I'm curious which ones you think are worse than the old offerings? Things like the Amek 9099 have some pretty cool features and have seen some critical acclaim, and the SSL J while sounding quite a bit different than the E or G always seems to be put in the "it sounds better" than the older SSL emulations.

I also would have preferred a GB related to upgrades of both of those as I use the MODO lineup but basically haven't used Syntronik at all. Your post is a good reality check. Wonder if I'll cave into temptation on this deal.

I think the issue is that without seeing these new deals the loyalty program suddenly feels a lot less like a perk for those that are buying enough to be a part of it. Asking a customer to spend $50 as the minimum entry fee (if they are at the $25, $50 or even $75 level) based on prior experience feels like we got priced out of the market a bit when the "forever 29" deal well...is sounding like a better deal even though some of us spent crazy amounts of money to hit a $75 tier.

I think it is an issue of timing. If you look at the deals we saw last week (if you factor in universal voucher codes), I don't see how anyone could possibly suggest there were not deals to be had (Amek 9099 + one of many other top shelf plugins for a combined $37 was frankly amazing). Of course if you spent $50 for the Amek using a $75 voucher less than 2 months ago...and spent $25 on Blackbox MS using a $75 voucher last month....like someone I know....it might not have felt like the best timing. I have no doubt the next deal is going to be amazing for new comers. However, those of us that have been purchasing in mass quantities over the last few years with the plugin boom, we might be in for some disappointment with too much overlap of what we already purchased.

I'm betting they are banking on their user base not already owning a bunch of NI and Izotope products (i.e. whever this bundle deal will be)....however they might be a little surprised at least from the followers of Larry's deals.... Same thing with the higher tier loyalty vouchers. Even if you hit a $75 voucher tier unless you ware willing to spend $50 out of pocket in an absolute best case scenario it is worthless.

I've been a big fan of PA over the past couple years and bought plugins from them basically every single month without fail. Agree on great sounding. CPU and RAM efficient (this is highly dependent on the plugin some certainly are not in that catergory). I'd actually argue this is an area that needs improvement on overall with a few exceptions. Compare them to Melda or Toneboosters for an eye opening experience. Bug Free - I thought so as well except for the update in March this year had really obvious problems (Upside down meters in some plugins for example0 Easy to install and Authorize, but knowing what you installed, if updates are available and how to uninstall fall well short of market leading.

Yep...after you subscribe to the forever $29 plan. Which ironiccaly they also say available from $129.99 so even people with $75 vouchers don't get a better deal which is crazy.

Exactly my thoughts. If they offer NI Komplete and RX Advanced in the new bundle along with some more PA plugins for right at $125, I might take advantage of it. Realistically though. I'm expecting a bunch of the Izotope Elements stuff that we have gotten free or dirt cheap dozens of times and perhpas a few NI Instruments. Hard to imagine a scenario where this works out better than the offers they just had for the top tier PA plugins for $31 with a $25 voucher (i.e. $37 for two of the best of what PA offers)

While I don't think there is some big conspiracy. The refresh requirement in practice is not necessary at all for those items the dev mentioned. Does the refresh report back usage stats for the period, I was under the impression it didn't. The refresh also doesn't force upgrade like a Win 10 install. Even an offline version could prompt a one time reminder to see if updates are available. And we all know the usage concept can phone home without a refresh since we get push notifications when a new update is available if we are connected to the internet. The devs are bright enough to know all of this. They simply choose to no longer offer a perpetual offline copy. As a lifetime updates buyer of a product that never needed this and didn't even an a connection to install and authorize it. It might be the only real step back I've see. Even though I update with each release, I also install on multiple machines and have backup drives as a computer reinstall would literally take 40hrs or so with all the installs and authorizations, etc. Those extra computers and backups become inoperable in 6 months...and out of over a thousand installs on these machines Cakewalk is the ONlY app that does that to me. Crazy when you put it in that context. Given it is a core app, all the more trouble some.

Home tests are close to worthless unless they test positive then there is a pretty good chance it is right. Neg tests are not reliable. If you are exposed to someone currently with COVID it seems the general guidance is you also quarantine for 10 days. Even if you don't think you have it, the point is you can give it to others. (as you note you can't get a real test between now and then so you really don't know). If you care about spreading it how you feel in terms of sickness/wellness really isn't the deciding factor.

I tried learning reaper as a backup daw but couldn't bond with the interface. Think I need to try it again with this one.. While my default theme in cakewalk isn't one like this. The look and layout seem familiar.
