  1. Is there some way to permanently disable or uninstall the offending device? To me the notification are useful for devices I actually use which all seem to keep working flawlessly. The one I get that notification for is the one associated with my AMD RX 580's HDMI output which isn't used by Cakewalk or anything else. All my attempts to disable and uninstall it fail. It comes right back.

    Microsoft Edge

Thanks, that's true. I remember it. Insert "for all practical purposes" between "Edge is" and "a part of Windows..." in my statement.

    Microsoft Edge

I don't have a dog in this fight, but FWIW, I think that some people are getting their shorts in a bind for no good reason. We have bigger fish to fry. I sympathize because I generally feel the same way. However, Edge is a part of Windows 10 the way the Apple browser is a part of all Apple OS's. And, some kind of web access functionality is required to monitor for and install updates. Using Edge on Windows 10 systems seems like a no brainer IMHO because it's the most likely to work flawlessly with W10 on a continual basis. I've always avoided Windows browsers and use Firefox, their VPN and duckduckgo. I hate being spied on. However, I'm loving the great photos that pop up each time I W10 starts up and use Edge to download the ones I really like. I've also developed an affinity for the Edge Collections button for keeping track and organizing the dozens of tabs I seem unable to close.🙄 Now I use two browsers, Firefox for browsing trying to keep the number tabs to a dozen and Edge for paging through my collections.

    Help Tab

That old Platinum documentation is becoming less and less relevant as CbB continues to evolve and improve. The online documentation is the most up to date. The downloadable PDF lags behind and has a version number at the bottom of page 2 to indicate when it was last updated.
  5. I suggest that you submit it to Cakewalk either using the Feedback Loop Forum or the problem reporting email address which I don't remember. I'm guessing the problem is with Spectral Layers, but have no way of knowing. FwIW, Cakewalk was an early adopter of ARA and second to only S1 in implementing ARA access to Melodyne. Cakewalk has always worked closely with Microsoft and, TMK, still one of the very best integrated DAWs with Microsoft, probably second to S1 again. Before S1 Cakewalk was definitely the leader.
  6. Ok, I quickly opened Melodyne for a track, used the pitch tool to correct the pitch of a note, typed Ctrl-Z and the correction was canceled. My problems with Melodyne, the only Region FX I use, is keeping track of where the focus is. I try to stay in Melodyne but end up leaving to look at something else and forgetting where I am. I also checked to verify that the Melodyne Region FX Help button opens Cakewalk specific help. It does. See screenshot.
  7. Could a theme glitch be causing this problem? If yes, any suggestions?
  8. What happens if you stop playback, bounce, then resume playback?
  9. Sorry. No I was responding to you and somehow got the idea you were asking about Melodyne. I'm not familiar with Spectral Layers but if their documentation is on par with Melodyne's, my response might still be applicable. I've also never used the give all keystrokes to plugin functionality. I'll have to try that. I'm accustomed to the keystrokes going to the application with the focus.
  10. Click the Help button in the Melodyne view and there Cakewalk specific online help section will open, I think. If it just opens the general help section, look around on the left near the top and pick Cakewalk as your DAW.
  11. See GIF. I added an Arpeggiator clip effect to the MIDI clip in an Instrument Track, then bounced the clip to clips which worked fine. Then I undid the bounce and bounced it again. The 2nd time only a portion of the clip was affected by the Arpeggiator. This is a small project that I'm using to get familiar with working in MIDI. So this could be operator error, or the problem could have gone on for a while without being noticed. If needed I can send the project file. It's small with no audio.
  12. Post moved to Feadback Loop. Sorry, thought it might be related to early release version.
  13. See GIF. The track expand drag tool seems to be more difficult to use and I believe that it's a new problem with this version but haven't verified by rolling back. When I try to drag down to expose more tracks controls getting the tool to pop up seems more difficult and then once I start dragging it seems very likely to drop out while I'm holding down left click.
  14. Wow, what a thorough response (or more accurately tutorial). Thank you very much. I was recalling from the distant past when there were separate MIDI and Synth tracks. I think at some point the Make Instrument Track option came along. It looks like the option to insert a Soft Synth track without a MIDI track is gone, but that 's not a problem. As you pointed out, the Split Instrument Track option separates the Synth and MIDI tracks. In hind site, all I needed to do was turn the page to 856. Given that I'd been stewing over that problem for quite a while basically using the search box and entering different phrases, it's disappointing that I didn't turn the page.
  15. Have Synth Tracks been eliminated? I tried to add a Synth Track which exist according to the 26.11.00. See screenshot below. But I don't see a "Insert Synth Track" option on the Track Pane dropdown menu. See gif below. I wanted separate MIDI and Synth Tracks so that I could hopefully record the arpeggiated MIDI output so that I could better understand and edit MIDI track arpeggiator patterns.
  16. Thanks. Is there a pattern editor for the ARP files that would allow editing existing files or creating new ones? I know where the patterns are stored and some pattern names (Ebm9) explain the pattern but most (like ElGtr 07) don't. Also the pattern that many ARPs play depends on the number of keys in the chord and to me they are unpredictable. Auditioning each one seems to be the only way to determine what they will do.
  17. Do arpeggiator preset names (1a, 1-Note 3c, etc.) mean anything? The names don't seem to indicate much of anything about the pattern. Also how are they created or edited? I looked at one with Notepad which couldn't display many of the characters in the file. Is the arpeggiator intended to work only with triads? The patterns they play varies depending on the number of keys depressed but not necessarily in any specific ways. Any information or guidance appreciated.

    How to do this?

Thanks again. I hope to get around to those additional distractions, but for right now, my distraction bin is full.
  19. I didn't know that Thanks.
  20. I've disabled and uninstalled mine for my $X 580 HDMI Audio and it returns on every reboot. I can't seem to get rid of it. I've looked in the Radeon software and can't find a way there either. Any suggestions?

    How to do this?

Ok, I did that and got carried away and completely distracted. I bought issue #261 for $3.99 which has a really dense article on music theory that I'm going to try to work through plus about 12GB of downloads including about 30 instruments and 55 effects, plus additional instruments and effects in the getting started folders. I only installed the pitch shifter plugin you mentioned and a harmony instrument. I'll probably install more for completing the music theory tutorial. Thanks, I think. 🤔
  22. If measures were removed, that should be obvious in the waveform. Show take lanes and it may show the original clip as take 1 and the melodyne edited clip as take 2. I say "may" because it doesn't seem to always seem to happen and I haven't dug in to find the reason. Also if you open the audio folder and change select Name, Length, Bit rate, Size, Date last saved, Date modified and Type Columns for display, you'll probably be able to better understand what melodyne is doing. Again, I haven't completely verified this, but, AFAIK, there will be at least 3 versions of the clip you edited: The version you recorded, the version Melodyne "imported/created" and the version Melodyne "rendered." The first two (recorded & imported) should be identical. I use quotation marks for the Melodyne clip descriptions because I don't know what they are called in Cakewalk and Melodyne documentation. Also if you select a portion of a clip for Melodyne editing, two or three clips will be created by rendering. But still if you look at and play the before and after clips you should be able to understand what happened. I don't think Melodyne is "wonky." Hopefully you don't edit clips that are currently "Melodyne Region Effect" before they are closed or rendered. Not sure what would happen if you did. If you removed measures in Melodyne and you want to close the gap, move the portion of the clip after the measures that were removed to the left to line up with the measure where you want them to play. Not sure what the problem is here. As long as your computer can handle it, having multiple instances of Melodyne region FX is not a problem unless they are on the same clip if that's even possible. You just need to render or close any Melodyne region FX before you edit a clip containing a region FX. I'm not saying that can't be done. I'm saying it's probably not a good idea.
  23. @tonemangler thanks for the clarification and insights.
