  1. Is it possible in Cakewalk to mix without using the audio interface but switching directly to the headphones connected to the PC? Sometimes I'm not at home and I'm not connected to the audio interface and I would like to have the possibility to work on my mix just with headphones connected to my laptop. If the audio interface is not connected when I open Cakewalk it will prompt a message saying there's no audio interface and I cannot hear anything basically.
  2. Anyway I'm using LANDR for mastering my songs, anyone knows? ever used it? it's an AI online mastering platform, basically you don't do anything, you just drop your mix into LANDR and it just spit out the mastered version, you can edit some minor settings or either upload a reference track to make your master sound like that.
  3. actually yes in some parts, I'm changing the different amps and cabinets, thanks for the tip, I think it's fine now.
  4. No I did not, I’m just assuming is out of phase cause looking at the ozone imager phase meter it goes down between 0 and -1 meaning phase issue.
  5. Got it, reading it very useful article. Only doubt is when only 2 panned guitars are playing on their own, it seems to result in a phase issue.
  6. That's cool but actually I didn't record with amps, I'm recording at home with a pc, a guitar and an audio interface, that's it. So I'm using THU Overloud amp simulator, not much need of EQs, the amp plugin take the mono signal and spit it out in stereo basically. I'm now in the phase of balancing my mix, and I have some doubts. I'm using Ozone imager and yes it has a stereo widener, I have increased the stereo widener placed in the master bus at about 50% in Ozone Imager because to me it seems much better overall, sounds a bit wider. But indeed basically I see the phase meter going at about -1 in the first part of the song where only 2 clean guitars are playing. Are the 2 panned guitars causing this phase issue? Is it that they are too much panned left and right, consequently when you switch to a mono device you cannot hear one of them? Should I care if my mix cannot be heard in mono really? Since its not club music and wont be played in mono speakers? Should I really care about people playing music on their mono iphone speakers? Who does that?!! Maybe i cannot hear the phase issue cause i’m mixing with headphones being at home with my wife cannot play it on speakers!? Only thing I’m seeing is in the Ozone meter going in -1(out of phase) in some parts where only 2 clean guitars are playing, panned left and right, like if something is missing in the middle, but when the bass and drums starts playing, there’s no phase issue, probably because those are pan centered! what should I do in this case? Should I just leave it like it is? Or bring one clean lead guitar panned in the mid? If I do so, i have 1 pan center and one extreme left, leaving the right side empty, is this good for the mix balance? I mean if i have only 2 guitars playing in my mix, there’s gonna be of course some empty space, whether I pan center and right then left would sound empty, or if i pan both left / right then the center would sound empty. What would you recommend? Am I worrying too much about this stuff?
  7. Yea just a bloody meter plugin didn't think could act like that! Anyway problem solved, I'm now trying to check the mix balance and phase issues using Izotope Ozone imager, anyone knows? I was trying to follow the LCR panning rule (100% R/L and center), I found out the following. - I had some phase issues in the part of the song where 2 clean guitars Only, panned 100% L/R were playing - In the parts where 2 distorted guitars are 100% panned L/R, there's no phase issue because the bass and the drums are in the center. - So in the clean guitars part, following Ozone stereoscope, I panned them 60% left and right, no phase issue. - I can conclude that the LCR panning rule is good and sounds wide but applicable only on distorted guitar parts with drums + bass in the center At the end the meter plugin widening issue was solved, but of course it didn't sound wide when I removed it, so with Ozon I gave a little bit of stereo widening in the Master bus. Do you think is a good point? It's the first time I do this balancing/phase thing.
  8. No because it was not an effect plugin, it's just a meter to see if the track clips, I couldn't think that would cause this issue honestly.
  9. No is not that, it's the THU amp sim plugin, basically I tried to switch to another pre-set in thu adding another amp, and it changed to stereo, so it must be some settings in the plugin. I'm just wondering if this mono/stereo thing can affect the mix to become out of phase, not sure whether that's the cause.
  10. I'm finding out the problem step by step and now I think I'm getting closer to the solution! Indeed the freeG Meter plugin is transforming the mono signal in stereo! The one I had on the master bus was widening all my mix. If I switch it off the signal goes back to mono. I removed it from my master bus and all other tracks and sounds good now!!! Now some tracks are also affected by the TH-U amp sim plugin, in some tracks the plugin is active but is not converting it to mono, in some other tracks it is. Have you ever used TH-U? Should the guitar tracks be transformed in stereo by the amp sim plugin? I think yes, because the track resulting out of phase is the one that is in mono (Arpeggio)

  12. Actually I'm having serious doubts on how I recorded the guitars, something very strange is happening. If I take these 2 tracks for instance, when I open the project and click on the input/output track option in all tracks I see the following, even though I recorded the guitars in Mono (as you can see from the waveform is mono) If I remember well when I recorded the guitars I put Mono (Right) as option If I put the Ozone imager in Arpeggio Track I see the following mono signal If I put the Ozone in the other Solo track instead I see the following, it seems like the track is in stereo?? What's going on? The input output settings are the same in both tracks! How should the input track setting be to record guitars?
  13. Hi guys/gals, I'm not such a pro at mixing and I'm still learning, despite this I have recorded and mixed a few songs at home which sounds pretty ok to me. I'm using Cakewalk by Bandlab, I'm now in the phase where I'm trying to understand a few things like Mix balance, stereo width and phase issues. I downloaded Izotope Ozone Imager (freeware version) and upload it on my Master bus, I was wondering if any of you is using it and would give me some tips. There are some things that are not quite clear to me. So I have read and followed pretty much the LCR technique, recommended by lot of mixing engineers, so in my mix (instrumental song), I have drums, bass and lots of guitars with clean and distorted parts. So where I have only 2 guitars I panned them 100% right and left, when 3 guitars I put 2 on the sides and one in the mid. Bass and drums in the center. I used a reference track and also there I can hear the guitars 100% or so panned L/R. I tried to look at the stereo ozone imager graph on the master bus but it's not clear to me what should it looks like, how it is suppose to look? I understand that the -1/0/1 bar on the right should be between 0 and 1, if it goes to -1 it's out of phase. If it's out of phase, what should I do to the mix? pan the guitars I put 100% left and right more in the middle? like 60/50 % pan? If so, that wouldn't follow anymore the LCR technique correct? I want my guitars to be wide. Out of phase means the instrument is too much panned left and right and so should be panned more in the mid? Am I wrong? In my mix in the first (clean) part of the song it goes under 0 on the right bar, so it seems out of phase, what should be done to avoid this? again not pan the guitars 100% R/L? Also the waves I see in the imager left and right should not be larger or the same as the one in the middle? or is it ok? WHat if one wave on the left end is longer that the one on the right? is it bad? Could someone please clarify these points? Here's my mix if someone would like to have a listen. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oLGf45PdSCaTDvxdgJU7Fm2DdYNpHXeG/view?usp=sharing Thanks
  14. DO you mean pasting a track over another one by mistake? I don't think so because the problem is not on one track is on every track.
  15. No I checked that's off. Anyway I solved with a workaround, very time consuming, I copied and pasted all tracks one by one in a new project, and re-done the settings. I could not figure it out, I just realized I cancelled all busses and re-added new busses, redirecting the tracks to the new busses, and it worked! But only on one project, I did the same on the other song I did and didn't work. Very Very strange, anyway I solved now thank you all.
  16. No BREVERB is not on my master bus but it has it's own bus that has as an output the master bus.
  17. I figured out the problem is on every bloody track! everything get wide! I tried to open a new project, add a new track and copy paste a track in the new project, re-adding the same plugins, the problem is solved! But if I try to export the entire tracks template from the corrupted project and import them in the new one the problem is still there! Very very strange! If I copy paste a guitar track pan to 0 (center) for instance in a new track in a new project, it sounds in the mid, in the corrupted project it sound like there is a copy on the left and a copy on the right, extremely wide. What that could be? I suspect there is some track setting or something at project level. I used to copy paste the tracks in the corrupted project, instead of creating a new one, this might have reproduced the issue in every track. I want to avoid to copy paste and do all settings again to a new project, even if that would solve the issue, it would take me ages! What could that be? Very strange!
  18. It is but I figure out it's on all tracks in my project. I copy paste the tracks I barely create new ones cause it's more handy, that might have reproduced the issue in all tracks. No Effects, i tried to open a new project, copy paste the guitar riff in a new track in the new project, loading the same guitar amp plugin, the issue is not present. So must be some track settings, the busses have no effects!
  19. Hi guys! Is there a way to export individual tracks from a project, in order to import them in another project but maintaining the loaded plugins, maintaining the same panning settings and effects?
  20. Hi there I'm having a very very strange issue with my Cakewalk projects Basically I have 2 projects, in one of these everything sounds completely fine, on the other project the Every track sounds incredibly WIDE, meaning they are not centered. You can hear the difference here I exported the 2 drums tracks just as an example but for any other track is the same issue even with guitars: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1F5mxhDq0mKMg1kVraYVcbdMZ2-1bWnJA/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mKaCWNQ9wMt6yJv6n0tH280royqYP4Tp/view?usp=sharing Consider I did a test just exporting the drums bus in the project where everything sounds OK, then I imported them in a new stereo track on the other project where everything sounds wide, and the issue is the same!!! Even though I added a new track with an imported file! It looks like there is a stereo widener all over the project!!! What's going on? Anyone aware of any setting in cakewalk that could widen averything?
  21. Consider I’m quite a newbie. If I understood well, the phase issue is when everything is too wide right? Apart from this issue one of the side parts coming from the headphones or left right speakers, is delayed compared to the other side. So is not a matter of performance correct? It’s something in the plugins or settings that is somehow delaying everything correct? so what this has to do with the bpm sorry? I’m just getting more and more confused honestly the drums is programmed midi drums, and the drum track by itself sounds ok, no issue, but together with the mix is delayed only on one side , left, of the headphones. Is there a way to split the entire track in stereo? In order to see the two waves, left and right, if they are aligned or not? I want to see this with my eyes, I cannot hear it.
  22. Thanks for the tips! Do you agree with this guy on my mix? Here's the track would you give a listen? Thanks https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cHksDmh6R7iRNWw2RIaCwfCXdzETeWa0/view?usp=sharing
