What other suggestions do you have for latency? Thanks to all responders.

First thing is what is acceptable latency? If you have an electric instrument how far away from the speaker can you sit and play? 10 feet? 20 feet? Each foot is close to a millisecond delay. If you can sit 16 feet away from a speaker and play then a 16 millisecond delay is acceptable to you. You should be able to look in edit -> preferences in the audio driver section and see what the reported round trip latency is. Is it less than or equal to what is acceptable to you? If so, you should be able to create a click track and record to that. Start with a blank project and create a click track, don't use any fx and try playing and recording to the click track. Does that work?

I'm just starting to use this, and I'm slowly but surely figuring it out, but sometimes I wanna smash my laptop off the wall. I remember the good old days with tape recorders and if you pressed record, guess what it did? It started recording then and there.

I think you should use the right tool for the job. If all you want is a simple recorder this is the wrong app. You may be better served by voice/sound recorder or something similar. I'm sure there are very simple recording apps out there. CbB is not only a recording console it has some fx units and instruments as well. Kind of like having a recording studio.

An easier way to switch between hardware profiles is in the works.  It probably won't make the next release (which should be out later this month), but hopefully the following one.

That's good to hear. It's not a big deal, but I have an audio I/F on a couple machines, and I have a Boss SY-1000 connected to them. When I'm just practicing/noodling around on guitar I often use the SY-1000 as an I/F and find myself switching between the two.

I own an ACER Aspire F15, with Intel Core i7 (2.7 GHz, up to 3.5 with boost), 8 GB DDR4 Memory, 128 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD.
The computer is 5 years old, though it is still very fast apart from the digital interface issues.

So, I wondering if it was purely due to my PC, any thoughts ?

I meant to buy a new one anyway, but not sure what to get. What PC do you use to record through a digital audio interface ?

That should be OK. I used a 10 year old laptop, but replaced it last year. I could easily get 20 or more tracks recorded.

I didn't watch the video you posted. It should be fine. You can look through this as well.

Did you install the ASIO driver for your IF? Are you using it? Did you try different USB ports?

I got an MSI gaming laptop last year.

That screams. Now I'm about ready to upgrade my DAW.

Also, make sure you don't have any browsers open and try turning on airplane mode.

When I'm recording a rhythm guitar part it's distracting to hear it really loud in my headphones  but I don't want to turn down the input volume that I'm recording. I'm sure there's something simple I'm missing here.

If the headphones are too loud turn down the headphone volume on the 2i2.

We are now at USB C which was developed because  of the demand put on the USB systems now needing faster data as well as more power to charge stuff. I have a pair of heated socks that have USB mirco B connections to charge them.   If I had spent more money I could have got the ones with USB C.

Just an FYI. USB C is a connector type. At this time, it could be USB 3.2 Gen 1, USB 3.2 Gen 1x2, USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 or USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 aren't necessarily USB C, they can have USB A connectors.
