  1. Wow. Who would have thought the topic of cheese could bring us all so close together like this. 🙄
  2. Let's see if this one gets yanked .... I don't remember if I told this story here before or not. Sorry, I'm getting older. Memory going. I was at dunkin' across town one morning getting a coffee. The F. driver was there in front of me ordering breakfast. She was wearing spandex and I happened to notice she had a severe wardrobe malfunction and no undergarments on her back side. I stood there behind her looking up at the ceiling, down at the floor, looking at the guy to the right me who was smiling, at the lady to the left of me shooting daggers at both of us. I contemplated saying something to her but I figured I hadn't better. Might get accused of something and end up in a paddywagon. I got my order before her and was sitting in my truck which was parked right next to her box delivery truck. Hah! Sorry, so she walks by and smiles and climbs up those metal grate steps in to the truck and I'm trying my darndest not to look. Due to the height of the steps, her gape, and amount of spandex tearing and location, you could see everything. I called my fiance and told her and she said I probably did the right thing by not saying anything. I go back across town to our apartment and son of a gun if the delivery girl didn't pull in behind me. I asked my better half to please go say something to her so she did. She comes back and tells me that the driver knew and she didn't care. We just shook our heads and walked away You could see everything, especially when she stepped up in to the truck, and she didn't care. There. Censor Dat! True story.
  3. I decided to mow my lawn so they would see and hear me on the date they were supposed to deliver my guitar, for the 3rd time. At the time I had 5 acres, wide open and no trees except on 2 sides of the property line. I had a giant Kubota deisel tractor that was incredibly loud. I went around to the back of the yard behind the house and cut along the tree lines in one pass. As I was coming up the property line I could see the FedEx truck leaving my driveway. He must have just come in as I was going around the house headed toward the back. This was after I went online and selected 'no signature required. I finished mowing and started looking around for the guitar from Sweets. All that was there was a yellow sticky note on my front door stating signature required and I wasn't home and I had to call their 800 number to schedule a pickup or pick another delivery date. That was the point I snapped and just cancelled the order. A few days later, after I cancelled the order, the FedEx guy rolled up with the guitar and I happened to be there. He was just going to drop it off because by this time they got the no signsture required memo, but didnt get the memo saying not to deliver it. I told him what happened and he just hopped back in his truck with it and took off. I remember I even refused to sign that I declined delivery due to the fact that I had already cancelled the order and he shouldn't even have been there. I didn't want to put my name on anything and accidentally get billed for it and have to fight that too. When I initially ordered the guitar it did show up, but the electronics were defective so I had to return it. So much for the 55 point inspection. It was the deliveries of the replacement guitar that got royally messed up.
  4. I was in a band at a very early age. It consumed my life. Live bands and places to play started to fall apart, at least in my area, around the mid 90's. It felt like being an uninvited guest somewhere and we knew it was coming to an end. Recording satisfied that itch. Over the years I took multi year long breaks from it, but I always came back. I'm in one of those breaks now and I'm getting the itch to get back in to it. I've had several songs get very high on the list for their category on some free streaming services, but I never made a penny on any of it and never took it seriously. I couldn't imagine a time when I say, ok that's it. I'm selling everything. Especially my main guitar I've had for 41 years. I have a similar story to Notes Motown story. A friend ofnmine and I signed a contract to do a soundtrack for a movie for a famous singer from the 50' and 60's. He died in a plane crash in the 80's. They put the cart before the horse and when they approached his estate with the idea, they said no to the documentary, and that was the end of that with the stroke of a lawyers pen. Technology sure can make it more difficult now like kitekrazy said. You can go insane learning it and keeping it running, let alone all the options and ability to manipulate a "real" recording into something perfect. Almost nothing we hear on the radio now is real. I switched back to tape and transferred it to digital to mix and master a while back and that brought back a lot of enjoyment for me. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  5. It has to be the corporate name that has been mentioned is all I can figure, because there was ZERO offensive language in my last 2 replies. I give up. And you'll see why in detail if my replies are ever released.
  6. Got post #3 blocked. Goodbye.
  7. I just got my 2nd reply blocked over absolutely nothing. NOTHING. Unreal. Here it us without the word that caused it to get blocked .... I went and edited my post before it was released from jail. I removed the only word I thought could even remotely be offensive. It's just ridiculous. But it is what it is. I have to say the censorship is working. There's so many times I've sat here and written a reply, or even went to start a thread, got it all done, and said to myself gee, I wonder if I said something that will be taken wrong and I'll get flack for it, and I just delete it. It's greatly decreased my participation here. I'm afraid to be humorous like we all used to be, afraid something will be deemed off topic and deleted. I just rarely participate anymore because of it. I was even hesitant to post the Fallout thread. Anyway, yeah. Fedex really 'draws air hard through a straw'.

  9. Oh for the love of ... Seriously .... ? THAT was censored ..... ?? Just ...... just ....... ahh nevermind.
  10. I absolutely greatly dislike FedEx. Ran in to the same exact thing with a guitar I ordered from Swtwtr and an amp from GC. I remember calling GC because their warehouse was in KC and asked if I could just pick it up because FedEx screwed up. I was only 30 minutes away. The that I was talking to got snotty with me and asked me why I wanted it so bad with an attitude. That was the last thing I bought from them and I will never buy anything from them again.
  11. I didn't try to skip them so I don't know, but they roll before the movie even starts. You pick the movie, click play, 2 commercials play, and then the movie starts with no other commercials. I'm OK with that. If they rolled during the movie that would suck. Other streaming services do this too. You can get the service cheap with ads, they roll before the movie starts, then you watch uninterrupted. Or you can pay a lot more for the service and get no commercials.
  12. So far since the commercial thing started with Prime, the commercials have been at the beginning of the movie. There haven't been any commercial breaks during a movie. I always see 2 short commercials before the movie starts, then they are uninterrupted. If they insist on commercials, this is the way to do it.
  13. I feel the same way, unfortunately guitar shops are going the way of the DoDo. All the major ones in North NJ are gone. One that's been in business 50 years here just closed their doors a few months ago. The GC near me is a complete joke. Sweets is excellent about returns. I call "sw. E. Et wah ter" Sweets because I'm convinced they have a bot or someone scanning the forums and I swear every time I mention their name in print here I start getting calls from a sales rep.. It's not that they bother me, it's just I can't afford anything and it causes me great anxiety to have tell them I'm not buying. Makes me feel crappy.
  14. I like the story and game play in 3 and New Vegas more than 4. I really like the settlement building aspect of 4. 9 years later and people are still putting out settlement building videos almost daily on youtube. I spent many hours during the winter months in the Midwest stuck inside doing settlement building. There are very limited mods on the PS4 that unlock almost everything in the game world to build with. PS4 won't let you use custom scripts or graphics, but there is more than you'll ever need in the game. I played 3 and NV on PS3. It was an abomination. It literally crashed every 3 minutes. Only a few years ago I got a video card powerful enough to run them on my PC. Modders converted everything to 4K and released patches to fix all the bugs. For the first time since they came out I was finally able to play them, with all the add-ons, all the way through and not a single crash. Fwiw, they are offering the Virtual Workshop for free on PS4 now. Don't know when that started or when it will end, but I just saw it last night. Normally they want money for it. As for not wanting Prime, yeah I get it. I got rid of all my subscriptions including XM. I need Prime for work, but the only subscription I have now is YouTube Premium. I got tired of the ads and I don't like using adblockers. It comes with YouTube Music which blows the 3 or 4 stations I listened to on XM out of the water. I really like how I can download everything on my cell and listen to it without using up my cell data. But this new TV series is really good. It takes you to their world like the game does and doesn't bring any modern topic crap in to it, so far. I really hope they do a season 2.
  15. I know there are a few fans of the Fallout game franchise 'round these parts. Amazon Prime Video just release the Fallout series. Season 1 is 8 episodes. Season 2 has already been funded, but not yet approved by Amazon yet, so I have read. I binge watched the entire season. It is absolutely fantastic. I couldn't stop watching. There were a lot of bad pre-reviews based on the teaser trailers. They were all wrong. There is no woke, political, or religious content of any kind. It is strictly Fallout lore. They used a lot of the music from the game and added more and it all fits perfectly. For those who don't know about the game, it's a massive open world game that could take years to play. It's based on what's left of humanity after a nuclear war. It takes place in the future but the music, cars, houses, clothing, and setting looks like it's from the 1950's. The company that owns the game decided to make a TV series out of it. Anyway, it just came out a few days ago and I thought I'd mention it. It's really good, especially the soundtrack.
  16. I don't like the same thing all the time. I usually get what's on sale, be it dark or flavored. That said, the only way I can drink it now is when it's made in a percolator pot. Nice and strong. When its made that way I really cant tell much of a difference between brands, unless they are flavored. This is a pic I grabbed off the net. It's not mine, but this is the exact one I have. It's an old Pyrex Percolator Pot. My sister collects them and gave me one.
  17. Here come the lawsuits over who gets their fair share. Peter and Ace are probably lawyering up.
  18. Slept in my Led Zeppelin t-shirt and woke up dazed and confused.
  19. Slept in my Simon & Garfunkel t-shirt and woke up feeling groovy!
  20. Slept in my Styx t-shirt and woke up being abducted by aliens.
  21. Slept in my Yoko Ono t-shirt and woke up wishing I hadn't.
  22. I went to sleep in my Beatles T-shirt and woke feeling like doing it in the road.
  23. I'm really sorry to hear all that. I really hope it all works out for you and the group. Your story reminds me of two times in my playing days that things fell apart. I was the guitar player storming out once. I got tired of the rhythm player staying in G for 3 measures longer than he should and I said something. He told me he was tired of my criticism, and I said ok. Calmly walked over and packed my guitar in the case and walked out and never returned. The best band I was ever in was in Iowa. We learned 5 sets of southern rock and other rock tunes. Something I had never done a full night of before. 2 weeks before our first gig the bass player, who was the leader and owned the PA and house where we practiced, said his job was relocating him out of state. The same night the lead singer also announced he was starting his own business and was leaving the band. After months of practice it was over in 30 minutes and we ended up canceling our first job. That was the last time I tried and haven't even attempted to start or get into another band since. That was 99 or 2000 iirc. It doesn't sound like you are anywhere near giving up. I'm sure you'll keep going somehow.
  24. Thank you. I was just thinking I could use some 'drama-meme' because this thread was making me nauseous. 😃😁
  25. Sorry to hear that. Hope it turns out OK for him and the rest if you. Our drummer developed arthritis and couldn't play anymore. He sang also. I came up with the idea to use a drum machine and see how it went. Nobody cared and we actually improved. He controlled the drum machine. Good ol' Alesis SR-16. I still have it and you can still buy them new. Eventually we recorded backing tracks and didn't even use it. In the end, we were much better because everything was tighter, and always the same. And we got more bookings. I know, I know, sometimes you need to extend songs and it's technically not a band, but it was still the 4 of us, and it worked. Very well.
