  1. Throw TH3 in the FX Rack for the track and check out some of the presets

    Scan path confusion

IIRC, scan paths in SONAR 8.5 were maintained in the plug-in manager. Keep in mind VST3 compatibility started with X3. Older DAWs will not be able to load VST3 plug-ins.
  3. Yeah, it's a pricey piece of hardware. I'll have to stick with the Tube Modulator plug-in for now.
  4. The pages are not indexed. It would be nice of they were. While waiting for the situation to change here is a post suggesting how to deal with the current situation More often that not, I open the CbB help index and search it using the browser instead of using the site search tool. Could also search the pdf, if one does not want to deal with the web index problem
  5. C:\ProgramData\Output\Portal\Documentation\Portal_Owners_Manual.pdf
  6. From their e-mail announcement All MeldaProduction plugins have been updated to 14.00. It comes with several improvements, features and fixes. It is recommended to install this update. The update is free as always and you can install it simply by downloading and using the newest installer from our download page. Additionally MMetronome, a simple but powerful metronome for all DAWs, and MCCGenerator, which produces up to 8 MIDI CC values from its own parameters and which you can use to exploit our groundbreaking modulators to control other plugins for example, have been released for FREE as a gift for your continued support through all these years. 7. The maps are text files stored in C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\data\midimaps Should be pretty easy to add custom maps for any synth.
  8. A good link for the device https://www.roland.com/global/products/v-studio_100/
  9. Here is a description of the V-Studio 100 with detail about SONAR VS. The V-Studio 700 shipped with a full version of SONAR 8 Producer (later SONAR 8.5) SONAR VS used the same SONAR 8 engine but was not as capable as SONAR 8 Producer. Cakewalk never made a downloadable version of any SONAR 8 DAW. The first downloadable version of SONAR started with SONAR 8.5 but it was an upgrade that required SONAR 8 already be installed. IOW, the download was not the full product. The first full version of SONAR available as a download was SONAR X1. To use SONAR VS you will need to buy or borrow an external CD drive to install from disk.
  10. Try this - Download and install sforzando (it is an sfz player - similar to the Studio Instruments in CbB but not limited to the instruments bundled with CbB). Search Google for "guitar sfz" Grab a few of the sfz files and try them out (still may need an ampsim or extra effects) Probably the best solution for $0. BTW, I see the makers of sforzando have a collection of instruments here
  11. The TH3 is an easy recommendation because all the hardware that typically does into making an electric guitar sound is there except for the guitar itself. That said there are hundreds of individual effects - amps, stomp boxes, rack effects in plug-in form available for free. But, just like the real world, it all needs to start with a decent instrument. You may find a free soundfont or sfz file to use in sforzando or TX16Wx.
  12. Synths that can process audio data will mention it somewhere in their write up. That said, if you are trying for a realistic guitar sound, it's not going to happen on the cheap with soft synths. If you want to modify the character of TTS-1 put an ampsim in the FX Rack. CbB comes with TH3. Since you have a guitar, the best way to get a guitar sound in the DAW is record the guitar. If you cannot record using the amp then record direct and run it through the ampsim.
  13. Updated Launchpad to v1.9 -Now it silently skips unsupported Cakewalk products instead of shutting down. See the OP for the link. For existing users do not delete the current Launchpad folder. To update, overwrite the current folder with the contents of the new zip.
  14. While some synth plug-ins pull double duty as effects plug-ins the TAL Noisemaker is not one of them. One could use both TTS-1 and TAL Noisemaker, each on their own track, to generate sounds and blend the two but there is no other way for the TAL Noisemaker to modify audio coming out of TTS-1.
  15. All of this is handled by the DAW. Launchpad just runs the DAW with or without file on the command line. The program serves two purposes: switching between versions of CbB managing lists of CbB projects, project templates and MIDI files (an alternative to the start screen).
  16. Yes, all versions of CbB need the dll. I use a generic dll for versions older than 2019-09.
  17. It is a 64bit application. I don't have an XP machine set up to test. After giving this a little more thought today, I think the best approach is to allow the program to run skipping old copies of SONAR other than Producer and Platinum. Just like the version you are testing. I will make the adjustments to the program and documentation and release a new version tomorrow. Thanks again for testing.
  18. SONAR - Yes, it may be from anywhere. CbB - No, ALL versions except the most recently installed version should be run from Launchpad. This is due to enabling "Restore CW130Auto.dll on exit" in the Launchpad File menu and the way the dll must be handled to insure proper operation of CbB. Make sure to run Quick Copy from Launchpad anytime prior to installing a newer release in order to have the older version available after running the installer.
  19. Yes, directory junctions There are quite a few threads with examples in the old forum Use Google to search for site:forum.cakewalk.com scook mklink
  20. Previous versions pf CbB are not available. Start with the current version. New versions are released about every 2 months.
  21. The Q&A section has an answered check mark next to posts. This part of the forum does not. Consider editing the OP and adding [Answered] to the subject.
  22. Yes, that should work. BTW, if you copy that file into the "Sub" folder where Lauchpad is installed and rename it CW130Auto-25.09.0.70.dll CbB 2019-09 should work in Launchpad too and you will not have to remember to manually deal with the dll ever again.
