  1. Thanks, I thought Erik did a great job. We don't play regularly together, but did a set together on Monday night. We had a lot of fun and got an awesome response from the crowd.
  2. I have just completed my first project where one of the tracks was recorded at a remote studio. I recorded the acoustic guitar and vocal at my home studio using Cakewalk. The fiddle was played and recorded by Erik Kowarski using Pro Tools at his professional studio. I recorded my first album at Erik’s Pocket Universe Studio, way back in 1996, before I setup a home studio. Mixing and mastering was completed in my home studio using Cakewalk. It all worked seamlessly. Fremantle Harbour Bound - Jane Laws (featuring Erik Kowarski)
  3. Thanks, Tom, great you enjoyed the song. Thanks for the feedback, too, we have been trying to bring the vocal forward in the mix - perhaps we have gone too far
  4. Great you enjoyed the song, and it's wonderful to know that the lyrics connect with others, cheers Jane
  5. Thanks, Bjorn, and wonderful you'll be making a trip to OZ later in the year, Cheers Jane
  6. Hi Paul, Great you enjoyed the song
  7. Thanks for the tip, something I struggle with.
  8. Thanks Mark, Even though I adore my Messiah, I'm still in love with my Maton Dread that I bought 26 years ago.
  9. Thanks Jesse, I have posted a few songs through the years. I have been using Cakewalk since 2004, but sound engineering is not my strength I have a small presence on Youtube, Spotify and my website. Cheers Jane
  10. Hi John, it's so great you guys are back enjoying the festivals once more. Over here, in Western Australia, they have unfortunately cancelled all of the autumn festivals ~ maybe next year Great you enjoyed Eighty-seven Years, thanks
  11. Thanks, Andy, it's great folks are noticing and enjoying the percussion on this one
  12. Thanks, Lee, I know the feeling of turning 60
  13. I love writing songs about the Aussie way of life and this one is back to my traditional folk/country style. The inspiration for Eighty-seven Years came to me when back on the road, the day after the Tamworth Country Music Festival. I was on my motorcycle and at the first stop quickly grabbed my notebook and wrote down the chorus. It’s recorded using my Maton EM100C-808 Messiah tuned to Double Drop D. Love to hear your thoughts.

    Half moon

    Very laid back, enjoyed it.
  15. Thanks for having a listen, it has been a pleasure to use Cakewalk over so many years
  16. Thanks, I have a Korg Harvian 30, most of the backing instrumentation comes from there
  17. Thanks, Wookiee, listening to Dire Straights version, now, to refresh my mind
  18. Thanks, Bjorn, we are looking forward to some cooler weather here in Perth, I think it's the hottest summer on record
  19. It's been a very hot summer in Perth down in the southern hemisphere. It got me writing a fun song inspired by living by the beach. Down to the Waterline As always, interested in feedback.
  20. It is wonderful that this song is reaching out. I was a little concerned about putting this very personal song out there, but through your comments I am gaining confidence that this song connects with others; thanks for taking the time to listen, Jane
  21. Hi David, We took the video on the foreshore in Safety Bay, a coastal suburb of Perth, Western Australia. We were filming at sunset just a week ago. The sunset usually glows beautiful shades of red and orange but on this particular night the sky was more ordinary The guitar is an Aussie Maton. It's an 808 Messiah model. (EM100C-808). I Bought the 808 just after Christmas when there was a bit of a discount happening Great you liked the song, thanks....
  22. Thanks for the encouragement. It's great that the song "spoke to you," we've been using Cakewalk for years and the DAW does great work for us The guitar and vocal were recorded using a Rode NT2000 mic through a Roland Octa-capture.
  23. It has been a while since I have recorded any new songs, but back into it at the moment. This song is just me and my new guitar - a Maton EM100C-808 Messiah. Finding the new guitar very inspiring for my song writing and recording. In recent years, songwriters have been encouraged to write songs about mental health to help bring community awareness to this most sensitive and important subject. Help Me Free My Mind is like all my other songs, written from my own experiences and life observations. Help Me Free My Mind - Video
  24. Thanks Tom Dad was always a risk taker
