  1. Thanks, David. I'll see if the guy who did the track can record his click and send it to my engineer. Hoping for a software designed for this kind of thing solution.
  2. Ugh. On a beautiful ending to a song where the acoustic guitar and bass sound a final note/chord, there's an audible click track. Some might not notice it, but it was a nightmarish moment hearing it. Is there software, a plugin that can fix that? Replaying the last note is not a great option. And do any of you do that kind of work? It's a bout a 5 second segment.
  3. In another thread someone suggested deleting the aud.ini file. Tried it, no change. A few others said they had audio engine problems after they updated the latest Focusrite drivers. Hmm...perhaps I can try going back to the older driver.
  4. No VSTs, no effects, nuthin'! New project with 6 audio tracks. Every time I import a file the blue circle of hell does its thing and cycles for a long time. Sometimes doesn't stop. Eventually up pops the Audio Engine Dropout (12). Other times, the file is imported but I can't save the project without triggering the next round of blue circle joy. Seeking a solution for this issue with Code: 12 Reason for dropout: [Internal] Internal audio buffer memory limit overflow. Potential preventative action: Contact support with recipe/project file. 1. Been running Latency Monitor for 30 minutes, no issues. 2. Focusrite 18i8 1st Gen. Latest driver. 3. This is a new system with 64 GB RAM.
  5. When I click import, CW is defaulting to the Audio Library folder on my C: drive . How can I set that to open to my Projects file on my M: drive? Also, on the same screen when importing, "Preview Bus" is set to Focusrite USB ASIO Mon 1. I usually set it to Master. I don't know what I'm doing nor why. Can someone please explain this to me? Thanks!
  6. Thank you! Now I can proceed and just accept the defaults then change the options based on my new system's needs. Gratitude!
  7. New PC. Installed SPLAT + everything first. Then installed Cakewalk by Bandlab. Upon first opening Cakewalk, I get this popup: You are running CW for the first time. We found some custom settings from a previous install. Would you like to use those settings in this version? IF it will set my settings from my other PC's installation of CWbB, that would be great. Or is it sensing SPLAT?
  8. Yes, I see. I do have my Global Audio Data S:\Cakewalk Projects\Audio Data set to the same drive as my projects, so that's good. And, I see 1,311 files totaling 23 GB in that folder. I guess I can verify that those files are actually in the project's audio folders and then clear out the 23 GB. Yes?
  9. Okay, do I have this right? If I: Delete all my clips and zero out all my tracks Save As Unselect "copy all audio with project" Give the project a new name, e.g., "Scook's Greatest Hits" then I will have created a clean "template" of sorts established. Yes?
  10. Thanks, scook! In each option, are all of the wav files, clips, etc. copied with it? And if I what I really want to do is take a project with all of its settings but not have any or all of the recorded files come along with it, what's the best way to do that?
  11. What's the functional difference between Save/Save As, and Save as Copy? What does and doesn't get saved with each?
  12. As I prepare to move to my new PC, I'm revisiting my folder location preferences and am looking for best practices. Here's what I've been using: Project Files are set to my S: drive which is an SSD solely dedicated to my working project files. Wave Files are also set to my S: drive. What is this for? In Cakewalk I have my .wav files all directed to reside in each project folder's location. All of my other folder locations appear to be defaults residing on my C drive (SSD). A. Suggestions? Input?
  13. I've unsuccessfully searched for threads on best practices in installing. I remember there were guidance threads. 1. Sonar Platinum first, then Cakewalk, right? A. Where do I find the latest version of SPLAT? Do I download the old Command Center here? https://www.cakewalk.com/command-center B. And jeez, all the plugins? 2. Cakewalk should be easy, just log in to my account, install Bandlab and go from there, right? 3. Is there an easy way to export a list of settings or do I need to create screenshots of every option and preference page? 4. Other things to be aware or beware of? 5. Hmm, I probably need to install my Focusrite 18i8 first, right? Thx!
  14. Imu2002, thanks. I'm a ways off from 4k video but since I tend to keep systems for years, I'd like to do as much fwd thinking about how I might use it in a year or 4.
  15. My 2013 system wants to go to the great beyond so it's time to choose specs. I get my systems from the guys at SilentPC.com and they take incredible care of people. 7 year old system and they earnestly try to help troubleshoot problems without ever suggesting getting a new system. Good folks. My old system has an ASUS Z87 Deluxe 1150 Intel Z87 Intel Motherboard, with Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell 3.4GHz Quad-Core 84w CPU, and 16GB (2 x 8GB) Kingston DDR3. It has served me well. Need to decide on specs. My uses: Music: Basic recording to this point, guitars, vocals. But intend to start doing my own Melodyne work on my vox, maybe use soft synths but unlikely heavy use. Music: When I'm editing tracks there can be 100 once all band tracks are input. Breakdown would be something like 10 drum tracks, bass, 8 guitar tracks, 6 keyboard tracks, and at times 35 vocal tracks / harmonies. Music: I do NOT do my own mixing but am learning to play with effects and EQ. Video: I'm just learning to use Adobe Premiere ELEMENTs for basic YouTube and Music video production. Up to now, I record videos with an external mic plugged in to Cakewalk, then EQ-effect the vocal, then export it and align in Premiere. I see on Adobe's site that for 4K video the minimum is an i7-7700. A few of my new "mid-level" system options are: Asus Prime Z370-A II ATX Socket 1151 Coffee Lake Motherboard with: Intel i7-9700 9th Gen Coffee Lake (8-Core, 8-Thread, 3.0GHz, 65W, UHD Graphics 630 (Benchmark 15811) Intel i7-9700 9th Gen Coffee Lake (8-Core, 8-Thread, 3.6GHz, 12MB Cache, 16 Lanes, 95W (Benchmark 17219) Intel i9-9900 9th Gen Coffee Lake (8-Core, 16-Thread, 3.6GHz, 12MB Cache, 16 Lanes, 95W (Benchmark 20250) 16GB Kingston DDR4 2666 CL19 Non-ECC RAM or 16GB Corsair DDR4 3200 CL16 Non-ECC RAM They have pricier systems with boards like Supermicro X11SRA-F Socket 2066 Xeon-W, Asus Rog STRIX X299-E, Asus X299 Deluxe II with Intel Socket 2066. Just not sure if it's needed.
  16. The guys at Silent PC have been my go to PC makers for 3 different systems (I'm not an owner, get no commission). 17. I always have my cursor set to "Smart". Any time I open a project, the first time I record, the cursor shifts to "Move". It doesn't do that after the subsequent takes. Anyone know why this is happening?
  18. Thanks. That could work well when I've bounced everything on a track, right? I often leave all the individual clips because I've edited some parts that may need rethinking later. Hmm...but I suppose, within each track, I could copy all the clips to another take lane to save for my above-stated purposes, then bounce the clips, et voila! Will give it a try!
  19. Thanks, that could stop me from being traumatized every time I open the project!
  20. When exporting a slew of tracks, I want Cakewalk to name those tracks solely as my tracks are named. But when exporting, I can't just leave a blank field, I have to put something in the field like a dash or or a letter. Cakewalk also add a dash and number at the end of the track name. This requires me to take a lot of time to remove the letter and dash from all the front of the track names, as well as the dash and numbers at the end of the file name. I would love the option to not have to add something to the file name field, and the creation of a checkbox: "Only name exported tracks with actual track names". And since it's unlikely that we can leave the field blank, maybe some control+shift+P type signal that Cakewalk will understand, oh, it's Chamlin and his friends who are so fussy they want their clean and proper names... Thanks!
  21. Thanks, that's both informative and helpful. Wondering if most folks here use the "create one file per clip" option, and if there are any drawbacks. ?
  22. Thanks. Jeez, that seems crazy. Of course, I've been doing it for years, but sure would be nice for a fix for that.
