    Sonar 7 studio

Not exactly true. I didn't have a SSO but they were able to locate my licenses and email me the list of them. And I STILL don't have an SSO

    Sonar 7 studio

Yeah, email support. I did the same adventure - no one is getting those password request e-mails because the email system is turned off, I guess. Either you set up the account when it was possible, or you are eternally borked. If you email support AND you had a license properly registered before they can send a list of your license keys. They did that for me. The good news is that Cakewalk by Bandlab has a fantastic deal on the latest iteration of Cakewalk - It's practically free. No, wait... It IS free! The only thing you lose is your bundled plug ins from Sonar 7.
  3. I've been wrapping my ahead once again about the short lifespan and more or less planned obsolescence in the small computer world. When I commented to a friend that I use a pair of Delta 1010s (which I did exclusively until recently) he acted like I am sending letters on papyrus scrolls instead of e-mailing, and the card is slowly going obsolete just because it gets harder and harder to find a PeeCee that will even have the old style PCI slot...at this point you have to build them. So, what was a very expensive interface just a few years ago is on the tipping point of just being archaic junque. And there is not a DAMN thing to complain about the card and breakout box itself - extremely low latency and uncolored sound from the signal chain. The Mac world is frankly as bad or worse...a new OS version almost always removes functionality that the old one has, and the "improvements" have not been IMHO. Someday, CbB will probably do something that will mean I'll either be dragged from the Win 7 world or be frozen forever on what the last Win 7 compatible version is. And there I will remain. I've been chewing on this as I am at a crossroads as whether to add a UA PCIe card for their LA-2A plugin - or just put a WA-2A in the rack. The big thing is that in 10 years, the WA-2A will still have value, and I can't even be sure that PCIe card will still even have any functionality, so I am really leaning that way.

    Audio Settings

To fix "Missing Outputs" , go up to Devices and check the boxes (enable) those that you want to use. If they aren't there, go into the project and reconfigure your tracks and busses for reality. I haven't read a lot of complimentary things about ASIO4ALL.
  5. If you didn't get a SSO, you are borked to get into password protected side. I just went through that adventure.
  6. In your preferences, second from the the top of the list, is a Driver selection section. Look in there. If you are just using an on board sound card, it may not have an ASIO driver so you'll need to switch to WASAPI or something else. The different driver settings have different latency (and stability) characteristics. A quick scan of the internets reveals that MAYBE the Helix has ASIO. In that case, you need to select the appropriate interface in the Devices section (Very top section). ASIO is exclusive to ONE interface, so you'd need to deselect the onboard card and select the Helix (or use WASAPI)
  7. 186,000 miles per second. It's not just a good idea - It's the law. Every network hop adds n milliseconds as well. Latency isn't the same thing as bandwidth. A "fast" connection may have a ton of bandwidth to serve up 1080p netflix but you dont know how much buffering is happening to feed that stream. it could take 5 seconds to deliver the stream from source and you'd never notice . An extreme case- an old saying Oklahoma is for for data transfer speeds, nothing beats a Ford F-150 with a bed full of hard drives driving through Oklahoma, but latency sucks. Bandwidth is how much you can move - latency is how fast you can get there. a mere 200 milliseconds total latency between two players means SOMEONE will be 1/4 second off. Some people believe that quantum computing will ultimately solve for network latency. And when I was a kid they promised us jetpacks.
  8. i would like two new knobs added for analog audio tracks when used for live tracking artists, musicians and bass players....one for "Talent" and the other with a low-pass filter for "Being a D*ck" To be able to increase talent and independently make someone less of a d*ck would be a huge improvement. Would be ok as a VST plugin, too.
  9. LOL @ CBD...I call it that too! The W button will enable Write Automation on that track or buss. Turn it on, tweak whatever control you want to automate during playback. From there you can edit the automation lane with the pencil tool or whatever. The R button next to it (enabled in the above picture)) turns on Automation Read. Remember to turn Automation Write off as soon as you are done actively working with it, or you'll be scratching your head later with why your tracks are behaving weird.
  10. Just noticed today . If a Red box shows up around a given control, write automation enable is on for that knob. A last visual clue to save you from yourself...
  11. There is a hack that involves editing the driver file. I haven't done it and some folks report success and others struggle. http://forum.cakewalk.com/How-to-use-V700-win-8-driver-in-win-10-also-applies-to-some-other-Roland-drivers-m3206046.aspx The lack of a driver for Windows 10 is the primary reason this particular DAW will perpetually be on Win 7. The fact that Roland never updated the driver and therefore basically obsoleted what was a top tier pro piece of gear is the main reason that I invite them to kiss my pucker.
  12. Paolo: I find your post culturally insensitive and in poor taste, and therefore approve.
  13. We use AKG 701s, courtesy of Amazon.
  14. Blue Swede - Hooked on a Feeling BEST SONG INTRO EVER!!
  15. There is a Rude Mute in the mixing portion of the control panel that will globally mute and unmute.
  16. Just a bit more - it turns out his laptop was built to support Intel Optane, but that slot is not populated. So the slot is there, it's just a drive and a screw to boost the disk throughput and drop disk latency firmly down into the "Silly fast" range. Great chat, BTW!
  17. I figured it out. On a hunch I turned off AERO mode and reverted the display to Classic Windows default and Control bar functionality returned. In case anyone ever hits this in the future
  18. Windows 7 32 or 64 bit? Never mind...now I read the whole sentence... One from the vaults: http://forum.cakewalk.com/VSTSCANEXE-crashes-SOLVED-m3017586.aspx
  19. Do they emulate musicians too, or just bass players?
