Usually, this selection is helped along by the audio hardware being used. Choose what works for you and your hardware. For hardware with a working ASIO driver this usually means using ASIO mode. As mentioned above, if using the sound chip on the motherboard running Win10 and newer try the WASAPI modes (the RealTek ASIO driver is not suitable for DAW use). WASAPI Exclusive may be set to a lower latency but cannot share the driver with other programs while the DAW is running. WASAPI Shared has a fixed latency but may be shared with other programs while the DAW is running.

The Novation Launchkey is not an audio device so it will never show up in the audio device preferences. The audio preferences section is empty because no suitable audio driver was found for the driver mode currently selected.

Guitar Rig 4 LE was never bundled with SONAR Platinum. The easiest way to secure a GR4LE installer is from your NI user account. Otherwise, you will need to figure out which Cakewalk product included GR4LE and use that installer.

Bounce to Track(s) on the Track View Tracks Menu is a very common method. To bounce down multiple tracks into one audio track solo the tracks to bounce (or mute the tracks NOT to bounce whichever is easier) listen to the audio and verify the solo/mute is correct open the Bounce to Track(s) dialog select "Entire Mix" as the source category click OK archive the bounced tracks (if synth plug-ins are involved may want to disconnect them too)

Can't help with Waves except to mention only the VST3 format is supported, and based on other posts here they seem to provide excellent support for their products.

Often when unexpected MIDI data is playing in a track the data is coming from another plug-in. This is caused by one or more plug-ins having Enable MIDI Output selecting in their plug-in properties and having the input on the track playing the unexpected data set to All Inputs - MIDI Omni. By default, any soft synth capable of sending MIDI data will have Enable MIDI Output selected.

Setting the input of a track in the DAW to None causes the track to ignore all input. An instrument track is a presentation of an audio+MIDI track pair. Both tracks actually exist in the project but are displayed as a single track with MIDI input and audio output controls. Keep in mind, if an instrument/MIDI track inputs is set to None and the track input echo get enabled, the track input changes to either: All Inputs - Omni - this causes the track to listen to all incoming MIDI data from internal and external sources. All External Inputs - Omni - this causes the track to listen to all external sources. In this case, internal MIDI sources are plug-ins capable of sending MIDI data. External sources are any hardware or software outside of the DAW sending MIDI data to it. By default, Always Echo Current MIDI Track is enabled. This will change instrument/MIDI inputs automatically if the track gets focus. I like to turn this off and manually control input echo.

Can't say for sure but the Sonitus presets may have been written into the registry by one or more of the Cakewalk installers. This is normal.

Unless a user actually saves presets using the Cakewalk Preset Manager a plug-in will not have anything to export.

Such analysis has been demonstrated faulty so many times over the years it is hard to believe some still cling to it. HO aside, all this means is CbB and Reaper are different.

When filling out a Cherry Audio synth collection make sure to check out the Synth Stack 3 price at the CA store. Cherry Audio discounts Synth Stack 3 based on products already registered with them. It may be the cheapest way to collect their synths.

For the record, DX and VST3 formats are supported by the Cakewalk Preset Manager. May need to work with support for figure out why the Sonitus presets are not getting picked up (permissions?). Plugin Alliance is a different matter. Brainworx started out as a developer of UAD plug-ins. Like other UAD plug-in developers, they relied on the UAD environment to supply the plug-in manager. Unlike other UAD plug-in developers, Brainworx, along with quite a few of the other PA lines, elected to release their plug-ins as native plug-ins without an integrated plug-in manager. Practically all native VST2/3 plug-ins have an integrated plug-in manager. That said, some of the VST3 plug-ins sold by PA do automatically work with the Cakewalk Plug-in Manager, such as plug-ins made by Bettermaker, Dear VR and Lindell.

If there is no MIDI output device enabled in CbB Preferences > MIDI > Devices, when opening MIDI files, the DAW will automatically add and setup TTS-1 to play the file. There is no way to substitute a different synth for this behavior. One can replace any plug-in(s) for TTS-1 after the project is open. Alternately consider creating playlists of the rendered MIDI files and play along with them.

The Cakewalk Plug-in Manager documentation covers how to manage its preset files. These files use the spp extension. The documentation is installed with the software. It is in chm format. The help button in the bottom right on the Cakewalk Plug-in Manager UI opens this documentation.

So, excluding a subset of the plug-ins in the project is not enough. Does the project load when bypassing them all? Look for a minidump to send to support. If there is no minidump and the problem is plug-in related, try temporarily setting ExceptionHandlingSeverity to 7 in Preferences > File > Initialization File.

48hr should be plenty of time to realize this modular synth is not competitive with Cherry Audio, VCV Rack or even Reaktor. The Buchla 259e Twisted Waveform Generator is an interesting module. Would be nice to see in other synths.

The two L-Phase plug-ins were sold separately and bundled with SONAR Professional/Platinum 2016-04+. The plug-ins have not been available since Gibson shut down Cakewalk.

While this may not solve the immediate problem (although it may be part of the solution), this feature can be a real challenge with some routing choices.
