I have just completed my first project where one of the tracks was recorded at a remote studio.
I recorded the acoustic guitar and vocal at my home studio using Cakewalk.
The fiddle was played and recorded by Erik Kowarski using Pro Tools at his professional studio. I recorded my first album at Erik’s Pocket Universe Studio, way back in 1996, before I setup a home studio.
Mixing and mastering was completed in my home studio using Cakewalk.
It all worked seamlessly.

Well that's quite a song, loved your vocal and the guitar, and the percussion supports. Something to be proud of. I did think the vocal was just a bit too forward in the mix, but with such a good vocal, who cares!!!
a pleasure to listen to.
cheers,
-Tom
Thanks, Tom, great you enjoyed the song. Thanks for the feedback, too, we have been trying to bring the vocal forward in the mix - perhaps we have gone too far

Hi Jane . . . such a gentle easy flow as this song moves along . . . your vocal and the chord progression on the guitar are so in sync here . . . it's very well written and performed, I also really enjoyed the way you presented it in the video, super authentic, wise old soul that you are, I was moved, as it reminded me of someone I used to know.
Great you enjoyed the song, and it's wonderful to know that the lyrics connect with others, cheers Jane

Beautiful Jane. Young heart , old soul. I believe you and the Messiah will always get along .. mark
Thanks Mark, Even though I adore my Messiah, I'm still in love with my Maton Dread that I bought 26 years ago.

Hello Jane, is this your first song posting in this forum?
If so, great recording, and playing, and lyrics, and singing.
I enjoyed that very much.
Thanks Jesse, I have posted a few songs through the years. I have been using Cakewalk since 2004, but sound engineering is not my strength
I have a small presence on Youtube, Spotify and my website.
Cheers Jane

100% first class. We are just at a weekend long music/ art festival in Penticton BC. Listening to your song in the Slumber Lodge after a great day yesterday of musical talent and you would have fit right in big time.
They have none stop acts, mostly singer songwriters and folky bands spread among 6 venues, coffee shops and Brew pubs.
Of note is all the musicians commented about this being first gig in 2 years and how great it was to be back on the touring circuitHi John, it's so great you guys are back enjoying the festivals once more. Over here, in Western Australia, they have unfortunately cancelled all of the autumn festivals ~ maybe next year Great you enjoyed Eighty-seven Years, thanks

Beautiful - stripped back and simple - just as it should be. The recording and placement of the percussion on the second part is exceptional - I can literally visualise them being played.
Terrific stuff.
Andy
Thanks, Andy, it's great folks are noticing and enjoying the percussion on this one

As I'm turning 60 in a couple of weeks, the song struck a chord with me (no pun intended).

I love writing songs about the Aussie way of life and this one is back to my traditional folk/country style.
The inspiration for Eighty-seven Years came to me when back on the road, the day after the Tamworth Country Music Festival. I was on my motorcycle and at the first stop quickly grabbed my notebook and wrote down the chorus.
It’s recorded using my Maton EM100C-808 Messiah tuned to Double Drop D.
Love to hear your thoughts.

How are you producing the backing? sounds like a PSR Yamaha thingy .. but your vocal is great .
S/R Music
Thanks, I have a Korg Harvian 30, most of the backing instrumentation comes from there

It's been a very hot summer in Perth down in the southern hemisphere.
It got me writing a fun song inspired by living by the beach.
As always, interested in feedback.

It is wonderful that this song is reaching out. I was a little concerned about putting this very personal song out there, but through your comments I am gaining confidence that this song connects with others; thanks for taking the time to listen, Jane

Hi Jane, whereabouts is that video taken? Loved the song and your voice. Also, what kind of guitar?
Hi David, We took the video on the foreshore in Safety Bay, a coastal suburb of Perth, Western Australia. We were filming at sunset just a week ago. The sunset usually glows beautiful shades of red and orange but on this particular night the sky was more ordinary The guitar is an Aussie Maton. It's an 808 Messiah model. (EM100C-808). I Bought the 808 just after Christmas when there was a bit of a discount happening Great you liked the song, thanks....

What an incredibly "beautiful" voice you have. Very stirring and well performed. Love the guitar and tone , I hope to hear more from you .. mark
Thanks for the encouragement. It's great that the song "spoke to you," we've been using Cakewalk for years and the DAW does great work for us The guitar and vocal were recorded using a Rode NT2000 mic through a Roland Octa-capture.

It has been a while since I have recorded any new songs, but back into it at the moment.
This song is just me and my new guitar - a Maton EM100C-808 Messiah. Finding the new guitar very inspiring for my song writing and recording.
In recent years, songwriters have been encouraged to write songs about mental health to help bring community awareness to this most sensitive and important subject. Help Me Free My Mind is like all my other songs, written from my own experiences and life observations.

That was fun, and totally cool of you to share that visual time capsule. I kept looking for the bungee jumpers but not, maybe thirty years later?
Nice singing! I'd vote for vocals up as well, just a smidge.
cheers,

Thanks, I thought Erik did a great job.
We don't play regularly together, but did a set together on Monday night. We had a lot of fun and got an awesome response from the crowd.
