Great conversation about ASIO4ALL. I can attest it works better than my onboard computer's ASIO driver.
I've reached out to Sterling's e-mail support and will update when I receive a response from them.

Glenn, do you mean backwards compatibility with older software programs that perhaps don't offer ASIO or WASPI compatibility?
So your thinking the ASIO driver is likely a wrapper? If so, is there a way for someone to know?
I have a utility programming that exposes the individual files in an executable file. I downloaded the Sterling Windows driver package and saw there are 32 and 64 bit WDM & ASIO drivers. The WDM files are about 82K in size while the ASIO files are about 304K. Does that tell of anything?

The +++ Sterling Harmony H224 Audio Interface +++ driver executable loads a audio interface control panel, WDM driver and ASIO driver for use in Windows 10 and 11 operating systems.
Can anyone explain to me why the developer includes a WDM driver in addition to an ASIO driver?

Audacity has added a stem separation tool as one of four AI tools Intel developed. Here is a link to an 8 minute YouTube video that demonstrates each one. The interesting thing about these AI tools is they all work inside your computer, not upload to the cloud.

I like Mike but it all seems a bit odd to me....
Mike built is company "Creative Source" from majority of Cakewalk followers that turbo charge his channel for "Creative Source" to dump Cakewalk he built a company from, every post was mainly cakewalk. Yes he created a new YouTube channel just for Cakewalk and entitled to change his mind and do whatever is right for him. Maybe Cakewalk should have missed a trick to haev a ambassador etc.
Its like building a business for BMW customers, then sending them to a new BMW business whilst the old business changes to Audi, just all a bit bizarre but hes been honest about it, wish him well
Prior to creating CbB focused videos the Creative Sauce YouTube channel had numerous videos featuring equipment reviews and generic DAW tips using Studio One as the demonstration DAW. Back then Studio One sponsored several YouTube contributors and there were several more contributors attempting to build an audience. Switching his DAW focus from Studio One to CbB allowed Creative Sauce to stand out from the crowd. While a smart business move it also allowed Creative Sauce to quickly collect a loyal audience.

Fluid Synth is a great find John. I like that it can be embedded and appears to be updated about twice a year.
Over the past few years PG Music has offered multiple midi sound sources but they are all add-ons, require user setup and are customized in some manner. As an embedded application Fluid Synth eliminates all the setup frustrations users experience.
Say what you will about the TTS-1 sound but it really set Sonar/Cakewalk apart from the rest of the DAW crowd when they made it an embedded, default midi synth.

are there any "official" tutorials from the bakers themselves?
Not from the Bakers but Groove3.com has a 26 video set here. I've viewed both the ADK Studio series and the Groove3 series and both are great for beginners. The ADK Studio is free while the Groove3 costs.

Two files I downloaded in the past seem to be missing from the Cakewalk Product Center 1.0.0.048 Add-ons file list; CakewalkDemoProjectsSetup_1.0.0.8.exe and CakewalkHelp_Documentation_1.0.0.21.exe.
Will I have to update my licensed version of Melodyne Essentials after running Melodyne5Setup_1.0.0.7.exe? My install is presently up-to-date at v5.3.018?

I haven't found a midi fx for vibrato. One of the better sites I've seen for midi fx is Viramor.com

Nice updates John. I particularly like the MIDI Latency video. Good stuff.

Validation of Cakewalk is and has always been good for 6 months from the last validation.
It was part of the initial announcement thread, if memory serves. It cause a huge splash amongst the community of people who create CbB tutorials, because it will eventually make their tutorials less relevant.
One of the FAQs on the Cakewalk Sonar webpage states
QuoteWe will continue providing community support and maintenance for Cakewalk by BandLab until Cakewalk Sonar becomes publicly available. At some point after the release of Sonar, Cakewalk by BandLab will no longer be supported. Note that existing Cakewalk by BandLab users will be able to continue using the software after the release of Cakewalk Sonar.

Hi FTK.
Welcome to Cakewalk by Bandlab and to the forum. Your question will get more views and a better chance for a response by posting the question in the main Cakewalk by BandLab forum.
This part of the forum is for people to post links to videos or other instructional material about how to use Cakewalk by Bandlab.

Enjoyable listen. I like the arrangement, instrumentation and mix. I must admit I was most intrigued about how you would treat the lead and background vocals. Elizabeth gave a wonderful performance. Absolutely awesome.
You paid homage to the original but made the song yours.

@Starship Krupa made a wonderful thought:
QuoteSo, I'd like to see better default settings out of the box that take into account systems that people are likely to have in 2023. A profiler would be the next better choice, with the best being the adaptive thing that @Misha suggests.

can we please just have one main forum for Legacy Sonar/ Cakewalk by Bandlab/New Sonar.
I think this is a great idea. I hope the forum moderators take note.

Nice Motown vibe. Unusual vocals for you. I think the singular "I want to groove" vocals panned left and right detract from the feel of the song. If you are going for the Motown vibe you should consider adding tambourine, perhaps some brass.

This is a pretty song. Great lead and background vocals. I enjoy hearing the melodic guitar and synth as a pad. I would like for the bass to be stronger and the plucked strings to have less volume.

Great video set John. I'm very glad to see you decided to update and repost your original videos. That is a lot of work.
While the tutorial section does not get many views I believe the tutorial section is one of the most important forum sections. I'm confidant it is one of the first sections visited by users new to audio production and Cakewalk by BandLab.

@King Burton, Please post your suggestion in the +++ Feedback Loop +++ forum section. This section is devoted to presenting tutorial links.

My thoughts: (1) He is very clear in articulating the workflow differences he chose to cover and the reason for his preferences and his caveats. (2) At my age, I need to go with what is automatic for me because it takes too much out of me to learn new workflows. (3) I have learned to use CbB's Workspaces to facilitate my workflow preferences for different kinds of projects I work on and the different kinds of tasks I use.
I don't have Studio One. It might be better for all the benefits Mike covered, but for a few years my brain has been shedding a lot of crap stored up there without making extra space for new stuff.
Just a personal decision. Please don't tell me I am wrong. I am not trying to convince anyone else what works for me is better for them. I'm finally learning this. 😉
Thanks for asking.
@User 905133, I thought Mike's introduction covered this point very well. He mentioned there are some users that have used Cakewalk or Sonar for years or decades and have no desire to learn a new DAW or workflow. The nice thing is you will still be able to use CbB for free or update to Sonar once it's released.

This forum currently has a header tab labeled Cakewalk by BandLab and a Cakewalk Products forum section labeled Cakewalk by BandLab. The new BandLab entity, Cakewalk, has announced two new products, Sonar and Next, while also announcing Cakewalk by Bandlab will be depreciated once the new products are released.
The question is, how should the forum reflect these changes?
Note that you can select multiple choices.

I first contacted Sterling using their "Contact Us" page on April 01. So far I've not received a response. I left a second message on their "Contact Us" page today.
