Cross-posting because I didn't know which forum was the right one...
I recently purchased a firewire soundcard from Steinberg/Yamaha, the MR 816 csx. Why, you may ask? Well, because it was cheap at $40 or so... Still it seems to be a fairly good sound card with decent preamps.
As far as I can tell, it works very well as an audio interface to cakewalk, but I also wanted to make use of the DSP effects in the soundcard (a reverb and a channelstrip).
However, when I try to use these in Cakewalk, e.g. like this:
Cakewalk crashes;
Any ideas on what is up? Anything I can try out to fix?
Thanks!

Hello!

my system crashes:
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start looking?
I have the latest update of Cakewalk as well as the drivers for MR 816, and to the firewire card.
THANKS!

Yes, quite significantly (but then I'm already in bad shape when it comes to CPU...). I guess it costs a bit with all the additional audio outputs?

Answering myself: track templates to the rescue

Hi!
I have limited CPU on my computer and I need to optimize.
I use ezdrummer2 and I have a template set up with multiple outputs from ezdrummer. It's nice, obviously, to be able to handle each drum (ish) in a separate channel, and use different effects on each as I see fit. But... this requires a significant amount of CPU, compared to the "normal" approach of assigning the entire drumkit to a stereo channel.
What I would like to do, is to route ezdrummer to a stereo channel when I work with recordings (during the jamming/prototype stage...), and then to activate multiple outputs when things are nearing completion (because by then I can freeze tracks and offload the CPU enough to give room for a complete drumset).
I have not found a straight forward way to do this, but I would be very grateful for suggestions!
Thanks!

Yes, workspace it was. I'm not sure why, but when I create custome workspace it does not play well with two monitors. Thanks people!

OK. Do you remeber the topic? Can't seem to find it.

Hi!
Since a few months back I have a problem with my 2-screen setup. I don't know if it changed when I installed a new release, or if it was something stupid I did.
Before, whenever I started a project, it would place all the windows exactly like they were placed when I saved/quit last time, In my case, I always keep the console undocked, and placed in full screen on my second monitor.
Now, what happens when a start a project, is that the console begins to display on the second monitor for a second or two, then disappears and docks at the bottom of monitor one (in hidden mode).
Does anyone have any idea what I could do to fix?
Btw, same thing happens with templates. In other words: if I save a template with the console undocked and displayed on monitor two, it will still be docked and hidden if I create a new project with that template.
Thanks in advance!

@scottfa I'm not sure how I could even configure the csx as anything but csx... can you elaborate a little bit?
