Agreed that it’s totally off the map for serious DAW users but what about just as a tool? Like you don’t really need a Wave Editor but then they are a handy tool to use sometimes.

My main music is rock. I also have Soundforge something and Goldwave. No, i don’t need it.
I must be honest though,, i did not spend/waste too much time on it, but……

    Looking forward to Sonar however.

i'm still unable to activate cakewalk2023.09! When I go to help menu and choose sign in to bandlab, it takes me to the screen and when I try to login, CbB says "account could not be verified at this time error code 1".  if i go to the site I can login just fine when cakewalk has not directed me there.

I try many things, listen many advices but nothing is working (check windows firewall, no other application running, try new login, desinstall/reinstall cakewalk, change default browser, update windows, unpdate browser....)

Everything was fine before the migration, but now, i cannot use cakewalk any more!

Try closing ALL browsers then open CbB and use the Help menu to sign in.

  3. i’m in France.
Rumble is banned there for the moment. Any chance of trying somewhere else ? If not i’ll try with a VPN from somewhere more exotic.

Because of French government demands to remove creators from our platform, Rumble is currently unavailable in France. We are challenging these government demands and hope to restore access soon.

Anybody remember that guy Ben (?) who used to hang out in the old Coffeehouse and who was a huge fan of Lennon and the Beatles (and somewhat possessive of them, if that makes sense)? Wonder if he's still around and doing well. I seem to remember he was struggling with his emotions a bit at times, and it could sometimes be difficult to stay nice to him, but still... Hope he's ok.

Yep, the self styled Drunken Chef and Beatles expert amongst other things. Didn’t like (constructive) criticism of his “works”.

    Fun reading.

    Studio One +

$179.00 per year gives you Studio One 6.5 Pro and the use of every VST instrument and effects plugin they have.  I don't know how much the new Sonar is going to cost when I have to pay for it but I've seen from estimates predicted here that it's going to be anywhere from $300 - $500 for a one time purchase.  BUT... what is it going to include?

Good thing is, if I really don't like Studio One + I have the option to cancel before renewing and then come back and get the new Sonar.  (but from what I've seen so far, that's not going to happen.)

You are aware that nobody except the Bakers know the pricing structure ? Don’t believe any pure gossip and speculation you read on the forums - nobody knows.

  6. Why would you want to hide them ?

In my workspace they are never shown unless i click on the up arrow (bottom left corner) to bring them up/unhide them. When i’ve finished with them i hide the by clicking on theit down arrow.

or you can tweak them in the console view.

I may not be the the brightest spark here but am i misunderstanding something here ?

A new occurrence - I can't say if it happened in previous versions, cause it's the first time I've used it - is that the Hornet SW34EQ plugin gets completely scrambled every time I open a project that includes it.

All the gain knobs jump to max, the input-output link button gets engaged, the input and output settings are reset to 0, the hiss level is reset to default, and the plugin is turned off from the frame - even if it appears active in FX bin.

This is very similar to things happening in the past - Softube Tape and Embertone Sensual Saxophone fully resetting on Stop/Play commands, or Waves REQ6 and H-EQ bands jumping to max value, on pressing the same.

Additionally, the double arrows that open the Synth Rack/Browser/Help windows are missing - that's something I've reported a long time ago, not fixed, the toast notifications still don't go away by themselves, and the order of these three windows still gets reset, on some projects. The Arranger track always missing on open, even though it's saved with it on, so on so forth. That's just a small part of the minor stuff.

Another thing that I've noted recently is that now plugins crash when i turn on/off other plugins up the chain - for instance Waves dbx crashes when I turn on/off the PA Helios Bus, in the bin, five plugins upchain, or PSP Delay crashes when I turn on/off the Reason Rack . Many times turning on/off makes pop sounds, some times the ML Drums channels start making this huge whistling/hiss noise that covers everything - not good when you're wearing headphones, I can tell you that - and a bunch of plugins keep crashing the DAW - if I remove one, another one crashes - I've gotten to 6 separate plugins crashing the DAW, on one project, at different times. Other times, CW just crashed by itself - CW core. The code is c0000005 or c0000005d. I've got all the VC redists installed.

Virtual instrument outputs stops or it gets desynced every time I reposition the playhead in the time line or change the loop selection. That's some of the not so minor stuff. Not the worst.

The more serious problems are wave clips that I find moved in the timeline - the contents of the clip gets repositioned when I trim the clip edges, other times various slices appear in various positions in the lane, hidden underneath other clips, so on. There's dozens of types of problems, in this department. This is the serious stuff.

These are all old, and have never been fixed.

I only have Emberton Sensuous Sax. Its always done as per your description. Ie lose the settings. Of all my plugs its the only one that does that.

i’m tending towards the fact that its a (good albeit) shoddy piece of a vst.

Well a strange thing happened since the recent forum updates. I keep getting random notifications about threads. I never go up there but for some reason that thread popped up in my notifications multiple times and I replied. Silly me. That'll teach me to try and participate in the forums that they ask me to. 😁

I see the drooling fanboy attitude still hasn't changed. Same ol' same ol'. Heaven forbid someone suggests that a corporation with 30 plus million users might have a little heart and take the loyal user base in to consideration. You would have thought I pewpew'd the pope for whatshisnames sake. Sheesh.

You’re still hung up about Gibson ?

... I go upstairs, one of you hop a flight to NJ, kick me in the balls, and throw me back down the stairs. LOL. I'll reimburse your travelling expenses.

That said, I do have a question I'm afraid to ask anywhere else ....

Does CbB look right on 4K monitors now? The last time I tried it, it did not. That is really the only thing keeping me from using it. I ask because I don't have my DAW set up right now but will in the future. Just wanted to know out of curiosity, how others are 'seeing' it.

    Thanks.

Well, maybe you should get upstairs more often, you’d have found the answer to your rhetoric question/statement a long time ago……….. 😜

But to answer your real question, yes, it does to my tired eyes.If you’re looking to get something 4k I would advise you to wait until Cakewalk Sonar appears with its scalable thingies. From what my limited brain cells understand, it will be better.

Audacity is a DAW, I know it is not like CbB, that´s because I use CbB, but it is a DAW

Sorry about Magix, this one https://www.magix.com/es/musica/music-maker/ Music maker free edition, some limitations, but you can make music without a problem.

    Another one :https://www.tracktion.com/products/waveform-free

    Another one https://lmms.io/  ...

Not to mention combining multiple applications

Yes, I know, some of them lack some feature, they have some limitation, but what I mean is that if you are looking to create music with a free DAW, there are many options to choose from, that's why I say that destroying CbB is a big mistake, because a large part of its users use it, we use it, because it is incredible but also because it is free

No, i think you’ll find most people think of Audacity’s editing features (some easier to use than CbB …….) but it is very limited in terms of if you think its a DAW.

But anyway, why stop using CbB ? Its not going away.

I am not talking about "lite" versions, for example Magix , this one

    https://www.magix.com/us/music-editing/free-download/independence-free-sampler-software/

I think CbB is better for me, but you can do the same with this one.

Audacity, a different league I Know, has added vst support, more work, different way, but you can creat music with it.

And you can do a search in google, sure there are more of them.

Audacity is an editor, not a DAW. Its no where near as powerful as CbB.

indépendance is a sampler not a DAW.
