  1. Hi, another silly question perhaps but a curiosity nonetheless.

This didn't happen in CbB but does now in registered Sonar: I create a new project, load a VST (e.g. Scaler). I leave the project and alt-tab through my active programs, and although Sonar is closed, I see 2 windows that I can alt-tab to (although nothing happens when I do): 1) a small one that looks like a title bar Scaler 1 2 (Untitled Project1), and 2) a fuller sized one with a black background called Scaler 1 2 (Untitled Project1).

When I repeat these steps in CbB, the 2 ghost windows do not appear after CbB has been closed.

I'm wondering if this is a Windows 11 bug or a Scaler bug or a Sonar bug. Can anyone else reproduce this?

Below is a pretty good, quick overview video that is embedded at the top of this page

One thing that is not mentioned is that oversampling is by plugin (not the overall DAW), so it allows higher detail processing internally. In many cases this is not overly noticeable, but in situations with older, lower-quality samples going in this can have a very audible result. This also depends on what that plugin is actually processing/doing.

As mentioned, bear in mind that oversampling adds stress to the CPU. Since he showed Melda plugs in that video, I think that most of their plugins now support 1024x oversampling (which is crazy high). I don't think I have ever used anything over 8x, with 4x being the most common choice if used. Many plugin vendors have oversampling embedded into them, so it is certainly not required to put it on the DAW to achieve this.

The video was particularly useful. Thanks again.

  3. Hi all,

Thanks for your answers on how to get it to work. Now I'm lost on what it really means to oversample.

Documentation says that "Plugin oversampling allows you to 2x, 4x, 8x, or 16x upsample any effects or instruments in the project to take advantage of higher sample rate processing without raising the actual project sample rate which can increase CPU load. By upsampling only plugins that benefit from high sample rates, you can keep your CPU load down while taking advantage of any sonic advantages of higher sample rate processing. Plugin oversampling automatically upsamples the data sent to the specified plugins and then downsamples the output back to the project sample rate. You can choose to do this in realtime during playback or only at render time."

In your experience, does this upsampling produce a "hearable" difference in sound? I suppose my question is "what should I expect from using the oversampling"?

    Thanks,

  4. Hi all,

I'm using the premium tier Sonar (build 31.06.0.048). When I insert a synth via the browser or right clicking on the track list, I am taken to the Synth Rack. In CbB, I was taken to the main screen. Have I not chosen the proper option somewhere or is this the way things will be from now on?

    Thanks for your time,

It says on the offer page (down the bottom, in a smaller font), "Subscription auto-renews at regular price."  I am confident that, when it gets close to renewal time, you will get an email letting you know you will be charged.

If you choose not to renew, then it would revert to Sonar Free Tier.

Oh, didn't see that. Thanks for the spoon feeding!

  6. This one I do

The $49 offer is still there. However, you need to use this this link: https://www.bandlab.com/membership/get-membership?productAttribution=cw-cbb-offer

Notice the parameter productAttribution=cw-cbb-offer at the end of the url. I guess BandLab wants to keep track of how many CbB users are willing to pay for the membership.

This one I do get to see. How strange that they'd do something like this.

So tell me, if I bite and pay the $49, what happens at the end of the year. Do I still get to use Sonar Premium?

For the previous time this deal was announced, i had to clear my browser’s cache/cookies (Firefox) for the Bandlab website.

I then had to manually sign in, and when i checked out, the deal worked.

    That didn't work for me.

  8. Bristol_Jonesey,

I'm from Missouri. You have to show me. Actually Mississauga, but it's spelled similarly. Just kidding.

The question that I forgot to ask was are the projects backwardly compatible, i.e. CbB project, saved in Sonar, will it open in CbB again? Let's just say I was burned in 2018 and don't know what to believe with this generous, free offer.
