  1. FWIW: I would check to see if they show up and can be routed in MidiOx. If so, it might indicate a Cakewalk issue. (or a Windows issue). In my case, I have found that exiting Cakewalk and powering off the devices and then powering them back on, resets them in Windows. Windows reports the audio and or MIDI devices that were previously unavailable to Cakewalk (although, they showed up in Device Manager as fine) are back in Cakewalk! Hopefully that will work for you. I know it doesn't make sense but the process has worked for me. MidiOx is excellent for testing Midi issues (and other stuff, like remapping CC's). Good luck! Ron
  2. Problem solved with one click! Just click the FX button and disable the audio effects! Doh! Face Smack! 😵
  3. Funny thing. If I delete the synth tracks and then recreate them, there's no latency. Profit. Not so fast! I save it, fine. I save, exit and reload it and BOOM, it's back. Weird. In any case these are the VSTs: Vocal Chain VSTs: Antares Mic Mod EFX Ozone Imager ERA 4 Plosive Remover Waves DeBreath Mono Waves DeEsser Stereo Waves CLA Vocals Waves Vocal Rider Stereo Audio Instrument Tracks (2) Both Have: Soundspot Propane Voxengo Span 2.9 So, I guess once I have the MIDI parts done (and hope I save and not exit or CBL doesn't crash, which it very rarely does) I'll just freeze the synth output audio. If I want to add some more synth stuff, I'll just make new tracks and freeze the audio. It's a bit of a hassle but that's what I have to do. The question now is: Why when I add MIDI there's no problem. When I save exit and reload, the latency returns, how does that happen and what is the cause? I don't recall this happening with previous releases.
  4. I believe I have figured out what was going on. On this project I had about 4 Waves plug-ins for vocals and, two plugins for each of two audio tracks. I haven't tested exactly which plugin might be the culprit as I setup a vocal chain for my wife, and I don't want to screw around with that because it is tweaked to perfection. Everything is ready for her vocal and I'm done. I made another copy of that project and deleted all the audio tracks and, no midi latency. So it must have been one of the plugins. I will research that later. Fortunately, for this project I was able to use the synths I needed on my Sonic-Core machine as standalones. The SC box is connected via MIDI, ADAT and audio. with both machines clocked. I think I just never noticed it before because when I record her, I disable the VSTs and just give her a little reverb on her bus. That's because when I have all the VSTs running in her FX chain, there is latency which makes it impossible for her to sing. After she's done her best take (I rarely have to touch her vocals), I turn the chain on and we can hear her blissful voice, and I can then mix and master. My theory is that some audio VST is causing the MIDI problem. I'm going to spend some time on tracking that down after I finish this project. At that time, I will post exactly which one(s) I found. I suspect it is in her vocal chain, which is turned off when I do my MIDI stuff and lay out those tracks before the vocals go on. This time I had it on to do some MIDI touch-ups with a flute and celeste here and there and must have forgot to turn it off. I know it's a long story but I'm sure the solution will be short. The bottom line is it is not a Cakewalk problem but some wayward audio VST which I recently installed several. I greatly appreciate all your input on this head scratcher!
  5. Any ideas? I now have to use my VSTs on a different less powerful machine sending MIDI there with NO LATENCY and recording back into Cakewalk via ADAT. 😓
  6. Msmcleod: Did that. Says version is current. John; Me too, but no installers to be found. Not even in a back-up. No joy guys but much gratitude for your replies. For the life of me, how hard is it to do what everyone else does? Have a downloadable installer available online besides BA.😠
  7. Assistant says version is current. No update option. I don't ever recall getting anything in that folder. I thought there was a roll back file available. But if I did that, the GUI and transport lag would return. I'll just work with the 2 machines with zero latency via Sonic-Core hosting VSTs and audio. VoiceMeeter turns Scope ASIO into a multi ASIO Host. Just need to update some VSTs on that box. It's a workaround for now, but the Sonic-Core machine is not nearly as powerful as my main DAW machine. If it matters, I'm running Win 8 64 Pro at average 3200Mhz and 64 GB of RAM and all SSDs.
  8. Any ideas? I now have to use my VSTs on a different less powerful machine sending MIDI there with NO LATENCY and recording back into Cakewalk via ADAT. 😓
  9. OMG! You are correct sir! This is a show stopper! I don't have problems with controller latency anymore. I was overjoyed until now my VST's are taking a half a second from keypress to audio! THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP! PRETTY PLEASE!!!!!!!!
  10. True. I've uploaded and mastered several tracks. The mastering is superb! 😊
  11. This became an issue with prior releases. Late, very late or no response to transport. Same with mute, solo, faders and knobs. Made mixing intolerably frustrating. This release solved those issues 100%. Thanks to support for working closely with me to try to solve the issues, testing different projects, suspected VSTs to no joy. Now those issues are totally gone. Can't wait to use some of the new features. Very excited about the Arranger! Thank you for a great product. Been using Cakewalk from when it was Twelve Tone Systems in 1987 on a home-brew IBM clone with a Voyetra MPU-401. I still have the card and the disks! My wife and I were working on this mix of Over The Rainbow and it was a bitch. Our next one is going to be a lot easier! This one uses tracks from Katherine McFee's version with some touches from me and she is singing. We were both pros when we were younger, I kept it up but she though she lost it. I've been goading her for years and we would do some vocals and piano in my home studio but I couldn't convince her she still had it. But the the quarantine changed all that! I even made a website for her where the files are higher quality MP3's than the one I could upload because of size limitations. http://SongsFromTheQuarantine.com Over The Rainbow.mp3
  12. Since I couldn't find a way to roll back, I just crossed my fingers and uninstalled. Re-installed via Assistant. Projects loaded perfectly. All modules available again. Transport seems back to normal so far. All my settings were totally intact, even control surfaces! Whew, what a relief. 😅
  13. Thanks for the reply. I do have a Realtek card but I disabled it immediately (with a lot of other stuff) because I use ASIO ADAT to communicate with multiple systems in many channels and timing in my studio So WASAPI won't do it for me. I could uninstall the Realtek driver, but I'm afraid everytime I reboot, Windows will find it and automatically reinstall the driver and I have to go uninstall it again!!!!! I'm not even sure that will fix things. I seemed to have narrowed it down to the Console window. Any changes to it's size, after the project loads and it is undocked, kicks it in. This only started happening with the latest release and projects created with it. I've seen no problems with projects created with earlier releases. Now I know this may seem like a strange theory but I have proven it over and over again. I think their is a video related bug that slipped into the console view with the latest release. This is when it first happened. It is especially nefarious with multi monitors. I have always had a track view on one monitor and a console view on another with nary a problem. I tried both the built in GPU (Intel HD 600) and the GeForce GT-770M with no difference. As of now I am thinking that if I rollback a release, things should go back to normal, I hope, But as you know, I can't do that through the Assistant, and legacy releases are just not available. I kind of wish I downloaded earlier releases standalone and not via Bandlab Assistant which apparently deletes them from the download folder with no option to roll back. At least then I would have a back-up. I could go to a back-up I have, weekly, but I would not know which files to restore without screwing things up. Would restoring just the Cakewalk Core files I mention here, in file folder work? The Re the only files seem to be changed recently: Cakewalk.exe (4/24/2020) TTSImage, dll (4/24/2020) TTSRes.dll (4/24/2020) The latest file before that is libsndfile-1.dll (4/2/2020) Thanks for your help, Ron
  14. At the top left of the track strip ther is a tiny double arrow that looks like a fast forward or rewind button. That will open or close a column on the left that has the controls you want!
  15. Transport suddenly had slow or no response. It can take several seconds to repond to transport controls (via keyboard or control surfaces. In fact this is true of any function such as mute, solo, etc. I have not changed anything on the machine. Tried reloading, restarting to no avail. Freezing VST tracks and deleting the VSTs (Groove Agent and DW Drum enhancer) However, it seems to day, I loaded a previous version of the project that had lesser tracks, which always worked. Closed that, loaded thelater version wthat has more tracks and it seems okay! Any ideas about why this can happen. I am running 8.1 Pro, Intel i7-4700 MQ, All drives are SSD. 32GB Ram, all extraneous services disabled. I closed Cakewalk and later reopened and the same behavior with responsiveness occurred. It seems that the further into the playing project it gets so bad as to be practically unusable. Thanks in advance. I tried increasing playback buffers and that seems to work. Keeping fingers crossed. Oh boy started happening again.
