  1. Did early access to the above version. I can select expression lanes from view menu in PRV, but nothing there for me to enter or be prompted for an expression map.

The only reason I upgraded was because the previous version I was using decided also to not display expression maps. I don't mean to complain, but there seem to be more and more bugs that are stopping me from getting anything done. Every day, something new (and unwanted) happens with the program.  I've been a user of Cakewalk since they began ( I think as 12 tone). Upgraded to Sonar then paid for Sonar Platinum, then to Bandlab. Not new to program, but I think I've finally reached a frustration level of +10 db. I hate to say it, but I might try to crossgrade to Cubase since I did pay for the original Sonar Platinum.

Anyway, after my whining, does anyone else not see the expression lanes that used to be there? Am I missing a setting. This is a great forum, very informative, and helpful, so I appreciate all the help I've received over the years.

    Thanks,

    Michael Warren

  2. PROBLEM SOLVED.

Under Preferences, Hide related VST2 Plug-ins, and Replace if Possible on Project Load were unchecked. I was using Kirk Hunter Orchestral Program. After checking those 2 boxes, everything played fine. It's possible it did not like one or the other VSTs. I'm not going to go into depth searching for the reason. I'd rather get back to making music after a frustrating 3 days.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

  3. I know. I've turned off zero controllers on stop. I've been writing this piece for about 3 weeks. It begins with Oboe solo and strings. Has always worked, but today, no Oboe Volume. I've checked automation lanes, that's fine. This is the only patch (oboe), that it's happening on. It was always working fine with volume up until today. I can manually move the slider up, but on release, it's back to no volume. I'm really not sure what's happening. Any ideas would be appreciated. I've even tried insert Volume 100  at beginning of piece for insert menu, but no success.\

    Thanks,

I don't recogn' I've ever had multiple plug in windows active simultaneously while minimized.  It's quite difficult to locate minimized windows (imo) when working.

Are you familiar with the "Recycle Plug In" option in the Preference>VST setting?  This will use the same recurring plug in window if you only need to work with one plug in at a time, meaning it allows for only one instance of a plug ins window to be opened, but will change out for whichever plug in you chose to work with.  It's pretty great for quickly moving through plug ins without the need for minimizing or exiting out.

So, in most cases working through plug in interfaces, I use multiple opened plugin windows only to compare settings when utilizing a dual mono/stereo process method (I probably made it up and is a waste of time?...) using channel strip emulators but gladly rid of them once set..... I love the feeling of moving on to the next situation!

Needing access to the plugin interface is instant when launching it by clicking the plug in, wherever it is inserted.  This method should also improve performance unless you are on an older machine using new 3rd party plug ins that take time to reveal themselves (I have an older laptop for useless conveniences that takes 30-45 secs to load the Waves SC Omni Channel...I should probably use your method of just minimizing its window lol)

....I'm a bit verbose, yet I do not know why.

That worked great, but do you have to always go back to preferences when you want to open more than one plugin?

I wasn't familiar with that setting. I might try that even though, closing them all as suggested by Nigel in his response, solved my original problem.

Thank you for the tip on Recycle, I will also try that when I'm working.

    Don't minimise, close them.
Once you have set them they way you want you don't need to see them.

That solved problem. Closed All, then saved project, reopened, and non were there. Could just click on one I needed.

    Thanks.

  7. When I open a project with multiple VST plugins, even though I saved with them minimized, I have to minimize all the plugins again when I open the project. I can't seem to find a key stroke that will minimize 10 to 20 vst instruments at once.

Any help would be appreciated it as I find it annoying to continual minimize or close all vst plugins used in project.

    Thanks in advance,

Articulations are treated in the same way as any other MIDI event -  unlike Tempo's, Arranger sections, Markers etc, which are separate entities altogether.  So the trick is not to have the articulations selected in the first place.

There are a couple of options to prevent articulations getting selected:

    1. In the Clips View:

     2. In the PRV:

Unchecking these should stop articulations getting selected.

Note - there's a known issue with lasso select in the clips view always selecting articulations. This has been fixed and will be available in the next update.

Thanks. I never thought to check out those menus before a copy and paste. You’ve made my life a lot easier.

  9. Quite often I will copy a track or duplicate to use with another instrument. I'll usually use Paste Special. I'd like to see a checkbox similar to events that would allow me not to copy the articulation track. That would save me quite a bit of time. For example, a flute track copied to a Bass Clarinet and transposed down. I wouldn't have to delete all of the articulations I entered in the flute track.

  11. After reading msmcleod very informative post. I then created 2 separate articulation groups for Soundiron Olympus Micro Choir. That gave me the 2 articulation tracks I needed to have women on one and men on another. I've attached the 2 groups for anyone who has that plugin. I'll start work on their Divisi patches next.

Thanks again to this discussion group. A great source of knowledge by the participants.

  12. I think you may have solved my problem with 2 lanes. Using SoundIron Vocal plug ins. L1 are Male and L2 are feamale. With your explanation I should create 2 separate articulation groups so I can put male on 1 track and female on the 2nd. Am I understanding you correctly? That would allow me to have women using one articulation and the men another simultaneously.

    Thanks in advance,

Just use Import in the articulation map editor.

Import does not show the file name. I rename to .artmap and can see. I import but no data. Have you been successful importing a 3rd party DAW expression map? For example?

  14. Some Daws save articulation maps with extension expressionmap. CWB saves as artmap. I tried renaming them and can see name in CWB articulation editor, but no data appears. Is their a work around to use other DAWs expression maps, or convert them to be read in CWB? Considering they all only contain midi data, is it their fields that mess up using them in CWB?

    Thanks,

  15. If you were registered on the original cakewak site, log into that, go to my products ( I think that’s the lnk) and it will show you all versions and plugins you received. It will allow you to download them. Hopefully you’ll see your program to download.

  16. Trying to load into cwb, screen freezes up and I have to close cw through task manager. I can load into sonar professional, but it takes forever. Then I can save project and open in cwb with no problem. I can save as a track template in Sonar and insert into cwb. Hate to do these work arounds. I have multiple other large instrumental plugins and have no problems inserting into kontakt. My setup is an i7 at 3.1 mghz. 20 gb of memory, 1tb ssd and 1 tb hd at 7200 rpm. The program really hits my hd when trying to load. I copied to my ssd and not as extrme usage as my hd. Could it be a setting in my full version of kontakt 6.x? No other library has this problem. The program sounds great, but even with the great discount, it doesn’t seem to be a great fit for Cakewalk by Bandlab. Anyone else experience this?

    Thanks,

I also own Sonar Producer and will try that next. Maybe save as a track template and try to insert into cwb. Hate to do these work arounds. 18. Might pick up scaler2, not as an arpeggiator, but not being a piano player, it could save me some time upfront. Seems to give you a lot for the money. Thanks to all who gave suggestions. Will close thread now.
