I just copied the .dll to the VST folder and did a rescan.

I'm not worried I just wonder why Cake always defaults the compressor after the eq like it's their "suggestion" for some reason I don't know about.
-
Pretty new to band lab but have used every version of Cake since 4. I was using Platinum for a few years and since it was getting glitchy with my newly updated Melodyne, I decided to jump to the Bandlab version. Only problem (s) I am having with it is:
1. I need to need to have the input echo on to hear when editing blobs and I never did before. Not a big deal but strange. I have read about the Global effects button thing but that is not relevant here.
.2 My biggest problem,The floating timeline cursor is "jerky" when playing/recording. I have a pretty powerful computer with dedicated video card. This never happened before in Platinum and now with the bandlab version, it is fuzzy double vision looking and jerky across the screen, not smooth like before. Is there maybe a new setting I'm missing. I tried for the heck of it to up the buffer but it did not affect the crummy looking cursor.

I know this has been covered a lot in the "legacy" forum, I searched here for some recent opinion and couldn't find any (searching "prochannel compressor & EQ) So I am again wondering why Prochannel defaults placing the compressor after the EQ? I had always been taught compressor should go first but it might make sense to cut frequencies you don't want before they can affect the compression. Right now I am speaking of Vocal tracks and using either the CA-2A or PC76 compressors. Where should/do you recommend EQ placement and why?

These units don't have a makeup gain. If you need more Gain turn the gain up. As you reduce the peaks, you will hit a point where it has a reduced overall output.
The CA-2A works in a similar fashion. However the Gain on the CA-2A seems to add quite a bit of saturation if you crank it where the Leveling Amp can stay cleaner at higher gains. In this particular respect, I like the Leveling Amp better
In the CA-2A peak reduction controls the amount of compression and gain controls the post-processed output level. I would call that make-up gain.

I was about to say that here , this plugin is really really good, and the best part is that is FREE! recommended!
Problem that I have with this is that it t doesn't seem to have any "makeup gain" and diminishes the signal quite a bit. Am I missing something?

I am still running the last non bandlab version. I am skeptical of the "free" version which requires a "downloader" to download. If it was really free this wouldn't be required. Seems there is something going on behind the curtain I don't know if I can trust.

Thank you everybody for all the great suggestions!

It would bew great if bandlab adds the CA-2A to cakewalk.
I love the prochannel
I don't see why not. At one point it was being given away for free.

My favorite free optical compressor emulation VST is the AdHd Leveling Tool.
Looks like it is 64 bit also. Normally not offered for free!

Try this freebie as an alternative. I prefer it to CA-2A personally:

plenty of those around
I'm using the Lost Angel now. Even if I was a millionaire I doubt I would pay $100.00 for a plug in. I heard the Waves is good, if it was $30.00 I might try it.

Like pwal said that offering may or may not be legit - and Cakewalk's CA-2A is cool and all but it's not worth $170+. Look for the Waves CLA-2A to go down to $29 soon.
That would be a closer to reasonable price. $180.00 for a plug in....No way.

I tried. Sorry I couldn't answer your question.
Thank you very much for your efforts!

Do you have to keep bandlab assistant on your computer? If I wanted to download/use say, Sonar platinum (bandlab version) will it run without the assistant?
I am always leery about "assistant " type programs, being as if it was really free you could just download it. "Assistant" downloads usually tell me something is phoning home, tracking or taxing my memory somehow.

Thanks. I was trying to change this in preferences/colors. I don't think I have a "theme editor".

Where?

How can I get the CA-2A?

As I had said, the "modulation" thing was just an example, it has little to do with what I am asking. I initially thought that was enough to get someone to understand what I was asking for.
The last screenshot I provided showed and circled the exact text I want to change color of. In your example short delay, plate room, That is what I wan to change text color of. Yours are green. What element changes it to green? I want a different color for "on" and "off"

Question: Is "Modulation" the name of one of your buses? If not, what is it?
A: Actually that was just a sample from the internet to show the area of exact text I want to change. My sends are Delay & 2 reverebs
So far this isn't answering my specific question. I have found a way to change text colors but not in the box I have circled. Modulation is just an example of the text & the exact location. When it is clicked on and off it changes color. I want to know how to change those colors and those colors only.

I have a downloaded theme I love to use with one exception I just cannot find a way to change something and I believe it is possible. In the console view, the text in the stackable sends boxes goes from a light grey/blue to a slightly darker blue and it is very difficult to see when it is clicked on. I know by seeing other themes there has to be a way to change the text color say,to red or something when it is on. Does anybody know how to do this? I've tried everything that makes sense to me.
In the attached example I want "modulation" text to be a vastly different color when on. Which setting does this?
Timeline cursor unstable

The day & years before when I was using Platinum there has never been this issue. I read that the new bandlab version was supposed to be more stable /less resource demanding so it is a little tough for me to think the card that worked perfectly with Platinum on Monday (and the past several years) suddenlyhas an issue Tuesday.
I don't know what you mean by pause/break button? Where is it and what does it do? Asio Drivers. Same as Platinum.
