  1. Another thought, if the software is properly activated, and if you are sure the plugin is being scanned properly, maybe try it in another DAW - reaper is free to try and small enough it will give you a pretty good idea if the plugin problem is only with Cakewalk/Sonar. I still believe it's a plugin issue not your DAW.

  2. Further to Max's point about it sounding like an iLok issue here is Antares' instructions for activation.

I don't think it's sufficient for Antares' support to say the DAW MIGHT not be supported and "you should have tried the demo". (While true, they need to help you ensure your software is properly activated).

  3. It seems to me the problem isn't the free DAW - it's the expensive plugin (with no  refund as a bonus). Yay Antares!

How familiar are you with 3rd party plugins in general? Have you searched for the plugin to be sure the install location is included in your scanned folders? Done a rescan of your plugs? Does the VST scan fail on scanning? Does the plugin show up in your excluded Plugins?

  4. I was using Alchemy a week or so ago in Studio One 4. Worked fine. Will try it again and also in CbB when I am back at my DAW. Very disappointed if this doesn't work. "Camel" and Apple can both rot in Hell. Thinking of all the convolutions to download and keep installers and data files with no certainty that the program would re-install/authenticate etc.   It's inevitable that it will go I suppose though still infuriating.

I have no money and lost my job.

If the sound card with Sonar worked OK 'til a few months, must be a solution.

Sorry to hear that. The biggest problem is Windows 10 and the fact your older card is not supported. As others have said you might be better off dropping the Soundblaster and using an on board card instead even with ASIO4ALL.

    (Edit) - kitecrazy has it....

I tried bandlab cakewalk. Ty for the tip.

    Exactly same problem.

So, must be win10 with some update tha are creating a issue with creative drivers.

    Sucks.

Why are you so resistant to losing the Soundblaster?

All kinds of issues with Soundblaster  drivers, especially with windows 10, which doesn't support your card. You've a decent PC. Spend a few dollars on a low cost interface and like Cactus advises, launch that old Soundblaster. Time to move on.

  7. There are lots of posts about issues with sound blaster based sound cards being hosed by Windows 10. Just one example below.

There are lots of low cost audio cards our there that would be a better choice for SONAR than what you are trying to use. May want to consider upgrading to Cakewalk by Bandlab while you are upgrading too.

  8. I am amazed by the diversity of sound from both chromaphone and string studio. Chromaphone pretends to be (just) a percussion synth (which it does wonderfully) but the synth sounds that can be coaxed from it (by someone with some skill) are amazing. I love some of the basses, in particular, in this set.

My own meager skills at developing new sounds are sad next to the skill of some of these sound designers.

    (...and thanks)

  9. I bought this from JRR Shop as soon as I saw this but shortly afterwards the great folks at AAS sent me an email giving it to me for free because I couldn't take advantage of their free Christmas/holiday download (I own all their plugs and soundsets). So I have an unredeemed license at JRR that I will give away free to the first person I hear from. If interested PM me your email address and your forum user name and I'll send you the link.

This is a really good sound set by the way.
