  1. Hello, all of a sudden I can't run or install Cakewalk! I have Windows 11 installed with the latest updates but hadn't used this laptop in a few weeks. I get an error: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared DXi\GroovePlayer\GroovePlayer.dll Unable to register the DLL/OCX:RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3. Would be so appreciative of any help!!! The latest Win 11 doesn't have Groove Player, only the latest Media Player which I understand has replaced Groove Player.
  2. I was pretty frustrated that I could not connect my M-Audio Keystation 61 Mk3 to Cakewalk on new Surface Pro 7. I got an error message saying that I don't have enough memory. Extensive searching on Google gave me no solution, and support at Cakewalk had no ideas either. So: I spent 3 hours exploring trial versions of other DAWs. Somewhere along that process, a couple of ASIO driver programs got installed on my Surface Pro. Asio4all and FL Studio Asio. I don't know which of these two fixed the problem, but I'm going to leave them in. With them in, my keyboard connects perfectly to Cakewalk and I even tried out the Strings VST, which is very nice! Wow, what a relief. Hopefully the folk at Cakewalk will make note of this and help others who had a similar predicament as me. I also plan to explore under preferences, the choice of ASIO or one of the other choices, whether that influences MIDI connections. Addendum/Correction. Turns out when I uninstalled these programs, I wound up deleting whatever helped my Cakewalk issue. I installed Asio4all but that did not solve the problem, and in fact added listings when I chose ASIO in preferences. So I uninstalled it. I give up; 3 hours wasted!
  3. Sorry but how wrong you are; the memory error did not allow me to hook up my keyboard to Cakewalk. But please read below, I found the solution.
  4. OK people, I explored trial versions of other DAWs. Ableton Live, FL Studio, and Pro Tools. Somewhere along the way, the programs installed ASIO drivers: Asio4all and FL Studio Asio. Well, guess what, with these drivers in place, no more issue connecting my keyboard to Cakewalk! I even tried out the Strings VST, nice! All this took me about three hours in all I think! Uhhh, I spoke too soon. After I uninstalled the trial versions, now Cakewalk gives me the same error: inadequate memory when I click on Keystation 61 as my keyboard. I give up; after 3 hours of work, I am back to square 1! I think 4 glasses of WINE will solve my problems!
  5. Increased the memory, made no difference! Duh. I hate returning things, but I'm seriously thinking of returning the Surface Pro 7 and getting an iPad Pro. Which means I can't use Cakewalk anymore. Double Duh! Hmmm, maybe I'll try a trial version of Ableton Live and see if I can get the Keystation 61 to work on it.
  6. Hi, teknot, my Surface Pro 7 has 8 GB of memory. Thx, I will go into Windows 10 and work on the Page File Memory settings. I'll also compare these settings with my Lenovo Laptop. Will write back on what happens!
  7. Hi all! I'm pretty dismayed with Cakewalk on my new Surface Pro 7. Under Edit>Preferences, I click on the box next to Keystation 61, and it says there is not enough memory! No such problem with my 5 year old Lenovo laptop! Blessings to anyone who can help me resolve this! I love Cakewalk!
  8. Hi there, am just getting familiar with CW! This is the second day that I have played with it, Have watched several tutorials on YouTube. I mostly play with karaoke. So the issue is: I import the background karaoke track MP3 on one track, create another track for my vocals. But I find it near impossible to lower the MP3 track volume adequately! I tried the volume dB slider to the left of the track, that did not help. I then selected the track and went to Process, tried to lower it there, no good. Then based on a video on YouTube I found I had to bring up Console view, and turn down the knob that says Pre-Gain. That works. I have to experiment more as what really counts is to produce an MP3 that has the right balance of my voice and the karaoke background, and adequate total volume. Also, I have to experiment more with the In and Out USBs so I can hear exactly what is being recorded. Oh, one other question. I love to play karaoke MP4 files on my cell phone and sing along. But importing MP4 into CW, only shows thumbnails and not a live video. Is that normal? No way to watch and listen to a karaoke MP4 file and sing along? Thx much! So far I find it far more advanced than Audacity which I've used for a couple of years now. The problem I have found with Audacity, is that my vocal volume, if I push it to an extent that seems to have a good dB signal, distortion occurs. I had to repeatedly amplify to improve; even then, the MP3 volume is not that great. I now have to see if with CW I can get adequately loud MP3s of the final mix. Raja
