  1. After uninstalling CbB make sure to delete "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core" before reinstalling. C:\ProgramData is a hidden folder. If after reinstalling CbB fails to activate contact support@cakewalk.com Make sure to include details about the PC and OS.
  2. Maybe MIDI Driver Mode needs to be changed in preferences
  3. Unless you are going to create or modify a theme, the theme editor is not needed. As mentioned above, copy the theme (user themes are files with a .sth extension) into Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Themes. By default this path is in the root of C:. Once copied they should appear in the theme drop down in preferences.

Really should use a more descriptive subject when creating threads. Check your workspace setting.
  6. To insure the correct version of shared files are installed Uninstall CbB using BandLab Assistant Install Platinum (works best with Cakewalk Command Center) Reinstall CbB The uninstall option for CbB is here
  7. There was no mention of the headphone/mic combo which is an audio interface as far as CbB is concerned. It may be the only audio input device unless the PC has a line or mic input. The Casio USB is MIDI only. If you wish to use the Casio sounds, you will need an audio interface to connect the Casio line outs to the PC. If you get an audio interface forget about the headphone/mic combo (probably a good long term plan anyway). Or just use the Casio for MIDI and use the sound sources (aka softsynths) bundled with CbB along with the hundreds of free and commercial plug-ins available on the internet.
  8. It makes sense the Casio is a class compliant device. There is no need for a special driver for USB connected MIDI controllers. Audio interfaces are another matter, they should have a manufacturer supplied ASIO driver. Cakewalk has no idea what make or model the MIDI keyboard is. It only knows there is a MIDI device connected to the PC using a class compliant driver. If you do not have a dedicated audio interface, you will need to setup CbB to use the PC integrated audio chip. The instructions to do so are here If you are running Win10 in step 3 of the instructions for better preformance try the WASAPI modes instead of MME Here is a similar thread about getting started
  9. According to the using the Smart Tool on PRV notes section in http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Tools.04.html SHIFT+Right-Click in note hot spot "C" mutes selected notes
  10. Yes Cakewalk can read old SONAR projects. As noted above, if the projects used plug-ins bundled with SONAR 8 you will want to install it before installing Cakewalk. If you used 32bit SONAR 8 you may want to install both 32bt and 64bit SONAR to ease the transition. Cakewalk By BandLab is a 64bit program so if the projects were made using 32bit DX plug-ins, unless the plug-ins were ported to 64bit the plug-ins will not load. If the projects were made with 64bit SONAR there is no need to mess with 32bit SONAR but you will still want to install 64bit SONAR before CbB.
  11. If you are still using the MIDI track as shown in the above image and no corresponding audio track, you managed to route the MIDI output to the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. This is enabled by default. In the long run you will probably want to disable this MIDI output option in preferences and learn how to use soft synth plug-ins.
  12. That is a MIDI track. A MIDI track is used to hold MIDI data but must be routed to a sound source (either a soft synth or hardware sound module) to interpret the MIDI data. The video shows setting up TTS-1 (a softsynth) using an instrument track starting around 3:45. An instrument track is a combination of a MIDI track, an audio track and the soft synth used to create the sound. The other problem may be the program does not have audio properly configured. If you are using the integrated PC sound chip here are the instructions https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/Audio-Hardware-Setup-Guide?productId=CSPT100&audioDeviceId=135 If you are running Windows 10 instead of using MME driver mode (step 3 in the instructions) try one of the WASAPI settings. If you have a dedicated audio interface there are instructions available for those too.
  13. That video is geared toward hardware sound sources. A better video from the same source for MIDI controllers like the Q49 and softsynths is
  14. The DAW may have hung waiting for a response from the audio interface driver.
  15. There is definitely a problem - Gloss EQ should not show up in the PC module list. This is the Quad Curve EQ and not part of the plug-ins available for the PC. Makes me wonder if one of the older X-series was installed after CbB. Maybe a VST reset will clean up the list. If not, CbB may need to be uninstalled and re-installed.
  16. CbB includes a time-limited trial version of Melodyne 4. X3 Studio and Producer included a full license for Melodyne 2 Essential. When Melodyne 4 was announced, the upgrade from Melodyne 2 Essential to Melodyne 4 Essential was free. SONAR Professional and Platinum originally included Melodyne 2 Essential but moved to Melodyne 4 Essential when it was released. Users who purchased X3 Studio/Producer did not get an additional license when upgrading to Professional/Platinum. Users were granted one license per full retail purchase of SONAR Studio/Producer/Professional/Platinum. Melodyne 3 was a 32bit only multi-track version (a.k.a Melodyne Studio) which was migrated to the Melodyne 4 along with the single-track Melodyne 2 products. There was no Melodyne 3 Essential/Assistant/Editor.
  17. Chances are the sends that play when another track is soloed are pre-fader. Notice the mute and solo buttons in the signal flow diagram are after pre-fader sends. This behavior may be changed by setting LinkPFSendMute to True in Preferences.
  18. similar thread - when a feature is missing but still in the documentation check your workspace setting While this is likely an issue with the workspace setting to stay current make sure to review the New Features section of the documentation for changes.
