  1. That's the one! But I think you just keep the bass like you have. That section starts with a b flat 7 / B flat in the bass (octave bounce) - The d note then hits by itself quickly followed by an A flat in the bass (octave bounce) which kind of turns the chord into an A flat maj 7. Don't mind me - I like to keep covers true to the original...some people don't care one way or the other, but particularly with the Beatles, I like to keep them true. Steve
  2. Hi - Thanks for your comment about 'For No One'! Yes it is that one note at about 13sec - I hear it again at about 1:32. I recorded a version of this a while back with some help from people on Bandlab. https://baselines.com/?p=5564
  3. Great instrumentation and the mix is superior - I can hear all the instruments. Love the way it ends, fits the sentiment. Nice writing Lynn! Steve
  4. Nice work guys - sounds lush and inviting. Definitely cools my agita after reading the daily news 🙂
  5. Powerful and clean (distortion clean if you know what I mean) - good tight work.
  6. Very nice - the orchestration works very well, parts are good together.
  7. The vocals really cut through on this one - great job on the mix. Good lyrics as well!

    Just

Good bass and kick sound and sync on this one.
  9. Nice work on this one - may just be my old ears but I would boost the highs a little.
  10. Happy belated St. Patrick's Day. We were in Florida and missed it this year, but I just got home and purchased the fixins, so this weekend will have to do. Boston impresario Joe Viglione asked me to record and produce this song he wrote. Here it is. https://baselines.com/?p=6982
  11. Thank you for your kind words. I had wanted to do this one for a long time and finally put it together!
  12. I love the Capitol Studios Compressor for the master buss. Here is a version of Duke Ellington's song that was covered by Steely Dan on Pretzel Logic. Finally got around to learning the piano part and playing it through at least once in my life. https://baselines.com/?p=6977
  13. Hi Nigel - thank you for your feedback on this! Steve
  14. There was a group here in Boston (if I remember correctly, they were called 'Band in Boston') that had great horns. The best horns I ever heard live were the E-Street Band. When they came in on Tenth Avenue Freeze Out after the band cooked it on low for about 30 seconds, it about blew the walls off of the Boston Garden. I believe a couple of people actually melted a little.
  15. Yes, three vocals, using Melodyne to fine tune. On all of the vocals, I used iZotope Nectar 3 to process eq and compression decisions. Overall, on the master buss for everything, I used the UAD Capital Mastering compressor (which I love for one feature, the saturation button).
  16. Thanks John - I used Session Pro Horns on that one - perhaps I put too many effects on them! Steve
  17. Hi Jack - thank you. I think you probably mean the effects on the 'POWER UP' vocal. I sent the vocal buss to three fx busses: cakewalk sonitus delay, pultec room verb, hitsville verb I automated them to kick in just for those parts. I'm going to try a screenshot here to show the settings. If you meant some other part, let me know.
  18. Thanks Kevin - I agree, it reminds me of Harrison as well. Steve
