  1. I don't know how to react to that.
  2. Country Joe and the Fish: "The Fish Cheer/The Feeling Like Im Fixin' to Die Rag" I think the association is obvious...
  3. Let's get a few more details: Did you check the master buss to make sure it is up at Unity (0dB)? For the given track, when played do you see the VUE meters move, if so, which ones? What is the name of the Output on that track? What driver mode are you using? Did you confirm your I/O devices in Preferences? What sort of I/O device(s) are you using?
  4. From Control Panel >Administrative Tools> Services you can see what all is running, filter out the misrosoft stuff, then kill any services you don't need, as well as seeing the associated performance with each service. From a Windows command prompt you can run "msconfig" and see what stuff actually loads on a system restart. You can kill or disable anything there that is stealing your CPU cycles and RAM without benefit.
  5. OK - since you have the rack unit, are both lights on the front (USB and Console) glowing steady or is one blinking?
  6. The Rolling Stones - Far Away Eyes (Rocks = Stones)
  7. Yup- If you change the record preference from Overwrite you can do that too... Oh, and I am not kidding about remembering to turn it back off when you're done...
  8. That's called punching. Yes, it's supported and smooth like buttah MAke sure your recording preferences are set to overwrite Select and set your in and out points click the handy "Set Punch points to selection" in the control bar widget. THis will enable the punch as well. Go to town and fix whatever. The offending section will be removed when you hit record, but record enable will toggle on when you hit the IN patch point. I'll usually "Roll in" a few measures before the punch point. The most important thing is to turn it back off when you are done, lest you recreate my favorite "WTF??!!" moment...
  9. "Valley Girl" - Frank Zappa (w/ Moon Unit Zappa)
  10. David's answer is more complete. an Audio line out of the piano into your interface in addition to the midi gets you the tone the keyboard is actually putting out, independent of any Soft Synth. In that case you don't STRICTLY need midi at all (but you'd be a fool not to record it for later use and tuning of the track). This is assuming your keyboard has a Line Out, of course. My Craptacular M-Audio Keystation does not. So sending it through a VST synth is the only real way to use it. Im going through that right now on a couple tracks. I don't like the patch the piano player used on the original recording (which wasn't done on the M-Audio), so I m now pumping same midi data through a synth to switch it over to the instruments that are better voiced for the tracks. In this case I'll eventually pitch the original Audio Track and replace it with a midi generated one. Other tracks, same project, the original audio from the old XV-88 (not the M-Audio) is just fine. I go the extra step of micing the room as well as the line out for big piano parts as we have a really nice sounding room - blending the Line and room tracks to one buss in post.
  11. I just *needed* an upgrade in the Large diaphragm mic department. (Went with the Rode K2- very nice for the price) and an sE Reflextion Pro for same. I also just paid my taxes (even though it isn't due to July, best to get that stuff out of the way). So the "Want" budget is severly depleted.
  12. Want it, don't need it ;-> I wouldn't cry if one landed in my lap but otherwise...
  13. MMMMMmmmm....Alembic. Damnit! I forgot about the F-2B. /me shields eyes while muttering "idontneeditidontneeditidontneedit" Somewhere around here is my old DI- a one off thing a friend whipped up (He was the guitar tech at Bartolini and built a few offboard boxes of his own design) that is really sweet, Basically a Bartolini single channel version of the F-2B....with three parallel output so you can drive a stage monitor, go to the PA, and have a tuner all in parallel with super low noise floor.
  14. Is it a Piano or a synthesizer? If it is just a piano you can use it as a controller as you are. Use a soft synth in CbB. You will need 2 tracks, one midi, one audio, before you hear anything.. Midi track has input from Midi on appropriate channel or Omni, Output to the soft synth. Audio Track has input from the soft synth, output to whatever buss it is supposed to land on. If it IS a synthesizer or workstation, modern ones have some sort of VST interface so you can drive them just like a VST soft synth within CbB.
  15. one more from SCOTS just because ... Mary Huff: I LOVE YOU!
  16. "Camel Walk" - Southern Culture on the Skids In honor of The Kudzu Ranch - The Ultimate "Home Studio" and of course the Lovely and Talented Mary Huff
  17. Less volume generally speaking but moreover the amp will "break up" (distort) at lower volume levels (generally speaking). There is more to it than that, like what sort of Amp it is (class A etc) and what sort of transformer was used in the amp. My beloved Bassman 10 has one of those ultra-linear late seventies transformers and refuses to distort - which has frustrated a few guitar players who have borrowed it - but it is awesome for *my* bass tone which is pretty clean and piano-esqe. There is also a whole thing about "Tube watts" vs "Solid state watts". Despite an arsenal of olde tube amps here, hearing tube amp aficionados argue about the merits of tube amps makes me want to either drive an icepick through my eye or set my hair on fire to distract myself from the conversation. My two cents is that for Bass I do want a Tube preamp stage for the tone, don't really care about a Tube power amp stage because I personally am trying to avoid distortion....well, except for Social Distortion.
  18. It is also highly unusual for a company to acquire a premium DAW suite and release it as "Free" software in the first place. In fact, I've never heard of such a thing. Cakewalk itself is "Discontinued by the manufacturer" The hack is known and could be packaged as an installer easily. Just edit the file, the submit the resulting package to Microsoft for the signaturing process, which can point right back to the SSL cert that Bandlab already has. Add the download for the VS-700 installer(s) to the downloads section same as Theme editor etc. Maybe do the same for the VS-100, although that driver is currently still available from Roland. Would be a great goodwill gesture by Bandlab for a specific subset of the community that are pretty serious about the platform and the craft. (If you've ever eaten at a Sonic, you've used a third party but signed driver for the sound to/from the car kiosks to the order desk...what I described was literally all that was needed to run a specific sound card on a manufacturer unsupportted OS, in that case Server 2016). Driver signaturing is a *very* good thing from a security standpoint. If nothing else, it's more data points to collect and sell to console and controller manufacturers and their respective marketing departments...
  19. "The Temples of Syrinx" - Rush "We are the Priests..."
  20. Sure it can. Bandlab already has a certificate authority in place for the SSL used in the application.
  21. THAT is very good to know! How about a CbB supported, signed driver for Win10? BTW - I can confirm, at least on Win 7, the EA upgrade worked and VS-700C and VS-700R are all present and accounted for. Now running 2020.04 build 151
  22. My heart goes out to you - I haven't BUT loss of the VS-700C would cause me to weep bitter tears of rage and frustration while plotting my terrible retribution. So it is best for all concerned that I stay on Win 7. CbB is clearly not testing functionality against VS-700C unless they are doing the driver hack also and I sorta doubt they bothered. Are you using it with the VS-700R or as a standalone controller? I have not installed the early access version but I will while there is an uninstaller available and report back if my kit still works...
