  1. There's a thread on VI-Ctl about True Strike being discontinued by Project SAM. True Strike is leaving the store - Farewell Sale
  2. How is this a deal ? Looks like full price to me...
  3. Plugin graphics is pretty basic and a bit buggy. The input and output knobs do funny things, and the toggle switch works but its image won't update unless you close and reopen the plugin. Haven't tried the EQ side of things. This in S16, W10.
  4. Yeah, it's a lot easier to just think about playing an instrument than actually playing it and long enough to get good at it. I have many instruments, real and virtual, that are waiting patiently for my retirement that'll probably never happen, and if it does, I'll hurt too much to play anything for real.
  5. Back in the late 90's I gave my pre-school daughters the pc game SymTunes which also did this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GchIgaSmFI0 You draw a picture on the screen then four little bugs crawl around the picture playing the pixels they encounter along the way.
  6. Thanks Larry !! Thought it was a voucher till I tried it as a serial number in the Portal. Going to have to make some room on my SSD, 15 GB of flac files. Happy new year to you and ALL. EDIT : this is re Digital Synsations.
  7. In File / Options you can uncheck "Enable new instruments for you" panel. (had me worried there, for a second)
  8. The way Studio One handles external devices is just so easy. I use Bome MIDI Translator between my controller and Studio One and with its Control Link it's amazing what you can do and how easy it is to do it.
  9. I've been developping an appreciation for Tracktion software lately having acquired F.'em for cheap and LOVE for free. I really like the look of the various Tracktion product UI's. Clean, colourful and resizable. I've wondered if Dawesome also does the UI's for the products he's made or if it's the work of someone else. There's quite a story on the developer side of things which makes me a bit uneasy about the long-term stability of the company. It's kind of confusing with Tracktion currently belonging to PACE (iLok) of all companies (and PACE belongs to yet another company) and Tracktion itself seemingly an umbrella for several teams if not separate companies. Recent low prices are great for my wallet, but the products are worth a lot more than I paid for them.
  10. FM8 - the UI is pretty small and my big screen is zoomed a bit. Also the browser seems to do funny things but maybe that's normal. I figured it was worth 10$ to see how it compared to F.'em and Flow Motion.
  11. Loom II is an interesting synth, but be aware that the UI won't display properly if you use any kind of dpi scaling on your monitor. There may be some overlap of modules though the mouse still aligns properly with the controls. Within Studio One you can disable the dpi scaling (Options/General) while playing with the synth, then reenable scaling when you're finished.
  12. Went looking to see what I already had in the transient shaping department. Found boz's Transgressor, Cakewalk TS 64 and WA Production Helper 2. Does this Softube plugin offer any advantages over these and others ?
  13. It's nice, but it's gone way up in price - on sale or otherwise.
  14. Either that or sign up to their newsletter, which I only did for the holidays period. That's how I found out in time to get the freebie.
  15. The site still exists, it's just down... If the company is out of action, I wonder how Plugin Boutique came up with an authorizing program ? Maybe they now have full control of the software ? Or they just called in a favour ?
  16. I don't know the status of SoundSpot itself as their site is still down. My only SoundSpot product is their Union synth but I presume this applies to other SoundSpot products. Plugin Boutique has replaced the download with a new one that includes two executables : 1. the synth plugin installer as before 2. a "License Installer" program that is run after reinstalling the synth plugin. Now when you open your daw, the plugin is useable without the bit about being in demo mode and there is no longer an invitation to activate. The synth is still at version 1.0.3 but clicking the gear icon now brings up a window that displays "Valid License Located". So thanks to Plugin Boutique for their perseverance in this matter.
  17. I've really got nothing to do right now... "Not on your life"
  18. If they are, it sure is hidden. I found this paragraph buried deep in one of the bundle descriptions : Hassle-free: all our monthly and yearly bundles will auto-renew every month or every year. This means you will be charged automatically until you cancel (which you can do anytime, of course), and your licenses will be renewed automatically every month or every year as well (depending on your specific plan). But nowhere else does it say that what you're actually buying is a subscription.
  19. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, there are some pretty interesting bundles. 45 bx plugins for 13$ 13 SPL plugins for 10$ 5 Ampeg amps for 6$ etc.
  20. Annoying that more and more sites are hiding the prices. I usually turn away at that point. Even stranger is ISW having "add to cart" buttons that you'd have to click without even knowing the price beforehand.
  21. The synth itself looks interesting. However, the description states : "To overcome the resulting inconsistencies in loudness and timbre, TB Lowtone features innovative, loudness-domain synthesis algorithms that adjust each harmonic individually to compensate for loudness deviations across frequency." I thought the inconsistencies were very dependant on the playback volume, which cannot be known in advance.

    Lars?

Translation : We're so addicted that we worry when several hours go by without a hit. And we all know what that makes Larry...
  23. This place is really exceptional. That we can discuss something like this without things degenerating is pretty amazing. I appreciate the information that has been shared.
  24. Is this a generational thing ? I brought up my two daughters and we bought all the songs that we each listened to while everyone else was happily stealing them and passing them around. And they were, what, 1$ each ? So just because something is easy to steal by copying, it's no longer theft. Weird.
