  1. @Chuck E Baby No, I am not using a custom theme. I've never even altered the default CW theme or used lenses in the past. I have had this "ghost" line for quite a while (more than a year), albeit completely random, inconsistent, yet often.
  2. @Starship Krupa This is a great idea! Thanks for bringing it up. I vote for an Aim Assist info toggle as well!
  3. I too have been having this "ghost" now time line appearing over other windows (PRV, console, etc.) It is especially confusing when working in PRV which has its own time line marker. The problem is random, not consistently reproducible but occurs frequently and has for a while now.
  4. That would be good! Certainly if a lane has been activated. And speaking of that, what then is the point you were making about activating a lane to begin with if it is not to indicate the lane that is the intended location of an insert? I'm still not understanding that....
  5. What I am saying is that with track lanes open and activating any lane and double-clicking on a clip from the browser will only ever insert the clip into the most recent lane. You can see this in the attached video where activating lanes 1 - 3 successively and trying to insert a clip will only place it in Lane 4. If I understand you correctly, this seems to contradict what you are saying about active lanes. Only when lanes are closed will inserting single clips add it to a new lane. Activating lanes not working.mp4
  6. @Noel Borthwick - all of my above comments only apply to trying to insert ONE clip at a time.
  7. ...Also, Importing a clip from File menu seems to oddly only write to take lane 2 whether lanes are open or not. (?!) I have videos of this but have reached my upload limit (I guess).
  8. @Noel Borthwick - I am finding that it makes a big difference whether take lanes are visible or not for dragging/inserting new clips. If and ONLY IF take lane view is OFF will inserting new clips automatically create new take lanes. Otherwise, with take lanes visible, adding/inserting clips (by double click from browser) will only continue to overwrite onto the most recent lane, unless, of course, you DROP to a specific lane. I can get no double-clicking or drag-dropping behavior to create a NEW lane with lanes visible. Neither does double-clicking in the blank space of open lane to choose that lane work for inserting clip to that lane. The clips will only go to most recent lane. Hopefully these attached videos help explain... Choosing lane first doesn't work.mp4 Drag to take lanes with lanes open and closed.mp4
  9. Interesting! So, what I am saying is, when "Zapping all" and returning to the default shortcut assignments, there seem to be some bindings that remain that are not represented in the Preferences-Keyboard Shortcuts window. In other words, the keystroke shows as "Unassigned" and nevertheless has a very obvious function. Specifically, and one that has caused me literally years of confusion until today, is the number keypad NUM 0 key. This is hard-coded to an obscure (to me) "Enhanced editing with keyboard" function that I had never heard of or seen talked about, nor is there even a corresponding menu item in the menu bar! I have to say that inadvertently hitting the NUM 0 key, a very easy thing to do, causes profound confusion in regards to cursor behavior when editing clips. This NUM 0 key engages Enhanced Keyboard Editing with no indication other than a secondary cursor line appearing at a track row (and only on one track) location somewhere in the project that can very easily be completely hidden to the user given whatever zoom level or screenset you may be using. And then, being completely oblivious to the fact that you are in keyboard editing mode, the normal cursor no longer behaves as one expects with edits and inserts happening at locations that seem totally random. Wow, has this driven me nuts! And I'm happy to now know the cause. But... what of this keyboard editing function? Why no mention in the menus and otherwise no indication of the mode being engaged or not? Why is such an important default keystroke (NUM 0) shown as unassigned??
  10. Yes, this clarification certainly helps a lot when dealing with bindings and lenses, Morten. Thank you. I am now going down a road of trying to get a handle on other Key Bindings irregularities that I experience. So, can you tell us this: when we first go to Lenses/None to activate the "master list of global keyboard shortcut assignments" and then open Preferences/Keyboard Shortcuts and choose the command to "Zap all" thereby clearing all key bindings (so the documentation says), why are there still bindings that remain? And where can we see a list of those?? And I'm not talking about just the basic, reserved ones like Spacebar for Play and such. I am finding certain very specific and obscure bindings that just persist no matter what, even when reassigning keystrokes to other commands, and even when "Zapping all" - even when, in the list of bindings, the keystrokes that are having an effect are notated as "Not assigned" and the command that is instantiated shows no keystroke bound to it.... Sorry if this is confusing. The simple starter questions are, again: What key bindings persist when Lenses/None is chosen and Zap All has been applied?? Why does Zap All not clear these? And whatever those are, do they take precedence over any custom chosen bindings?? Where can we see a list of these???
  11. @Twisted Fingers This seems to be a bug with using Lenses. The work-around is to switch Lenses to "None" if you don't use Lenses, or if you do use them, go to "Manage Lenses" in the pull-down and make sure that "Keyboard Shortcuts" is checked off. Then have your customized Key Bindings loaded and save your Lens(es) as needed. The custom bindings will now maintain across new sessions.
  12. @Jon Sasor I had this issue taken up with @Morten Saether in a private message. However, it remains unresolved. My help .dat files are up to date for the latest release, and Morten sent me a .json file to add to the Help Module folder. I still have the issue of no clip text in the module. I now notice that this is only true on my Windows7 machine. My windows 10 machine has the new clip Help text displaying. However, on both machines, there is no Help text displayed at all when the module is floating.
  13. @noynekker Thanks for the advice! I did check out AZ, but it's way more complex than what I need. Just finally figuring out (again) how to use ACT does the job for me. Thanks again
  14. @Hughb I'm just saying that Automap and Cakewalk worked fine for me (for my minimal needs in that regard) before and now it does not. So something changed, it seems, with the Bandlab version. Anyway, not having had to ever figure it out before, it is now time for me to familiarize myself with setting up ACT or Generic surface control from scratch. It seems that is all I have to do. That is certainly better solution for me than going out and buying another piece of hardware. Thanks anyway.
  15. @noynekker Are you saying that AZ is software that makes the Impulse work with Cakewalk, or that I would need to get another physical controller? I don't care about using the Automap software specifically. It works wonderfully with Ableton where I use it more to its potential. But with CbB I just want to use the Impulse with simple transport and mixer control in addition to note input...
  16. My Novation Impulse keyboard/controller surface used to work fine with its Automap software and Cakewalk Sonar. Now with CbB, I simply cannot get my keyboard to work any more for both note input AND a controller surface - specifically in regard to the transport buttons. Either I have the Impulse as a controller with the hardware surface controls functioning (thru Automap) and then the keys WILL NOT transmit notes, OR I remove the Automap controller functioning and the keys work again for notes, but the hardware controls no longer function. I have been using the Impulse with Automap and Cakewalk for years with everything working fine. I have uninstalled Automap, re-installed it and ran the initialization wizard but to no effect. What has changed? What do I do to get all functions working again??
  17. Thanks for the ProCh tip! And yes that is correct - I am still not seeing Help Module content for clips. CbB Help Module sample.mp4
  18. See my Aug 14th submission, "Updated HELP MODULE info not displaying" ....
  19. Updated HELP MODULE info not displaying I am bringing this submission over from the "Feature Overview" post, as it seems to me to be a bug: I find that the updated Help Module info is not showing. For example, hovering over Clips or the ProChannel modules cause nothing to be displayed in the Help Module. Other Help texts show as expected. I received this advice as a possible fix: "Copy the files from C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\Help Module and paste them to the %appdata%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\Help Module folder (C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\Help Module)." and "if files are missing from the user directory holding down the SHIFT key while starting CbB should restore them. If the help files are not part of this process, they need to be added. This is the job of partial personalization." However, I have done the above mentioned file moving, confirming the new file dates copied to the <username> Help Module folder. This, unfortunately, did not correct the issue. Neither did opening CbB while holding the SHIFT key. Still no added help module text is displaying. I also notice that IF the Help Module is floating (not docked) AND IF the browser pane is collapsed, the Help Module will not display anything that the cursor hovers over. CbB Help Module sample.mp4
  20. KEY BINDINGS "randomly" not obtaining I believe this is an issue not just related to this release, but... I have found that setting custom Key Bindings seem to randomly not remain set through to following sessions despite "Save changes for next session" being ticked on the appropriate Preferences page. This is true even of previously unassigned, non-default key bindings. However, exporting my custom profile when I make changes (as I try to always do) and then importing it each time I start a new session is a work-around, but it would be nice to have "Save changes" work...
  21. @scook I too have copied this file dated 7-31 but still get no clip display in the help module, hovering over audio or MIDI clips. I also notice that IF the Help Module is floating (not docked) AND IF the browser pane is collapsed, the Help Module will not display anything that the cursor hovers over.
  22. I have just done the above mentioned file moving, confirming the new file dates copied to the <username> Help Module folder. This, unfortunately, did not correct the issue. Neither did opening CbB while holding the SHIFT key. Still no added help module text is displaying. It is not a major issue for me, but just saying...
  23. Great update! However, for me the updated Help Module info is not showing. For example, hovering over Clips or the ProChannel modules cause nothing to be displayed in the Help Module. Other Help texts show as expected. Weird?!
  24. @scook That's it!!! Thank you so much! I never would have figured that out. Guess I gotta read up on Lenses...
  25. Yes, I have no doubt mine should be this way as well, @Mandolin Picker. The Video View shows up fine on my other machine. But I'm at a loss as to why it on longer works on this one! Thank you, tho
