  1. I use a USB Sound Blaster card on my laptop when docked, and today when I tried to play MIDI in Cakewalk after docking my laptop it wouldn't recognize my sound blaster as a midi device, and only showed the default soundcard on my computer. How can I get it to recognize/reconfigure my sound cards when docked so that it sees the Soundblaster?
  2. Is there as easy a way to delete time/measures from MIDI tracks as to insert it using the Project/"Insert Time/Measures..." menu option? If so I'm missing it. The MIDI I am working with was played in via an instrument and starts on Beat 2 of Measure 2 and I'd just like to get rid of that first beat in that second measure and shift everything to the left, so to speak... I cannot seem to select that lead quarter rest with the selection tool to try and use "cut" on it, either. It gets annoying because there are many subsequent measures of this sequence that end in half notes and these are all now tied across measures because the music is essentially shifted over one beat to the right. BTW I tried to search the online help documentation and was consistently directed to the explanation for "Edit/Paste"... Just want you all to know I'm trying to be self-sufficient here!! I know you probably have something easy to do this with, it's just not readily apparent to me where it's at... Thanks all for the fast responses to my newbie questions, BTW! I really appreciate this as I come up the learning curve after being away for a while. I used SONAR years ago and am getting my feet wet with CbB now.
  3. Actually this issue seemed to self-correct after a reboot.
  4. I was using my laptop computer's internal sound card in Cakewalk to do MIDI composition. I just received a Sound Blaster X USB card and plugged it in, and cakewalk plays back MIDI sequences on this device much MUCH slower than it did on the internal Sound Card. Why is this? Is there some MIDI settings I can change? It's a simple piano MIDI tune, and I seem to perceive that even as it plays through half a dozen measures or so that its speed isn't consistent - it speeds up and slows down rather erratically, but it's doing so at a much slower clip than it was on my computer's default soundcard. Any ideas what I can change to fix this?
  5. BTW I created a custom "Compose and Edit SATB MIDI" Workspace, reopened my template and all is working fine now. Thanks again for the reply scook!!
  6. Thanks for the reply. This means I need BOTH a Template AND a Workspace setup then to basically map out a beginning screen layout with the various tools and views set up the way I want to start up a project? Okay... I guess my off the cuff feedback to the user interface design team as a relative CbB newbie would be that having two UI concepts control your basic layout, to me, seems unnecessarily complex. Take the feedback for whatever it's worth, but I'd prefer a simpler way to set up an initial tool/view layout that persists from session to session.
  7. I've set up a new template with just the views the way I'd like, for example, Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass MIDI tracks, the clef settings for the tracks, and the Staff View with all of the tracks pre-picked and displayed right below the minimized track view. However, whenever I open up that template to start up a new project, it flashes up the view I set up in the template only to close up the staff view a split second later. Then I need to manually bring back up the staff view and re-pick the track views I want to include there. This is highly annoying to me. The whole purpose of setting up the template was to define the tracks and the views the way I wanted to start a new project!! I'm wondering if there isn't some template setting or preference option in the long list that is by default unchecked that clears out all views upon opening a template. If not, can this be fixed so that the views set up in a template don't all automatically close up when starting a new project??
