can't quite explain it. Plini sounds modern but the tones don't quite sound right to me. I think it's just a personal subjective thing.

  5. So I demoed Plini again. I don't know what to say. Not entirely sure I like the sound even though it does sound more modern. I think its a personal aesthetic. It's probably a good idea to demo the trial before buy.

Hey guys, so I managed to install Reason Lite 11.2 alongside 11.3, which gives you way more devices in the daw version while maintaining access to the plugin. I installed 11.3, then I deleted the .exe file from the Program Files folder (and the desktop shortcut), and then I installed 11.2

    You can download 11.2 here:

    Windows

    Mac

you bad bad man. love it!!

But ... but ... I got my Gear Credits for buying expensive hardware like their iLoud and then they have a Group Buy, explicitly pushing their Custom Shop as a place to get in. But when you get in, there’s nothing fancy to get. No Hammond, no MODO, no SampleTank.

Hey IK, don’t mention the Custom Shop if you main Group Buy stuff ain’t available.

ah well. i guess its sort of like NI and their vouchers. you can't use them on items that are on sale. only full priced items.

Plini or Nolly? I think you said you'd choose Nolly if you could only have one. I can't test any of them right now as my studio is torn down at the moment. I'm wondering what Plini has over Nolly..

I get the impression that Plini is much more popular than Nolly among guitar people that are into NeuralDSP level sims. I dont have it so can't comment. I tried the Cory Wong. I didn't think it was worth the price point.

They seem to be targeting the upper end of the market for now. Less presence, no resellers, fewer discounts. It's hard to blame them, as their product line (including the Quad Cortex) is pretty boutique (top-notch interface and sound, distinct flavor). They might come across as expensive to your pocket (and mine!), but I feel they're still good value, compared to the competition. It's nice to be able to grab one, when the time is right. Kind of like snatching a dream Eventide plugin on a good sale. 🙂

I think their amp sims sound amazing. I am a guitar player and i can tell the difference. but to be honest, i usually notice that most pop, EDM and HH music these days has the guitar way down low in the mix and synths and drum machines way up. so i am not sure how much you will be able to notice.  if you are into making guitar albums, i think Neural is the way to go for sure.

  10. Hi, so I demoed the 3 new Arturia FX last night. I tested them with electric guitar and compared the sounds i got with the new NI FX Choral and Phaser that I downloaded not that long any but hadn't had a chance to try them out. I also compared with whats in Amplitube and chorus in Fulltone collection and the JC-120. Not sure if this is a valid or correct way to demoing , but I sort of tested it out based on how i would mostly use these if i got them.  To my ears, the Arturia effects have a very old school vintage retro sound. Sort of reminds me of  sounds on old 70s records. It's defiantly unique and different than what you get in the chorus effects in the other products. NI's effects  in comparison are much more modern and in your face sounding. Am still tinkering around with Arturai effects to see if I will get them or not.

They'll probably have another BF sale or a group buy sale, if you can't get it now. Half-price it's good value for what it does, but I hear you, I did stare for a long couple of minutes at the checkout screen before I hit the payment button, trying to resist it. 😶

i agree. they are very high priced. I didnt know Neural do group buys. I guess I will hold out and see what happens.

What time tomorrow, Aug 30, does this group buy end? Specifically US eastern time?

it says it ends it 3 days. so i guess end of day Monday EU time. IKM are Italian based, no?

BTW.. I a pretty sure its going to hit the 1 for 3 tier. IKM will extend it for sure.

If they are smart, they will include some new goodies to trigger more sales. (hint hint.. @Peter - IK Multimedia Some of us don't care much for Syntronick and Sampletank as we are over flowing with synths up the kazoo).

Arturia upgrade pricing always leaves something to be desired. As far as I know, they never offered the 'good' price ($99) to upgrade from (synth) Collection 6 to Collection 7, and even that'd be debatable given what's in 7. Similarly, I bought "3 filters..." and "3 delays..." when they were released, but they never offered an acceptable deal to go from those to FX Collection. (Admittedly, the only part of FXC I'd have wanted was the reverbs. Compressors,  I'm drowning in, and preamps... too cork-sniffery for my needs. So that lowers the relative value of same quite a bit from my perspective.)

Still, I'd have thrown money at them if they'd made me a deal.

yeah, this is why i seem to think this seems like a really good deal for people that don't own any of the FX Collection.

BTW.. what does cork sniferry mean? Snobby? Why do you think preamp VSTs are snobby? You think its something that would never get used? I saw some vids on their YT site. It looks appealing.

Noob question. Can anyone comment, what would you normally use the different preamps, commpressions  and filters on? A individual bus or master bus?

  14. the only thing this Reason 11 Lite is good for is, "if" Propeller head offer a killer upgrade deal one day. I think its daft to offer Reason 11 with the VST capability so potential customers can get an idea of how the rack works in other DAWs, but then strip out most of the synths and effects that were part of the earlier lite version.  boggles the mind.

  15. i think this arturia deal just dropped a major road block on my group buy participation. Same price except that with group by I get to pick one thing I really want and 2 or 3 things I may not really want. The Arturia deal gets me 18 things of which 12 I really want.
