  1. Not often I’ve heard of someone else using Waves Soundgrid with Cakewalk. I’ve been using it for about 8 years or so. Make sure you’ve got the latest version of Waves Central installed and do a repair installation of your Soundgrid Drivers. I’ve just gone a full WUP and upgraded to V14 for plugins and the drivers are 1 generation behind at V13. Make sure that Cakewalk’s not set to look for WASAPI drivers. With ASIO selected close Cakewalk do a PC reboot and open it again. Hope that helps. I run a Soundgrid server IOS and a IOX connected via my network so have no experience using non-Soundgrid hardware. Hope you get it sorted. Whenever I’ve had issues with drivers I’ve always gone back to basics and followed the manual which I’ve linked below.
  2. Welcome to the forum. If you are going to buy then assemble your own components, I recommend getting in touch with Jim Roseberry (Purrfect Audio) who’s a forum member and long time Cakewalk user. His company builds computers specialising in DAWs. I’ve built several DAWs over the decades, starting with a 30 min consultation resulting in a component list, linked to suppliers. Jim is constantly testing the latest components and as a musician he’s well placed to build a DAW or recommend components for you. Just use the forum’s Direct Messaging service to search for and message him. Jim’s a great resource and many Sonar/Cakewalk users have used his services. His consulting is modestly priced and full built bespoke DAWs are very competitively priced also. Hope that’s of help.
  3. Thanks a lot. Much appreciated. Interestingly when I was searching for a little more info I found posts on the old Cakewalk forum going back to 2004 with requests for a utility to convert from .ptn to .mid files. I’ve linked the threads below for your interest. Link01 Link02 Link03 Link04
  4. Waves don't use iLok and haven't for quite a few years. They load nearly instantly for me even in Native mode ie when not using my Waves Soundgrid Server. Simply to say that it’s not a universal problem - rather more likely that it is something to do with your use case.
  5. Welcome to the forums and Cakewalk by Bandlab, commonly called CbB It is possible that the song has data of some sort in the file after the last note that leaves the cursor moving after what you think is the end. Examine the file by using different views which will show you if other unseen data is causing the problem. It could be a volume envelope or some extraneous MIDI data. Once you find it you can delete it, so your song ends appropriately and starts the next one in your playlist.
  6. It was good of you to come back and update your post with the resolution. As you say it may help another person with that same problem. Another step you could take is to edit your Thread title by appending {SOLVED}. That lets folks know when browsing the forum that the thread has a solution.
  7. Hey everyone. I've just done a partial WUP at Waves, so here's a genuine discount link for your next Waves software purchase. I don't know if it's in addition to any advertised discount so just give it a try. https://www.waves.com/r/zeix9f Hope it can help someone.
  8. My upgrade to Win 11 pro (on my laptop) went without a hitch. No need for reactivating/re-registering any plugins or programs.
  9. I'm running the latest CbB version 2022.06 Build 034. On my Laptop (WIN 11 Pro) and my Studio PC (Still WIN 10 Pro). However, Windows Program & Features shows my Cakewalk Programs as (see pic) I'm curious why this is the case. Could it be that Windows is showing the last full build (somewhere in the vicinity of 550MB) and the numerous updates since (about 50MB) not registering as full installations with Windows. Following along with the file sizes of each update file, this would seem to make the most sense still as each release has a incrementing version number its odd that Windows doesn't update the information.
  10. Cakewalk Reference Guide page 952 see attached pic will help you setup the defaults or make changes to how many outputs are created when you insert a soft synth. There is much useful information in the reference guide. Please make use of it.
  11. Didn’t know this. Thanks for the updated info. Just looked up Caldecott Music Group. Interesting.
  12. Cakewalk by Bandlab (CbB) is at the very least the equal of any DAW out there. I have numerous paid for DAWs like Cubase Pro 12, Studio One Producer 5; and others where I no longer keep paying for updates. Cakewalk easily competes with them all in terms of features and reliability and continuing development to expand the feature set while ensuring stability and eking out every bit of performance that the latest Windows and modern hardware can provide. All the while it is even still usable (though not supported officially) on win 7. CbBs free status is thanks to the generosity and alternate business model of a Singaporean business man who has vast interests in musical instruments, social media software that revolves around music. There are numerous other holdings that complement his involvement with Cakewalk. Of course I’m not privy to anything special or secret as the information I’ve relayed here was made known to the Cakewalk community at the time that Bandlab purchased all the Intellectual Property from Gibson. Cakewalk has never been more stable and supported than right now - at least in my estimation as someone who has used Cakewalk for more than 3 decades. Enjoy it.
  13. Cakewalks Reference Guide has a whole section of tutorials that take you step by step through the basics.
  14. If it is actually the 2022/06 update to which you’re referring go to that thread (pinned at the top) and there should be a link to the rollback installer to get you back to previous version.
  15. Very generous of you to share your hard work. Thanks.
  16. I remember when Mix Recall was first added to Sonar. Then and now I still think it is one of the best additions to the palette of tools on offer within Cakewalk.
  17. Try setting 48k 24bit not 32 bit. 32 bit relates to internal plugin processing not audio processing.
  18. Not sure if I understand your use case properly but are you aware that you can have multiple projects/files open simultaneously in Cakewalk.
  19. Spend some time with the Cakewalk Reference Guide. It is a great teaching tool to fill the gaps that don’t come intuitively from just using the program. It’s downloadable from this site. https://bandlab.github.io/cakewalk/docs/Cakewalk Reference Guide.pdf
  20. I've just done a WUP and have this link that anyone can use for a discount as stated above. https://www.waves.com/r/zeix9f
  21. No issues here. Why not contact Waves support. They’re very responsive and helpful.
  22. If a lot of the future dev’ to make this happen is down to Plug-in developers I can see lots of problems. Even now with VSTs there are many devs that don’t follow the standards set down in the specs causing all sorts of problems. Will they now be confronted by another set of specs that will ultimately be poorly implemented causing yet more problems. Im grateful to be running my Waves plugins in a Soundgrid server so don’t have to worry too much about latency and plug-in count. Using the power of GPUs for processing would be great but I need to see this happening not just read about.
  23. Look for forum member Aszlow who has written a plug-in/driver that is far superior to what is available through ACT etc. He is a long time Cakewalk user and has developed this over a period of several years. It’s highly recommended.
  24. I’ve read a few posts blaming Win 11 for audio issues claiming it is unsuited for audio. I been using Win 11 on my laptop for about 6 weeks or so and have not encountered any issues dealing with CbB or any other DAW. My Win 10 compatible drivers all happily work with Win 11 and apart from the layout changes to Windows, I’ve not experienced any differences between Win 10 or Win 11 as respects audio This coming week I’ll likely migrate my Studio PC to Win11 as well.
