  1. I jumped for joy when I read they fixed the issue that I have always had with PA plugins:

VST3: Fixed issue with adapting to host knob mode, and now prioritizing linear

That used to drive me nuts

  2. The VoxBox is OK. I didn't find it as useful as I thought it would be (I've had it for a few years now). I will tell you that if there is any way to get the Helios Type 69 you should do it. It's freakin' amazing!!! As a Unison pre I just keep finding new uses for it. I prefer it sonically to their Neve 1073 and even the SSL. A miked amp with a decent mic through the Helios is, well, freakin' amazing!!!

What effect plugins are worth more than $100 to you, that a comperable product does not exist for the $30 sale price from the likes of Waves or Izotope?

I can think of two companies that make plugins worth the high price: UAD and FabFilter.

  4. Although they are CPU intensive, I still use these plugins every day. No, I can't splash TG12345 across 30 tracks or run 10 versions of TG Matering but I still can use all of them with great frequency. The Plates and  Chambers are wonderful verbs and my kick and snare always have TG12345. What that plugin does for drums is magic.

  5. I just did a quick test and they seem to hold their assignments. The CPU hit is way less with the Lite version but it's still pretty hungry. I can't see using this over a ton of tracks (it's resource use makes that unfeasible) but I just did a quick 10-track drum mix using it and it worked pretty well.

  6. I was hoping they would address the horrible CPU usage of CLA MixHub but, alas. Still as soon as the EQs are engaged, Kablamm! Maybe next one.

Edit: I just checked the release notes and they have included a MixHub Lite which lessens the CPU hit by about 25-30 %.

    Yeah, Melda are cool.

I hate the fact I have to buy 2 of everything with Waves.

I have all my Waves plugins and others authorized to a flash drive and have my Waves plugins, which is a ton, and others installed on both of my studio computers. I just move the flash drive to the computer I'm using, either my main control room rig or the laptop.  No problems.
