Make sure you deactivate and hardware dependent software.  Yes, I know Windows is software, but you don’t want to run the risk of software deactivating and not being able to reactivate (like software iLok stuff).

Complementing this post - for those NOT using iLok,

Windows changed my PC and Laptop identity/references,  so I had to re-register my "new" devices with such VST's providers as Toontrack, XLN, Izotope  .........

I didn't get an upgrade email but Nathan at Harrison got me setup with the $99 for Pro deal - I had been eyeing some of the XT plugins, so this turns out to be a very good deal for me also.

How did you contact them ? I used the “Contact” page on their website 2 days ago, so far no news.

  3. The people i deal with (Thomann) use UPS, who at least call before they deliver or when they are outside your gate. Lets be honest a mobile phone call costs 2x nothing for a company……..,

The few times i’ve had companies thar deal with Fedex, never.. pita etc.

Things like this John are what I was\am concerned about.

    No need to be.

When you find your program for the first time, simply pin it to the start menu. I’ve done that for Control Panel, Services, Task Scheduler, System etc plus the apps that i use frequently.

Loving W11 here on desktop and a so called un upgradable laptop.

I had a severe problem installing Cakewalk on a new laptop.
SOLVED: It turned out to be an audio driver issue similar to others described in this thread. Maybe this info will save someone a lot of wasted time.

Laptop: HP ENVY x360, Windows 11

I installed Cakewalk, and on first run it always got hung with a spinning cursor. Periodically a little window with a progress bar flashed on the screen (too short to read text). Basically it was almost impossible to do anything with dialogs. When I managed to  open preferences, the only audio I/O devices were "Steinberg built-in ASIO...", checked.

When I looked in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO I saw 2 entries:
    Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver
    Steinberg built-in ASIO Driver

I'm pretty sure these both came from Steinberg from a previous installation of Dorico software.

    TO FIX:
    a. Backed up the entire registry!
    b. Exported and then deleted the "Steinberg built-in" key
    c. Restarted Cakewalk - now operating normally
    d. There was a pop-up dialog saying "Generic Low Latency ASIO" was not compatible - change to WASAPI? I said yes.
    e. Audio profiles run and everything seems to be normal.

I wish there were a way to avoid/bypass the setup hang with driver issues... An extension to "safe mode"?

The most simple solution would be to purchase a sound device (Focusrite, Presonus etc) that has its own dedicated Asio drivers……..

I doubt they are. They don't even fix the bugs you are reporting, being more focused on telling you which content you can post or not in your channel about their product.

Personally, I don't see as much overreacting as happened when the commercial change was announced. That happens simply because we never get concrete answers on anything. It's either a half answer or the answer is everything which what you ask isn't. And that gets old fast. I find strange a company can come up with a whole marketing and revamp of things like forums, product pages and the like and a simple thing like communicating to potential customers  what their options are is a herculean task which takes several months and requires preparing the grounds several times for some reason.

Bugs ? C’mon,. Enlighten the faithful please.

I'm another. I moved to Arcachon on the Atlantic coast 45 minutes west of Bordeaux and 2 hours north of Spain almost 3 years ago. So, Pascal covers the northwest, Zo covers Paris and I cover the southwest. Now all we need is someone from Lyon and Marseille or thereabouts, and we have France covered.

    Bienvenue, Pascal !

Sorry , got to the South West before you (44 years ago ......).

But we can share if you like 😉

Latest installer and product works for me.

@BapuJust to satisfy enquiring minds, since my W11 rig updated this morning, I can now get it to install and fire up but it won’t split a file, it just shows loading.  Have you tried splitting ?

It appears it can’t read the AI model according to SC.

  9. i’m in France, I have this for my bank, Amazon, Paypal and various other shop services etc. I login then, they send an sms with a code which i input and i’m good to go. 99/100……… No biggie.

My telecom provider however gives me a choice - either using a password to login to their servers or using a pin code with a second code sent by their servers to my mobile. I never installed such an app on my iPhone, but obviously they are the provider who knows what they’ve hard wired in ……..

i find this second method intrusive. So for the moment I make sure remember my password.

    It’s supposed to increase security…………

BUT, in your case,. I’d probably tell them where to put it and go elsewhere.

Seeing as how I had fired up the old computer I started looking to see if anything important should be copied from it for future. I found it had a 4th drive that was not connected so in that I found this. Screenshot(652).png.e1b514379c66de6e0363854ac9da6f41.png

I'm on line now and the latest version is still installed and activated. I'm also logged into Bandlab. So the install ran normally and odd thing was the release notes opened and they are for the latest version. I will post that because this contains what we were told about offline activations as well as that older version cannot be activated.

    Screenshot(651).thumb.png.50a273d031607b8dcfcf95b4fe1b04b7.png

So I opened Cakewalk and got the warning about activation as well as proof that I had actually finally succeeded in installing an older version.

    Screenshot(655).thumb.png.1fbc0c48dae7b613ea43d0204ee494b8.png

But this is once again a dead end because it will not activate. I am totally logged into this forum and to Bandlab. I even opened Google password manager to double check my user name and password all attempts to use those failed. So more proof that the developers are not lying to us and older versions are now history.

So if you are going to spread misinformation please supply proof !

Thank you for taking the time to confirm what I posted above.

What is said and what is fact are quite often two different things. That is the only point here. When someone has a self-interest in what is said, it often reflects in what they say. The legacy Cakewalk servers are still online, so taking the activation server offline for CbB would support a self-serving reason.

Yeah ok, then the Bakers are wrong…….

I’ll try installing an old version.. Tomorrow,

    No, you are.

That statement is not true. The bakers didnt say it, YOU did.

i suggest you read the above and i quote in case you can’t be bothered :

“Note: Because earlier versions of Cakewalk can no longer be activated, there is no rollback installer available for the 2023.09 release.”

so did i say it or not ? Oops. Hey, no worries,

I am still running 2022.06 and when people complained about the new 3-month activation window and the program being "disabled completely," I went in and manually re-activated it 2 weeks ago without issues. Spreading disinformation (regardless of how often it it is done), does not make it fact.

So what you’re saying is the Bakers are spreading  mis info ?

no... I keep all my previous update installers on the system in case I need to rollback. But those installers can be found here anyway: https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/33-product-release-info/
By the way... steel works like a charm!

You can no longer roll back. There is only one installer for CbB that can be activated, and this by the internet . All the others don’t work/cannot be activated.
