Best post ever to silence the annoying Linux user.   Some are more annoying than Apple users outside the DAW world.

You know what is even more annoying? People who keep complaining about annoying Linux/Mac/Windows users.

Full disclosure, I was a long time Linux/Ubuntu user but moved to Windows to do music software. But there are a lot of things I miss in Windows. I also don't like OS X but I do understand there are people who prefer it and that is okay with me. So as far as I am concerned, each to their own.

i was about to get upgrade to V9 for $99.

My upgrade is $299 even with now owning V8. I already own augmented strings and voices so I don't think the upgrade is worth it for me. Even at $99, the upgrade for me would be no different than the crossgrade at $149, since I paid $49 for V8. I am completely satisfied with scoring V8 for $49 and will stick with it for the time being.

yeah. i believe that was the issue. this store only accepts orders from US. I am in Canada. It would allow the Paypal order to  go through but then block it back at the website due to billing address.

I am in Canada as well. I used Google Pay, the order went through, and I received email confirmation of the order but still have not received my license. I ordered yesterday at 12:15PM PST.

  4. I believe the real issue was that OB-Xd being a GPL open source project, any modifications to the open source project needed to also be open source. It sounded like DiscoDSP was not doing that. It looks like they have since obtained a commercial license which allows them to keep their mods closed source.

I'm not a spokesperson for 8Dio, just a fan who happens to be doing some independent consulting. So I'm just responding here as a fellow forum member, but I would suggest you contact their support person. I mean, I'm friends with Tawnia, the CEO, but when I have questions, I contact support and their support has been consistently excellent and very friendly.

I can attest to this as well. Unlike a company who shall be nameless but whose initials are iKM, 8Dio rewards past clients. During the recent Black Friday sales, I was able to get the Insolidus choir for $30 because I already had Silka. I was also able to get Roula for $14 because I already had the other six  items in the Singers Emotional Bundle. All I did was write support and they came through with a personalized coupon. All my other past interactions have been exceptional as well.

The link is not difficult to find, just go to https://www.tone2.com/icarus-update.html, search the page for "upgrade to icarus v3.x" and click it.

Is it an old link that should have been changed to the new link? Is it that they were thinking about a grace period and then it will change? I don't know. Sure, this kind of confusion causes hesitation, kills my impulse buy, and makes me take a harder look at the price

They must have fixed the link because it now goes to the 2 or 3 upgrade.

Yes, it is confusing that the link for "Upgrade to Icarus v3.x or v2.5" adds a product to the cart that does not mention v3

I can't find this link on the site. All the links I have found bring me to the more expensive option. I wonder of the link you found is an old link that should have been changed to the new link. I think I would be hesistent to use the cheaper link since there is no mention of v3 in the cart.

Must be generic- I got the email (I assume) because I already owned the flute (and the tenor sax) from 8DIO and it was referred to as a crossgrade.  I already had the Soundpaint sax and it is very good, so I took the flute for a tenner without hesitation.  The libraries are huge, but if drive space is a concern, you can delete a bunch of articulations that you probably will never use (63 for the flute and 72 for the sax).

I don't own either the flute or the tenor sax but I received the offers anyway. I took the flute for a tenner.
