Not at all. While it does control dynamics, it's nothing like a compressor emulation.
I used to have a whole chain worked out for my live drum tracks, using Boz' Gatey Watey, elysia mpressor, etc.
Then I got MDrumLeveler in one of my Melda bundles and....whoa. It replaced all of the track-level dynamics processing I had been using. It takes care of everything but EQ.
If you're mixing live drums, run, don't walk. Unequivocal recommendation from this drummer.
Makes it so easy that it almost takes the fun out of it.?
Have you used it a single time after getting MDrumStrip? ?
For those that don't have complete or want future bundle upgrades certainly worth looking at for the price.

I understand that they "assign" feelings to chords, but you can find that information online.
I understand they allow you to "loop" like a midi by drag and drop chords in any order you want.
You can drag and drop chords into your DAW as a MIDI clip.
Pick a key, and it'll show you all the combinations for chords for that key.
A bunch of minor things to do with chords and things you can do in your DAW anyhow, like playing the chords in a sequencer.
Edit: Establish your musical key and scale with audio detection as well as MIDI detection. [ I've got Melodyne Studio for that, so for me it's not needed. ]
With the script plugin, you can drag and drop chords as clips and find chords for whatever key you want.
With the script plugin, you can play the chords in the script plugin without dropping them into the track.
The script plugin won't have the "emotions" part, but you can find that information online.
Anything doing with playing the chords can be done in the DAW already.
The script plugin doesn't come with the bloat-ware (1 gigabyte of instruments).
The script plugin isn't as pretty as the Scaler 2, but with the script you can edit that source code to make it how you want it.
Edit:
There's a few new things I notice now... But I've got plugins that can do the things they added to Scaler 2 since I last demoed it.
It is fine if it isn't a program for you , but I still think your view of what it does is limited compared to what it actually does.
Reading your post all I can envision is owning a guitar and thinking I don't need a musician to make music with it because I already have the instrument that is capable of chords, scales, etc.
That workflow sounds dreadful. This program costs $35, not $800.

Personally, I don't use it. I can find any chord progression online via Google if needed.
Unless you want the 1gb of instruments it comes with (which I don't), I think it's a waste of money.
Reaper has a script that basically does the same thing for free.
Respectfully I think you have a limited understanding of what scaler 2 is capable of if you are just thinking about it in terms of grabbing a chord progression from Google and some Reaper script.

@PavlovsCat the whole point of Scaler is for those who don't or can't be bothered to get some basic theory under their fingers.
Personally I have had it since version 1, I now have had 2 since it came out. Have I ever actually used it to create a track no, not one. Barely even spent any time trying. Will I get 3 when it inevitable gets released, it is 2.9 now, doubtfully.
If you want expand your musical range @husker and be more adventurous with your scales and or chord progressions, it will help. But and it is quite a big but it is tool, a tool with quite a steep learning curve. You will need to spend some considerable time learning it to get the best out of it.
I wouldn't say the "whole point" of the program is for those who even lack basic theory.
If you watch some advanced videos on it can bring advanced chord substitutions and odd chords and voicings to people that have played music for decades but never went down those paths.
I've played guitar for 3 decades and it gives me ideas I never would have thought of or used. Some of that could be attributed to keyboard layouts but none the less still a valuable tool for a non beginner too.

If it was me I would just copy over the .db file and then perhaps the relevant files/folders from Documents and/or Appdata where ever the various TONEX settings are kept, shouldn't/wouldn't take much to figure it out, if at all possible, certainly not 6 hours. To get all my packs across would likely take about 10/20 seconds and my collection is quite extensive, 250+ Full 3rd party packs and that's without the Signature Packs and other Packs purchased via IK.
I certainly wouldn't be spending anything like 6hours, you have to do it once, as you are building your collection and that's spread out over time as you go, but to do it again all in one go, no thanks, there are much easier ways to accomplish that, and far better ways to spend your time
Well I attempted some sort of approximation of this the first time and it absolutely didn't work for me and thus had to recreate it manually. I also may have a different folder and preset structure that has probably around 100 folders for organizing things. Those were not coming over with the copy and paste as far as I could tell.
Need IKM to provide real documentation on how it could be done. Seems odd that the "backup" and restore can't be done cross machine or at least not in a comprehensive way easily.

Nah, I never liked Peter nor IK.
It’s like talking to a wall, it’s been like that forever.
And talking to someone who has the upper hand (for the wrong reasons) and stubborn never leads anywhere, just lost time.
I don’t have the time for some hating or the patience for IK OR ANY company to fix their ****.
Even Softube without me asking for it fixed Amo Room, by practically rewriting the whole thing… those guys are pros.
Just raised my voice to see where IK is at, same hole…
And yet Softube's amps are not even close to the same feel/sound realism of Tonex.

There is also a backup and restore function for that database in TONEX itself.
How do we use this to transfer the database (and folder structure) to another install of TONEX? It literally took me 6 hours worth of work importing paid packs, downloading tonenet stuff I liked, and then creating the folder structures to "mirror" another computer I use. There has to be an easy way to do this.

My memory is not what it was 2 years ago, but in the back of my mind, I recalled your being active/helpful with TONEX discussions in the forum early on. Glad you finally got the Metal Gems Collection.
Not sure if this is relevant, but yesterday at some point, somewhere I clicked on "Restore All Purchases." I don't understand it fully, but several years ago I remember that as being a standard advice for IK products--advice for when IK products shown on the local computer didn't include everything it "should have" shown. Maybe it was in connection with possibly the Custom Shop.
I spent half my day yesterday hitting the restore all purchases button. lol
I tired this morning on yet another machine (but running the previous ".3" version and it worked without issue. Other two machines were on the latest .4 version

Will it also show up under My Products on the IKM website?
I did register it through the Product Manager but can't see it listed either there or on the website.
I've always found this odd but, no.
Same with ODS legends. They should send you an email confirming registration though.

I have no memory of actually downloading the collection. I do have memories of trying to find where they were hidden. I only have 127 total, but here's how I get to see Metal Gems Signature Collection (using TONEX CS Version 1.7.4):
-
TONEX - Home Tab
-
Left-hand column:
- Tone Model button selected
-
TONE MODEL BROWSER
- All Tone Models selected
-
OWNED COLLECTIONS
-
Signature heading expanded
- Metal Gems showing (it's my only collection)
-
NOTE: Selecting Metal Gems here:
- unselects All Tone Models
- removes the collection from the TONE MODEL LIST (Main Column)
- sets results to 0
-
Signature heading expanded
-
USER FOLDERS
- [I have not set up any User Folder]
- Filters button selected
- INSTRUMENT Owned Only slide switch = on
- NOTE: I only downloaded about 7 Free Models a few years ago, so I don't need to use the filters.
- TIER - Select the Premium to get rid of the Free ones from the TONE MODEL LIST in the main Column (under the Amp Header)
-
Left-hand column:
-
Main Column
-
TONE MODEL LIST
- List View Selected
-
List Column
- Date Added = Most Recent on Top
-
TONE MODEL LIST
I now have 127 total: 100 new Premium Models added today, 20 CS Premium Models, 7 Free Models.
If there is a way to have the list show Premium Models for specific owned collections, I haven't found it. I defer to others who use TONEX more than I do. It looks like my 7 downloads are from September/October 2022.
Thanks, yes I'm a very experienced TONEX user - bought in from the first few weeks of release. I finally got them all downloaded a few minutes ago but did not change the method by which this is done. Something was very wrong, took 20+ attempts, it was crazy.
I still think the current version is buggy, especially on the "tonenet" side. Takes way to long to connect to ToneNet load and scroll through thing on high end computers.

It’s a way to make users pay for upgrades that should be free and should have been released like two years ago. I have ditched Boz products despite loving some of them because I basically consider them abandonware. And if somebody intends starting a Windows/Mac discussion now, please just STFU, nobody cares it works fine on Windows.
I agree this type of update should have been free. But he is slow rolling updates to his products in a clear move to unify the look and modernize them therefore not exactly abandonware.
All apple users should expect that any software they purchase may not work with future OS updates. And should certainly expect that an update for support might be a long time coming or even never if they are not seeing the revenue exceeding the effort. That is part of buying into the ecosystem, risk.

Not sure this one has any real updates other than M1 native and A re-sizable UI update. (other than the basic UI aesthetic refresh)

Any idea how to cash them in? I saw the code: in my account, but it won't allow me to redeem.
That code isn't your own discount code, that is the code you give to others to get credit in your account if others use your code (and only as a first time buyer).
Also, even if you have credits in your account - as noted above they can't be used on into pricing offers.

I'm wondering how much overlap with voxducker
Different developers under the same house, but while they are marketed differently I'm guessing they cover a lot of the same ground.

Terrible program that phones home to try to auto install when you are not even using the product or services.

Larry is the man, no doubt, and things do tend to slow waaaaay down when he takes breaks but sometimes other people come up with stuff. Sometimes. ?
Without Larry there isn't enough new content to check this sub forum 20 times a day.
Us regulars would have to find a different section to add our commentaries in and without a deal to discuss we would be reverting to music or tools of creation discussions and where is the addiction in that?

The best way to keep it going is to use it as intended in a respectful way. Contribute, thank those who contribute in ways that help you, and have respect for those who continue to host it. Treat your fellow forum contributors (and heaven knows how many lurkers) with kindness and respect the forum rules about personal/political/religious attacks. If you're a user of Cakewalk by BandLab and/or SONAR or Sonar, visit the other forums on this site and help users with their issues (which is the overall purpose this site is supposed to serve). Beat not the dead horses.
In this forum we're allowed free rein to advocate for the purchase of other companies' products, even ones that compete with BandLab's. I don't know if that's something you'll find elsewhere.
If you want to thank the people that make it possible, I believe that @Jesse Jost is the BandLab employee who has the most to do with it, and then there are moderators. I'm not sure who all of the mods are, but @Wookiee in particular recently suffered a devastating personal loss and has continued to soldier on.
They would probably like to be told how much you appreciate the (unpaid in the case of the moderators) work they have done and continue to do to make it possible.
As for me, almost entirely thanks to this forum I've managed to assemble a vast assortment of industry powerhouse tools that far exceed my ability (and time) to make use of them. In my life and creative and professional pursuits, knowing that I have the best tools possible is freeing. If I see or hear something that I would like to incorporate into my own work, I know that the people who made it don't have any magic toys beyond what I have. Since I'm old enough to remember when one visit to a professional studio to make a 4 song demo cost as much as I've spent on my entire collection of music software, this is all like a dream world. If an experienced professional engineer were to sit down at my DAW computer, they might even be impressed, although they might notice the relative absence of Waves and UAD products.
So I thank my fellow forum participants for sharing what they know. Moreover, I've managed to avoid lasting beefs with anyone despite what I'm sure are divergent political views between me and multiple others. But political opinions are merely one aspect of what makes up a person, and I believe that the things people have in common should be emphasized.
Uhh for this part of the forum Larry is it, there would be little to see without his tireless efforts.
I appreciate lots of contributions, but Larry is the singular figure that does the leg work to discover and post content us others get the conversations going.

Very legit, they've been in business since the 1970s. I miss living close to NYC but many of the photo/video and music stores have closed anyway. 47th Street Photo was similar but went out of business in the 90s, B&H and Adorama, etc were smart and branched out quite successfuly. I think 42nd Street Photo is still in business. B&H is probably the only photo/video-focused store I'd buy music gear from, if any of the others even sell music gear. I miss the great NYC music stores like Manny's a lot too.
It was always fun to haggle in these stores as well. I hadn't been back to NYC in a while but decided to take my wife there a few years back since she had only been there once in her life. She wanted something in one of the electronics stores and said "that's a good price" and almost went to buy it for that but it was nice to find out that you can still haggle after I told her you don't buy anything in a NYC electronics shop for the tagged price
Sorry, this thread sent me down memory lane a bit.
Many of the little shops outside of B&H and Adorama are grey market dealers, and thus can haggle.
B&H will have set price limits on new photo gear in particular, but they are allowed to create bundles (i.e throw in a memory card, backpack, etc) on a high end camera purchase. But you will see that actual dealers can't take the list price down - all they can do is sweeten the pot unless there is a brand approved sale.
This isn't the case for other types of electronics but is common practice with pro photo equipment and thus why everyone other than grey market dealers have the exact same price.

This was a long time ago and was only looking at music gear. I really wanted to try out a synth I had my eye on and had seen in their catalog but when I got there nothing was on display. Probably things are different now. I ended up going to Sam Ash and Guitar center which was more the experience I was imagining in my head heheh.
Yeah, they have never been a "music store" they sell some music and A/V gear of course but hence the name Photo Video - that is the real niche. They have a warehouse for the other stuff they stock.

True it might be. I seem to only use it during the mixdown where I can have high latency. Need to try via tracking.
