  1. With extensions there’s nothing that S1 can  do that REAPER can’t. I know that’s not ideal for some, but extensions are part of REAPER world and they’re absolutely amazing and mostly free. The most essential one IMO is Heda Track Inspector. With the tag system I can control the visibility of my orchestral sections so easily! The VIP version has some crazy extra features too.

  2. I'll post my comment on the YT video:

LABS plugin kept deleting/unauthorizing the instruments. I wiped/re-installed and then it crashed, not my DAW, but WINDOWS itself.... PLEASE, put some resources into fixing the plugin, there's plenty of people on forums reporting the same for YEARS now. I won't buy any more of your products until fixed. Sorry, not trying to be rude or seem unappreciative, they're all great instruments, but if you're leaving Kontakt you shouldn't 'tax' your customers for it with a (more than) buggy plugin.

I love Reaper, I always dabble with other DAWs until I hit a limitation that Reaper can handle with ease. Any complicated idea of routing or whatever I can think up, Reaper or it’s users usually have a solution. I’m still looking for that elusive them though that will make me happy. Also wish comping was as neat as Studio One

Better comping is coming very soon!

The one thing that really bugs me about Reaper is the amount of time users dedicate to tweaking themes. Doesn't anybody use Reaper to make music?  🤣

Trust me, I know... but there IS a light at the end of that tunnel. I used to bounce through DAWs like crazy but I'm pretty settled with R now. I basically built my own DAW with it and I can't imagine leaving it for anything.

  5. I just thought I'd shared a new theme that user Sol made for the REAPER community. IMO, this is the most pleasant, clear, modern, slick, and easy-on-the-eyes theme ever made for the platform. He's from Ukraine and made it as a way to distract himself from the horrible things happening around him. He has a Patreon if you would like to support him.

This is a really dangerous precedent because they can take your money and cancel you at any time for any reason if they want to.

Exactly! People who think that this will not happen to them are absolutely delusional. It being legal or not is absolutely irrelevant if authorities decide that the rule of law and individual rights are a thing of the past, which they seem to do. Get ready for widespread technological tyranny.

  7. PA decided to cut Russian musicians, producers and engeneers from activating the products they already paid for. Some of them bought stuff from them to help them when they had their studio flooded. Ukranians are heroes and Putin is a MF who's gotta go to hell but this is not cool. I encourage everyone to loophole the crap out of this company. I will stand with musicians and artists everywhere. I will back up their plugins in case they realize I loopholed them and never give them money again.

reFX also actually revoked licenses including all of expansions.

Ok, unfortunately the CPU behavior is still there. Here is the difference in CPU usage between version 5.0.3 and 5.4.0 on my PC. This is by just starting the standalone version with the default preset and giving it time to stabilize.

    5.0.3 - 2%

    5.4.0 - 4.5%

If I do the routing switch thing, click on the two amp routing and back to the single amp routing, the CPU usage for 5.4.0 goes down to a little less than 3%. Same behavior as with all versions after 5.0.3.

Oh man, thanks for this! AT5 was using about 3-4% CPU on REAPER and now is down to 1%... I was about to sell it because of it.

  9. They’re charging $99 for the upgrade, there’s no more “basic” option. If you paid for the DAW Essentials plugins you have to pay for them again.

AND they’re charging for bug fixes for bugs they introduced in 11.5.

    Classy.
