  1. An interesting read! FWIW I actually think both you guys have valid points. I am not a notation guy, in fact over the many years I've owned and used Sonar/Cakewalk I can't even think of a time when I've opened up Staff View! Over the journey I have seen a lot of forum posts/requests from users to 'fix' the Staff View. I don't even know exactly what's wrong with it, or what it's not capable of that users want, but from what I read it sounds like a few tweaks would get it in the ball park for many. If that were to happen and it was then as usable for the Orchestral or Jazz students, as the others, then I agree, I think it's a great opportunity to capitalize on the music student market across all styles. That being said, it looks like the required tweaks either aren't that easy, or they are a low priority in a big list of other enhancements/fixes/features, which Bandlab/Cakewalk sees as more important to the brand moving forward.
  2. I just tried this. I took a midi drum groove, selected 'Convert Midi To Step Sequencer' then looped a portion of it and it worked fine, the step sequencer returned to the start of the loop and cycled with the loop. In your example above, are you saying you created the clip yourself then groove clip looped it ?
  3. As far as I know you get the Cakewalk Studio Instruments drum kit not Session Drummer.
  4. No. The last few times I remember one was the Waves Abbey Road Redd desk plugin, and a few days ago it happened and it was Izotope Neutron 3. OK, thanks.
  5. "Closing a 3rd party plug-in UI can crash the application by sending WM_QUIT message" Hi Noel, just wondering whether this fix may address the unexpected occasional issue I see where I'm adjusting a parameter on a 3rd party plugin and Cakewalk just closes and disappears. No warnings, errors, nothing, it just closes. I know your bug fix is for the closing of a 3rd party plug-in, not changing the UI, but I'm hoping it may relate to the rare but scary condition I sometimes encounter. Cheers.
  6. Out of curiosity, if you up the buffers on your sound card driver does it go away or get better?
  7. Not sure, all good here after update. Did the rollback work?
  8. I used to get like a 'zipper' sound when using the mouse to scroll around in a project. If that's the sound you're hearing then yes, I know what you're talking about. It was with my old PC and sometime ago now, and like you, I tried to get to the bottom of it. From memory, I think it was driver related, however I cant remember exactly. Sorry I cant be more specific, but I have seen (heard) this and it wasn't plugin related in my case. I'd be making sure all your drivers are up to date, including your mouse, as a starting point.
  9. I think there's a fix for this in the latest release that just came out.
  10. I know what you mean, there are a ton of tabs, options and expandable/collapsable panes. At first it looks extremely complex! If you collapse the Inspector on the left and the Synth Rack/Browser on the right, then delete un-needed modules from the control bar at the top, you can actually have it looking like quite a basic DAW, with just your tracks and busses, and maybe a not so daunting starting point. It is very customizable.
  11. Or if there is no hidden data, and you just want the project to stop at the end, select 'Stop at Project End' in the Options Tab above the tracks.
  12. If you click on the dropdown arrow next to where it says 'Workspaces', is 'None' ticked? If so it's working properly. The word 'Workspaces' in that box is just a heading. As long as 'None' is ticked under that, it shouldn't be doing anything.
  13. I've only recently started playing around with the Arranger, but I havent seen the behaviour you're describing. After I created my Arranger sections, I double clicked on each one (over in the Arranger Tab) and then typed their new name in then hit 'Enter'. Are you saying that doesnt work for you? What about if up on the timeline you right-click the section with your mouse and select 'Rename'? Will that let you rename the sections? I'm not sure what you mean about keyboard shortcuts. As for the weird overlapping stuff you're seeing, I've not had that happen either.
  14. Good timing of this post, I just played around with the Arranger Track for the first time yesterday and I too thought that maybe a double click would automatically add an arranger section to the selected clip. What you need to do however, is click on the clip, which highlights the range on the timeline, then right-click on the timeline and select 'Create Section from Selection'. That will make your section exactly that of the selected clip.
  15. On the right of the time line is a plus and minus button.Click the plus then add MBT ruler.
  16. A timely post! Last week, for the first time ever, I imported a video file into cbb. I was asked to record a bass track to it as part of an ISO music project. I wondered why I couldn't slide the video clip along the timeline a bit to allow me more time between hitting record and starting to play. Some good information here, thanks Noel for explaining some of the limitations you guys are up against. Let's hope there's a possibility of a workaround sometime that would allow one or two basic video functions to be added.
  17. Firstly, there's no more weird characters on my Izotope Neutron track names anymore - thanks! Secondly, there appears to be some weird mouse behaviour using the new Pro Channel top icons. I can hover over any of those ie collapse, show/hide arranger, docking options, etc and the hover text will randomly be that of another option. For example I hover over the 'Show/Hide Pro Channel' icon and the text may say 'Undock'. Sometimes it may say 'Docking Options' or sometimes it correctly says 'Show/Hide Pro Channel'. Anyone else seeing this?
  18. I just had this happen to me yesterday also. The project just shut down and vanished as I was scrolling through presets (whilst playing the project.) I have Ozone 8 and Neutron 2 both on the project, but I can't remember which one I was using at the time. I've tried to replicate it today with either plugin but no luck.
  19. 4.2.4 is now out. I havent updated and used it yet but I've been notified that it is available.
  20. Open the clip FX rack (right click on the clip and select) then right click on the FX rack and make sure "Bypass FX Rack" isnt checked.
  21. One easier way I can think of is to get the Mute tool and just mute the sections of the top clip. Will be quicker than trying to split and delete the sections of the clips.
  22. You know it's a big publication when the table of contents goes for 48 pages!! Awesome work, this is great. Thanks to everyone involved.
