Use this page in preferences for all VST scans and settings. Only use the plug-in manager for exclude list and layout management.

FYI CbB and SONAR use the SAME scanner and plug-in manager on the same PC. Their VST inventories are in different places in the registry.

Make sure to do everything from preferences NOT the plug-in manager (except for exclude list and layout management).

Worst case you could copy the registry entries for the missing plug-ins from Platinum into CbB.

I don't use jBridge. I ran a reset a couple of days ago and the few 32bit plugins that I have scanned OK. Running a VST reset from preferences can't hurt. Make sure to create a scan log. There may be a clue about what is going on in the log. The only recent change I know that happened to the scanner is it no longer scans dll in the VST3 folders.

May have to experiment with different driver modes in preferences. In Win10 the WASAPI modes are the first choice for class compliant devices.

That's right. When documented features seem to be unavailable check the Workspace setting.

Instrument tracks are NOT intended strictly for live play and cannot record straight to audio. In fact to record straight to audio requires an audio+MIDI track pair. See this for synth audio recording. Instrument tracks were introduced to simplify the track presentation in SONAR. Functionally, an instrument track is no different than an audio+MIDI track pair. An instrument track displays the MIDI track input section and the audio track output section. Recording into an instrument track shows the MIDI data. Freezing an instrument track shows the audio clips.

Could be the algorithm Melodyne is using. Melodyne Essential and Assistant only work with monophonic audio. Editor and Studio can work with polyphonic audio. May need to open the clip as a Region FX and determine the best algorithm.

Aside from the hotkey starting with ALT+U instead of ALT+H there is not much difference in the menu assignment.

Here is a link to the old SONAR hardware setup guide. The instructions for SONAR Platinum work for CbB. Select the device you have or the closest model if yours is not listed. For devices where the guide recommends MME, if you are running Win10 try the WASAPI modes first.

Instrument tracks are a hybrid presentation of an audio and a MIDI track. So, using the multiple instrument track option when 4 instrument tracks are created splitting those tracks will result in 4 audio and 4 MIDI tracks. the audio tracks will receive audio from the synth stereo outputs 1 through 4 and the MIDI tracks will send data to channels 1 through 4.

Often toggling the transport will also get past the error. I believe it is an unspecified write error coming from Windows. The subject occasionally came up on the old forum. For more reading on the subject Google site:forum.cakewalk.com General Error

Assuming you have the tracks already routed to the master bus, solo the two mono tracks track to bounce with the master bus as the source

Bounce to Track(s) with Channel Format set to "Split Mono" creates 2 mono tracks from a stereo track. There are a variety of other options in the dialog for other scenarios.

Depends on the plug-in. DX, VST2 and VST3 can all implement a sidechain feature but is it up to the manufacturer. So to with plug-in bypass. The advantage VST3 has over other formats is these features are part of the spec so rely less on the skill of the developers. Some manufacturers notably Waves only support sidechain in VST3 for CbB. Steinberg has deprecated VST2 so it really has no future.

Can't help with Focusrite specifically but I can help you understand a few things about Windows audio in general. The audio interface shows up without the ASIO drivers because Windows has generic audio drivers. These drivers are used when selecting a driver mode other than ASIO in CbB and by most other Windows programs like VLC. The addition of ASIO driver by itself would not affect VLC. When using the same audio interface for CbB and Windows make sure CbB and Windows are set to the same sample rate. When testing CbB I would use something very simple like a single audio clip. One track to the master bus and out to the interface. Then concentrate on the audio preferences.

AFAIK, the BT Cakewalk plug-ins cannot be updated.

"Failed to open help" is caused by the registry setting to use local help still being read from the registry and CbB not having a SONAR.chm in the program folder. This never worked with the pdf. The old value causing the error was introduced when settings were copied from a prior SONAR installation. The local help feature is no longer supported. The error may be remedied by setting UseOnlyOfflineHelp to 0 in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Core. This restores CbB to using the web-based help. One could copy an old SONAR.chm into the program folder but the local help system is not maintained so while suppressing the error the help may not be useful. Any pdf may be added to the Utility menu. Using the ToolsEditor that I wrote (see this thread for more info) set the Type to Generic and add the fully qualified name of the pdf in Exe Path.

Sure VST2 plug-ins may still be used in CbB. The just need to be installed anywhere except in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 By default Cakewalk uses C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins but any path will do as long as it is part of the scan path in Preferences.

Seems OK. Some users have managed to get Toontrack plug-ins in their VST3 folder. Toontrack are VST2 only, they do not make VST3 plug-ins. Pretty sure this is a bug in the Toontrack installer. Installing VST2 plug-ins in the VST3 is a problem. The VST scanner no longer picks up VST2 plug-ins installed in the VST3 folder. VST2 plug-ins need to be moved out of the VST3 folder.

BandLab Assistant will install an update if it determines the PC has the last version of CbB installed or the full version of CbB if an older version of CbB is installed Regardless, there is no need to uninstall CbB prior to updating.

BA actually performs the update and reactivation. Personally, I always make sure CbB is shutdown and use BA to update. You should not need to perform a clean reinstall. Running the uninstall from BA then reinstalling should be enough.
