it's terrible - let's try the most famous mics of all time:

a search for C12 just comes with some random modern clones
search for U47 comes up with the modern TF clone
a search for U47 Fet points to the OPR clone
a search for U67 comes up blank

try a more modern classic - Royer r121 - no result :D - you need to search for R-121 - not Royer or R121

the links themselves are just the manufacturers blurb (EXACT reproduction of a V14 etc :D

It's just a weak excuse to try to sell you some product

    much better is:

    http://recordinghacks.com/microphones

The mics are there; the problem is the actual search engine. For example, you need to search for C 12, U 47 Fet, U 67, etc. The entries themselves, for at least for the ones I looked at, were not just  manufacturers blurbs.

It does look like the recordinghacks site does have way more information though, including frequency response and links to the manufactures' websites. The site itself is butt ugly but that is just my opinion.

    "Why the name JRR Shop?"

Over the years, many customers have asked "Why the name JRR Shop"? Some have even called up asking, "Can I speak to JR?". Well, folks, there's no JR here! Just Roots Records was a record label I started while I was in college. When I started JRR Shop, I thought you musicians would like knowing that you're buying from other musicians, and that having us be tied to Just Roots Records would endear us in your hearts. Alas, time has marched on and JRR Shop has since taken over as our great love, leaving Just Roots Records by the wayside. Now you can visit www.justroots.com to see our evil cats!

Feel free to call us "Just Roots Recording Shop", "Japan Rock & Roll Shop", or "Jelly Rolly Rocka' Shop". Whatever you decide to go with, just remember that with a name as bad as JRR Shop, we have to be good!

To all of you, from all of us at JRR Shop - Thank you and Happy Music Making!

Ya, I am the firstborn; my parents' anniversary was in April, my birthday is in October.

Likewise. I felt a bit awkward celebrating my 50th birthday the same year my parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Or any significant anniversary actually. I could see people doing the math in their head.

10 years ago if you were in a field with a robot and that robot wanted to kill you, it wouldn't be a problem, you could just run away from it. Now, these robots can run faster than you, so if you were in that same field with a modern robot it's game over for you. What nobody seems to, or wants to realize is that this is a massive evolutionary jump in 10 years or so which took evolution millions of years to evolve between predator and prey.

At this rate, robots will take over in as little as 300 years. Make no mistake, the robot apocalypse is already on it's way.

I am ready for our robot overlords. That is why I talk so nicely to my Google NEST.

I can't remember where I got this summary, but here it is:

Here's a quick rundown of the many versions of three of their main pianos (I've marked the ones I consider to be the ultimate versions in bold):

    Yamaha C7

    • TBO (The Big One) = Close mic
    • 7CG (Seven Seas Grand) = Room mic
    • TSO (The Small One) = Close mic lite
    • 7CG Jr (Seven Seas Grand Junior) = Room mic lite
    • TBO MkII = The close mic with version 2 upgrades
    • 7CG MkII = The room mic with version 2 upgrades
    • TVBO (The Very Big One) = Both close mic version 2 and room mic version 2 (i.e., this is the most complete version)

    Steinway D

    • Black Grand = original version, all 3 mic perspectives
    • Black Grand Close = original version, close mic only
    • Black Grand Medium = original version, medium mic only
    • Black Grand Ambient = original version, room mic only
    • Steiny D - Close! = A lite version of Black Grand Close
    • Steiny D - Classic Grand = A lite version Black Grand Ambient (or medium?)
    • Steiny D Close sfzed and Steiny D Classic Sfzed = as above but for Sforzando rather than Kontakt.
    • SampleTekk Black - Powered by Kontakt = a version that came out after the original version but before the MKII version. So far as I can see it has just one mic perspective, 'refined samples' (I'm not sure what that means exactly), and runs in the free Kontakt Player (most of their other libraries don't).
    • Black Grand MkII = all 3 mics, plus version 2 upgrades (i.e., this is the most complete version)

    Malmsjö

    • White Grand = original version, close mic
    • White Sister = original version, stereo mics
    • Blue Grand = Close and Room mics for a more ambient sound plus some slight changes to the tuning (I think from the description this may be pre-mixed, you don't have control of the different mics, but I'm not sure, and I don't know what they mean by "changes to the tuning").
    • WG Jr = original version, lite version of White Grand
    • WG2 = original version, both close and stereo mics
    • White Grand Mk II = close mic with version 2 upgrades
    • Blue Grand MkII = Blue Grand with version 2 upgrades
    • WG2 MKII = Both mics with version 2 upgrades

You got this from this VI-Control thread. It has been linked to every time this topic comes up. It is a good summary. Should be a sticky.

Sugar Bytes: Artillery 2 ($29.50 in cart @JRRShop)(Maybe pricing mistake and it's taking 50% off the sales price in cart.

Audio Deluxe has it for $59.00 on sale from $119.00

    Same with this one too:

Yep. An dI thought maybe it was something on that page that was broke, so I tried as many other ways as I could to get it in the cart... never happened.

They just don't want our money Doug!!

Well to be honest, they won't get my money, not because I don't like RA but because I already have everything in the Everything bundle. I was just adding another data point to yours, to let you know it wasn't just you.

  8. There is something strange with my upgrade path. I have Diamond plus a bunch of other plugins. My upgrade price to Horizon is $139 but my upgrade price to Horizon + Restoration + Saphira + NLS is only $75. I am assuming that there is no direct upgrade path from Diamond to Horizon. Perhaps Diamond is not a subset of Horizon but somehow adding Restoration Saphira and NLS to the pot makes it workable. The other weird thing is that the list price for Horizon is $3293 but the list price for Horizon + Restoration + Saphira + NLS is only $1781. Waves pricing is bonkers.
